Good morning from my office between the two stadiums in Seattle. It is a Wednesday morning at 0600 and I am here to deliver a few headlines that caught my eye and my stupid commentary regarding them. If you don’t like it, then YOU do it.
First the headlines that caught my eye:
Item 1: Qatar announces Israel-Hamas truce-for-hostages deal that would pause Gaza fighting, bring more aid
Item 2: 43 percent of Americans frequently constipated, survey says
Item 3: Sam Altman returns to OpenAI in a bizarre reversal of fortunes
Item 4: German police raid homes of 17 people accused of posting antisemitic hate speech on social media
Item 5: Polarized World Threatens Open Internet: ICANN
Item 6: Exploding wild pig population on western Canadian prairie threatens to invade northern US states
And now for my stupid Commentary based solely on the headlines:
In Re 1: I think we should move the UN to Qatar. Get it out of our hair.
In Re 2: So basically, 43 percent of Americans are frequently full of shit. This is news?
In Re 3: Palace intrigue.
In Re 4: Since I am anti-ALL-religion, I would probably be arrested also. Why? Because I will talk shit all day long about all-ya-all’s imaginary friend. The number one reason this planet is so fucked up can be directly tied to organized religion. It’s all bullshit. Don’t like it? Fight me.
See?
In Re 5: The only way the Internet survives is for international cooperation and standards. The problem is, when you get each country wanting to police the Internet on their terms, then the various conflicts will eventually stop the Internet from operating at all. ICANN has managed to keep the network running up until now, but it is fast running across situations that will cause the entire thing to come crashing down.
In Re 6: And you thought the Southern border had its issues. We have migrating ‘super pigs’! Maybe we can bus them down to Texas and Floriduh?
Okay, that’s it for today. Yeah, I pretty much phoned this one in, but I am about to become incredibly busy in about fifteen minutes and my staff are all waiting outside my door waiting for me to lead them into the battle for today.
Like I said, if YOU think you can do this better — and you probably can — then YOU do this. Let me die in peace.

Feral pigs are a problem throughout many states, Texas most definitely included. A small town Texas deputy told a story of being called to check on a possible stalker, only to come nose to snout with a large hog. He shot the hog in the head, but the 9mm didn’t penetrate, and the pig treed him. A patrolman showed up to check on him some time later, used a .45 and found himself treed as well. The hog was eventually taken down by an animal control agent using multiple rounds from a .45-70. The animal control guy handed the deputy his bullet, which was perfectly mushroomed, from right between the eyes.
They’re a problem where I am in Arkansas as well. This time of year, they’re underneath oak trees eating the nuts, but if you don’t fence in your garden (and dig in that fence, cementing the lower edge for 4 inches minimum), whatever you grow will be theirs, not yours. They’re nocturnal, so a night scope is needed, but since they’re considered an invasive species, there’s no season or bag limit.
I was being somewhat facetious when I was talking about bussing the feral pig “migrants” to Texas and Floriduh.
Feral pigs still make bacon, do they not?
That they do! A wild boar is going to have much less fat than a domesticated penned pig, so we’re talking lean bacon here. Need to brine the bacon for a couple days, helps reduce the gamy flavor to something that really tastes good. I have a nephew that loves to hunt them, and we eat what we hunt.
There’s a sounder of pigs that roam on my property, but I haven’t actually seen them. They leave tracks, places they’ve dug up, a couple wallows they’ve made and scrapes on pine trees. I’m told they like to scrape against pine trees. Pig deodorant? Fresh pine scent? Anyways, from the hoof size and such, I’d say they’re 100-150 lbs, with some piglets mixed in.
