Good morning from my office stashed betwixt the two stadiums in Seattle. It is a Monday morning in October, and the high today is supposed to be 74° F and partly cloudy. The Seachickens lost yesterday, if anyone cares.

I would love to do another day without politics, but sadly, the news is nothing but politics this morning.

The war against Palestinians, Lebanon, Iran, and others marks its first full year in action. 1200 Israeli citizens were brutally attacked, raped and murdered one year ago. Since then, Israel has killed over 44 thousand Palestinians in retaliation — so far. They aren’t ready to quit killing quite yet. Not that Hamas, Hezbollah or Iran are ready to quit either.

So it will continue until either someone runs out of ammo, or there is nobody else to kill. I am personally at the point where I think we should simply put a giant fence up around the entire Middle East, let nothing in or out, and let them fight until they get too exhausted to continue. Maybe when they are reduced to fighting with sticks and rocks, all sides might come to their senses.

Yeah, I know it wouldn’t work. I know that it is ‘magical thinking’ and all that. But while at the beginning of this conflict Israel was (mostly) in the right, I feel that they have lost that moral position and in many ways are just as culpable as their enemy now. There are no clean hands in this conflict, and for that reason I can take no sides on this. You may not like my assessment or opinion on this, nor would I require it from you. I’m just stating where I am at right now on all of this — and I am just a nobody. So if you get upset at my personal opinions, then that’s on YOU. My opinion and a couple of bucks might get you a coffee at McDonalds… or not.

They say you are never too old to … WHAT?!

Russian court sentences 72-year-old American for fighting for Ukraine

A Russian court has sentenced a 72-year-old American citizen, Stephen James Hubbard, to six years and 10 months in prison after convicting him in a closed-door trial of fighting as a mercenary for Ukraine.

Investigators said Hubbard, a native of Michigan, was paid $1,000 (£760) a month to serve in a Ukrainian territorial defence unit in the eastern city of Izyum, where he had been living since 2014.

The RIA state news agency quoted the prosecutor as saying last month that Hubbard was detained by Russian soldiers on 2 April 2022, weeks after Moscow sent thousands of troops into Ukraine.

Oh, I see, he was a 72-year-old American who had been living in Ukraine from 2014 and had been caught up in the war. Whether he had actually been fighting or not is unclear.

Donald Trump Bemoans His Team Using Wrong Picture at Rally: ‘So Stupid’

Republican presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump has called his rally staff “so stupid” after they displayed the “wrong picture” to the crowd.

[…]

“And we have something to show you the kind of crowd we had last night, it was really something special, so let’s put it up if we can,” Trump told the Wisconsin crowd, turning his head to look at the screen. A video was put up showing the large Butler crowd. “That’s the wrong picture,” Trump said, turning back to the crowd.

“That was unbelievable, they used the wrong picture, it was the same picture but they had the two side things,” he said, before splaying out his arms and saying, “They’re so stupid!” prompting the crowd to laugh.

I wonder if his rally staff like being called “stupid” by the guy they are supporting…

Internet Viciously Memes Elon Musk’s Jumpy Trump Rally Appearance

Critiques of Musk’s jumping technique pointed out just how awkward he looked as well as Trump’s visual disgust when Musk took the stage. As Rolling Stone reported in August, Trump thinks Musk is “weird,” “boring,” annoying and has mood swings. In 2022, Trump publicly called Musk “another bullshit artist.”

Elon Musk’s mother appears to encourage X users to commit voter fraud

Maye Musk, the mother of billionaire Elon Musk, seemingly prompted pro-Donald Trump voter fraud on her son’s social media platform X.

Maye Musk quoted a post from her son urging his followers to “get all your friends and family to register to vote” but encouraged them to go further. She claimed the Democrats have given them the option to take steps that amount to illegal voter fraud.

“You don’t have to register to vote,” she said in the Saturday post. “On Election Day, have 10 fake names, go to 10 polling booths and vote 10 times. That’s 100 votes, and it’s not illegal. Maybe we should work the system too.”

A note added to the post included context from readers, simply stating, “This is, in fact, illegal,” with a link to the exact text of the related voting law as listed on the U.S. House of Representatives website.

The Potential Loss of the Modern GOP?

Versus the Original GOP, which apparently is the Modern-day Democratic Party? Some things can afford to be “lost”.

Potential Trump loss threatens destruction of modern GOP

An identity crisis. A brutal power struggle. Years in the wilderness.

•  If Donald Trump is defeated in next month’s election, the Republican Party will face a reckoning unprecedented in modern political history.

Why it matters: Never before has a party’s identity been so deeply entwined with the fate, fortunes and flaws of one man. Four consecutive poor election cycles would unleash a wave of sustained scrutiny that the GOP — as it currently exists — may not survive.

• If Vice President Kamala Harris ultimately is inaugurated in January, a rudderless Republican Party will be forced — for the first time — to move on from Trump, who has said he will not seek the 2028 nomination.

• At last week’s VP debate, Sen. JD Vance gave us a window of what MAGA sans Trump could look like — presenting a polished case for economic populism without the cult of personality.

• But any ideological successor would face challenges: Even the Trumpiest candidates have historically underperformed the former president, whose unique appeal to disaffected voters has proven hard to replicate.

What to watch: Anti-Trump Republicans — a cohort that swelled in the aftermath of Jan. 6 — are salivating at the prospect of reclaiming their party.

The REAL reason people watch NASCAR

It’s for the crashes. Nothing more, nothing less. The more spectacular the better.

The Great Florida Migration Is Coming Undone

A surplus of housing inventory and dwindling buyer interest are slowing sales. Hurricanes and extreme weather are making it worse.

It turns out that nobody likes living in a place where the weather will reset the landscape each and every year.

Trump’s First Good Idea

Trump Suggests Voting Mandate in Rambling Wisconsin Rally Speech

During the middle of yet another rambling rant about how the 2020 election had been stolen from him, Donald Trump claimed on Sunday that one path to a victory over Kamala Harris is to establish a voting mandate in battleground states.

“The only way to avoid this miserable thing for America is if Wisconsin and the entire Midwest turn and, I mean, turn out in record numbers,” the former president told rally goers in Juneau, Wisconsin.

“We need a mandate in the vote,” he said. At one point during the rally, Trump mused that the 2024 election will be the “greatest political victory in American history”—for him, of course.

I’ve always liked the idea of mandatory voting. I also like mandatory national service as a requirement after graduating high school. I would also mandate civics classes throughout school.

I believe that EVERYBODY should be required to vote as long as they are American citizens. It should be a requirement to maintain your full American citizenship. Don’t want to vote? Become a second class citizen with restricted benefits.

Leaving on a Crusade.

One hundred percent, huh? We are talking about today’s version of men, right? Man buns, avocado toast, and all that?

Here to Save America

This is just the start of the list of fraud this guy represents.

That’s it for me today

My half-hearted attempt to entertain your silly asses today is now complete. If you don’t like anything I’ve posted here today, you are MORE THAN WELCOME to take this mess over from me.

Until that happens…. Good day.
