In Re 1: I can honestly say that I haven’t really been following this story. Anything that I currently know about it has been through osmosis. I know that his rants on Truth Social has cost someone $15k, but HE didn’t pay it, one of his rabid followers did. But his followers can’t take his place in a jail cell if the judge loses patience with Trump’s antics. I know that a lot of focus on his ‘free speech’ complaints, but being under legal jeopardy has a tendency to restrict a lot of Constitutional Rights — one of them being his actual freedom. He might not quite realize it yet, but he does NOT have a Constitutional Right to remain free while awaiting trial. In fact, if you want to talk about Trump being treated differently from 99 percent of other criminal defendants, know that most defendants await federal trial from a jail cell, or at least home confinement while on bail with a long list of restrictions and responsibilities that include jury and witness tampering.
While this is a CIVIL trial, it is a trial to determine whether the Trump Organization remains as a business or not. It is also a trial to determine whether the company was built on ill-gotten gains, and if so, will end up dissolving the company and stripping the Trump family of a large bulk of their wealth because of it.
In Re 2: I posit that the EU has never lost its anti-Semitic levels. Neither has America, or anywhere else. It’s just that people feel free to say it out loud again, now that the Right wing is gaining more and more power. Remember the Charlottesville, Virginia chants of “Jews will not replace us” during the Unite the Right Rally in 2017?
In Re 3: I might have mentioned this before, but I have a 14-year-old neighbor kid who was born female, and has decided that he is now a boy. But NOT a heterosexual boy. Nuh-uh. No, “he” is now a GAY boy.
Take a moment for that to sink in.
Confused? Yeah, me too.
In Re 4: There is NO excuse for there to be people camping out in tents on the fucking streets. There is also NO excuse for a region to spend upwards of $200 million a year to deal with the homeless problem and not see any results. That would be the Seattle area.
Why? Because everyone needs a fucking committee to first ‘study’ the problem. Committees and studies often cost more money than they are worth, and almost always comes up with the same fucking answers:
1. The cost of housing is too high for a lot of people to afford.
2. Once a person becomes homeless, it becomes a full-time job just to survive.
3. Once homeless, if unable to work because of being homeless, a person has to resort to crime to survive
4. Once homeless, it is impossible to find a place to live — because nobody will rent to a homeless person.
So you would think, that if the city/county can pony up $200 million a year for homeless committees and studies, that they could simply take that money and use it to subsidize rents on over-priced housing and still save upwards of $150 million of that money.
How’s that, you ask? Well, if we literally paid the entire rent for an entire year for every homeless person in Seattle, it would cost about $50 million. That is also what most of the studies have concluded.
In Re 5: The election is still a year off. With two front runners being 78 and 81, statistically, at least one of them is liable to be dead in a year. Morbid? No, just being realistic. Neither of these clowns are ‘spring chickens’. One is morbidly obese, and the other one is … well, old.
Let’s not forget the fact that there are some criminal trials coming up that WILL impact the ability of one candidate to run and/or hold office.
All that said, while polls might have Trump leading a year out, it doesn’t always translate into voter turnout. A LOT can happen in a year’s time. More than likely, one, if not both of the current front runners may not be around a year from now. THAT is a distinct probability, not a possibility.
In Re 6: Okay, I cheated on this one. I saw the reports on this — so cool.

The Biden administration, steeped as it is in military prowess and full of great military thinkers who understand both military strategy and tactics – and American military history – has dispatched General Antony Blinken to Jerusalem to help Israel fight its war against Hamas. Because the United States knows better.
First, according to General Blinken, the IDF should use smaller bombs to try to protect Gaza civilians “while still achieving its objectives of finding and finishing Hamas terrorists.” The US, according to The New York Times, is preparing to ship smaller bombs to Israel. Furthermore, according to The Times, U.S. officials have been encouraging Israel to use the tactics of US Special Operations forces against in Iraq: targeting Hamas leaders “using small teams of commandos, combined with precision strikes from drones and manned aircraft.” [Note: In Mosul, US and allied forces killed upwards of 9,000 civilians in the battle against ISIS.] [Second note: Biden has said no American forces would be involved, except that many of the hostages are American citizens. so they SHOULD be rescuing hostages. I guess Blinken and Biden are taking their military strategy from Hillary Clinton in Benghazi. What’s with all these B’s?]
Israel rejected the first on military grounds – Hamas is thoroughly dug in underground in tunnels with the civilians sitting defenseless on top. Smaller bombs would still kill the exposed civilians but wouldn’t penetrate the hardened bunkers. How does that help the civilians of Gaza, General Blinken?
On the second, it was only back in July that the US asked for “clarifications” over Israel’s use of a UAV to kill 3 West Bank militants. “’The introduction of armed UAVs raises concern over the potential loosening of rules of engagement in an area that needs to see de-escalation,’ a US official told me,” an Israeli source reported.” [Note: The Obama administration (of which Biden was part) ordered more than 542 drone strikes killing 3,797 people, including an American aid worker and his Italian colleague, and a 16-year-old American citizen who was in the car with his father, the target – and also an American citizen.]
There’s more, but I’ll spare you. Be awestruck by the enormous military knowledge of Biden and Blinken. Winken, Blinken and Nod.

It seems that over the years I’ve had to bring this up a few dozen times because people either are ignorant of copyright laws, or are just too stupid to care — because this isn’t their site, and they aren’t legally on the hook should someone want to push the issue.

Then here’s the long and short of it:
Post an except (a paragraph maybe) and a link to read the rest that includes the ORIGINAL author and/or publication. This might take a little work on your part, since you usually cut and paste from someone’s blog made out to look like a news site — and they ripped off the original work from someone else. If you have any doubt, just cut and paste that paragraph into Google and see how many times that paragraph has been copied.
For example: I am going to cut and paste an excerpt from Creative Commons, along with attribution:
This tells the reader that YOU didn’t write this, you are simply referencing the original work while commenting on that work. It allows you to claim “fair use”, without asking permission to use it — because you’ve only excerpted it and you’ve given proper attribution.
There IS a way to post an entire article here and still remain within the ‘fair use doctrine’ of the Creative Commons licensing. Misha used it all the time in his ‘fisking’ of various political writings. He would ‘excerpt’ bits with attribution, then comment on that excerpt. He would then post another excerpt of that same work and comment on that excerpt, and so on until he got the entire article up on the site. You are allowed to do that.
You just are not allowed to post most, if not all of an article on this site sans attribution or comment.
In other words, you are allowed to use the excerpts of an article with attribution to further your OWN words, not replace your own words with the article.
Please try to follow this when you comment, and save Misha the time and hassle of dealing with a potential shit storm that someone has unwittingly created for him.

But they ARE walking a tightrope with the base. So they will make noise about wanting pauses in the action, and all that to show the base they are ‘trying’, but if you simply look at the ACTIONS of the US — we are fully behind what Israel is currently doing.
Yes, it’s a case of the administration saying one thing for public consumption and doing something completely different in reality Pretty much par for the course for every administration.

The humanitarian aid that Biden wants to get in will NOT go to the people, just as the money that the US and EU have given Gaza for decades. They have plenty of oil, but Hamas is hoarding it. The same with medical supplies. Everything given to Gaza will be seized and used for Hamas’ murderous attacks.
The only way to free the so-called palestinians is to destroy Hamas. Biden should shut the fuck up and let Israel do what it needs.

Sorry, but that is incorrect. A pause, as in a Humanitarian pause is described as just that: a pause.
A cease-fire is more permanent:
There isn’t anyone with any power in the US government calling for a cease-fire. Most everyone is calling for a series of humanitarian pauses in order to get civilians out of harms way, if possible, and to provide food, water, and medicine to civilians.
The key phrase being, ‘if possible’. As you’ve pointed out, Hamas likes to hide among the citizens. That would make the citizens pretty much hostage to Hamas, right? Resist Hamas, and the citizens would most likely end up dead.
This is guerilla warfare being perpetrated by Hamas. These are irregular fighters, meaning that they aren’t regimented, and are liable to commit actual war crimes by using the Palestinian people as human shields.
Contrary to the bellyaching of a LOT of ignorant people, Israel is doing exactly what it needs to do to prosecute this war. It’s certainly not pretty to watch, and while I would rather not see innocent civilians involved on either side, Hamas has made the conditions, and this is the war we have, not the one we’d like to see.
Unlike you, I see BOTH sides at fault in this conflict — and that’s something to take up once this is all over and done with. But first, let’s get rid of Hamas…

Okay, show me where he says he wants a ceasefire. He doesn’t, in fact, he’s been pretty damn clear that he is against a ‘cease fire’ but is for a series of humanitarian pauses. And apparently so is Israel.

If you were planning on blaming Joe Biden for her being hired, then I have some bad news for you. First of all, the position is a government career position, and is not subject to appointment and pleasure of the POTUS. Neither Trump, nor Biden was involved in her being in that position.
Secondly, she is probably a member of the Federal Employees Union. You cannot just fire someone for their previous employment, and she cannot be outright fired for something she’s posted on social media outside of her office. It would require due process to fire her, but in the mean time can be placed on administrative leave.
Apparently the woman is of Palestinian extract herself. Are you saying that she does not have a right or even the freedom to say “fuck Israel” if she wants? Should YOU be allowed to advocate for the death and destruction of Muslims without any consequence?

A new report about the images that came out of the Oct. 7 terror attack by Hamas on innocent Israeli civilians is raising questions about the actions of photographers apparently employed by AP, CNN, Reuters and the New York Times.
