Sixteen hits for yesterday. Six of them were me dropping by to check the counter, two for commenting.
Nobody wants to provide content here. Only a couple of you even bother to leave a comment. The server is about ready to crater from a lack of upgrade and upkeep. And the site owner has all but disappeared.
I’ve tried to keep this thing up and running, even providing content and provocative commenting. I’ve even offered the ‘keys of the kingdom’ to anyone who graces the doorstep here.
I am on the verge of just walking away
, and letting the Russian and Chinese hackers eventually take this joint over and turning it into a porn site.

I’m leaving a comment, hope it helps! Don’t give up …
It seems a lot of us are getting ready for “what comes next.” I don’t comment much at all these days. Most of what I’m thinking would be better off left unsaid anyway. Spicy times are coming IMHO.
All the best…
I think the problem is the audience is dying off.
Or they don’t know that there are updates any longer.
I have an RSS reader set up to alert me when new stuff comes in.
New posting girls with big guns in bikinis wielding firearms? 🙂
Death and apathy are not concurrent but are sometimes difficult to distinguish from one another.
Burnout on the shit going on is my primary excuse, that and talking to the winds rarely produces change.
Appreciate your work, this nice blog was fun when there were dozens of participants, now a ghost town.
Take good care and a good night to you, Mrs. Calabash, if there are yet any ships at sea.
I know that much of the audience left the site about four years ago, and are all hanging out on the Rott Page on FaceCrack. Even Misha was hanging out there for a while before he dropped out of sight altogether.
You don’t have to post political stuff here. I’ve tried to post lighter fare such as jokes, memes, even music to shake things up.
I agree, Terrapod, that the news can be an awful downer. Especially the fake news, mis- and dis-information bullshit we get bombarded with on a daily basis. We tend to get too wrapped up in the bullshit and get emotional when we are confronted with facts that go against our pre-conceived notions of How Things Are Supposed To Be™.
I’ve mentioned this here several times in the past couple of years: I’ve stopped watching cable news. I’ve stopped listening to talk radio, or otherwise occupy most of my time wringing my hands over some political scandal or another.
I’ll read a book, stream a series on a streaming platform, go out and mow the lawn, or anything else that doesn’t include paying close attention to all the bullshit going on in the world.
When I’m commenting on the headlines I’ve been posting lately, I wasn’t kidding when I said I am not bothering to read the articles I’m commenting on. It’s not that I haven’t heard about the story — I do listen to the headline news on the radio when I’m driving. It’s not like I’m ignoring the news. I just choose not to dwell on it.
God grant me the serenity to accept things I cannot change.
Getting upset at the daily news is a waste of time and energy. Shit happens, and it is going to happen whether I care about it or not. The best any of us can do is try to stay out of shit’s way.
I suppose I could sit here and wring my hands over the events going on in Israel. But what is that going to do? I chose to fight in Yom Kippur instead of going to Vietnam. I’ve been through that phase of my life when I cared and was stupid enough at the time to think I can effect change.
If this was 1973, and knowing what I know now, I’m not so sure I’d go this time. I certainly wouldn’t have had to deal with a lifetime of physical pain from the injuries I sustained.
What I’m trying to say here in my usual long-winded way is that when you stop taking the daily news seriously, and focus on your own personal lives and pursuits, your quality of life will greatly increase and the stupid shit won’t get you down.
I’ve learned to laugh at the stupid shit, and that pisses of people like readerjp.
I close with the most controversial photo I could find:
Hard to see this… Can I help?
In a recent article, senior adviser at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and former National Security Council official Richard Goldberg traces the money trail. He confirms: It is so much worse than we think.
Goldberg lays out the numbers. The $6 billion you’ve seen in every (other) headline is only the money being transferred from our friends in Qatar. But this is separate from the $10 billion of assets being transferred from Iraq, which Goldberg says will continue on “a rolling basis.” Then there are the reports that Iran will be allowed to access $7 billion in fiat currency by trading drawing rights with the International Monetary Fund. He also says Japan is scheduled to transfer $3 billion to Iran.
“Money is fungible,” and even the funds that have not yet been unfrozen are likely being treated as good credit in Iran’s ledger.
The revelations do not end there. U.S. officials have also quietly acknowledged that they’ve uncapped Iranian oil exports to China. These export levels, previously held around 775,000 barrels per day under Trump’s sanctions, are now estimated to be between 1.4 and 2.2 million barrels per day. Modest estimates value this relief at $25 billion annually.
The total? $50 billion.
Most recently, we learned that top officials were influencing the U.S. government in favor of Iranian nuclear power. A series of recently leaked emails have focused on Ariane Tabatabai, the chief of staff to the secretary of defense for special operations. Messages show her involvement with the Iran Experts Initiative (IEI), a direct Iranian government initiative to allegedly “improve the country’s image abroad.”
Meanwhile, Iran recently launched yet another imaging satellite, which is assumed to be part of their ballistic missile program. (Nuclear warheads don’t fly themselves — they are placed on ballistic missiles that carry them to their targets.) This goes against UN Security Council resolutions that are set to expire on Oct. 18.
The extent of this hidden money trail has yet to be fully realized. It isn’t only Gaza. It’s Lebanon. It’s Syria. It’s Iraq. It’s Afghanistan. It will be Paris and London. It is likely pouring over the U.S. southern border.
And it’s coming to a neighborhood near you.
With the open border, they’re probably already here. They have a training camp in Matamoros, Mexico. Right over the border. Thanks, Joe. Go take another nap.
You act like we are giving Iran money our of our own pockets. It’s their money, dummy. We have just been blocking their access to their money, along with all the interest it accrued.
In case you haven’t been paying attention — and you haven’t really — sanctions no longer work. All these nations we’ve been sanctioning in order to try and force them to change their bad behaviors are no longer effective. Iran has been effectively bypassing our sanctions for a while now, so have many other nations we’ve applied harsh sanctions on.
Sanctions require the cooperation of other nations. In the case of Iran, there are many nations who are not following those sanctions so Iran is able to work around them with no major problems. Many of our own allies don’t follow the official US stance when it comes to sanctioned nations, and so they, too end up with work-arounds.
How do I contribute? May I have an account, or do I just write in the comments?
You could start by commenting. I’m just the guy left here holding the bag. We are all waiting for The Management™ to come back from “going out to get cigarettes and a beer”. It’s been a minute.
I’m a nobody, soon to be gone to wherever the rest of The Management™ wandered off to.
But hey, jump right in. Someone will be by to comment.
Yeah, it pisses me off when you are indifferent to women getting raped, babies being decapitated and children’s hospitals targeted. Deliberately. It’s EVIL, it’s NAZISM revived with the same ambition – to kill every Jew on the planet. It is GENOCIDAL, and the JOY they take in these evil deeds is HORRIFYING. Don’t think they won’t come after you, DJ. They don’t care if you dislike Netanyahu, all they care about is that you’re a Jew.
Don’t stop there. If they run out of immediate hate targets to kill, which they will assuredly not, they will come for the “other” infidels, when they run out of infidels, they will come for those not practicing “their” brand of Mohammedanism and when they run out of those, it will be other tribes (gangs) within their own erstwhile faith. All socialists need an external bogeyman to demonize, otherwise they lose cohesion. Short of it, this will never end until one side utterly destroys the other. Good luck with that, been going on a very long time with no signs of diminishing. BTW, applies to ALL socialist/communist based organizations. All of them, including Harvard, Yale and (gasp!) liberal governments gone totalitarian.
Here, let me fix this for you:
All Republicans need an external bogeyman to demonize. Otherwise they have nothing to complain about and their reason to exist evaporates. It’s literally become the Party of Grievance.
But then, you could probably say that about any political and/or religious group these days.
Ding! Ding! Ding! This is true when you only think in binary terms. Either/or. My way or the highway.
In this case, the binary is either Palestinians disperse and find some other land to hang out on, or Israel will continue to shove them into smaller and smaller bits of land while simultaneously severely blockading food, supplies, electricity, water and fuel until things blow up or the Palestinians die.
You seem to live under the assumption that all Palestinians are either Hamas, terrorists, or both. This would be like saying that all Americans are Democrats because Joe Biden was elected POTUS.
The reality is that most Palestinians are NOT Hamas, do NOT support Hamas activities, and are forced to tolerate Hamas — because they have the weapons. Also, most Americans did NOT vote for Joe Biden OR Donald Trump — because they didn’t vote. Same goes for the PA.
Gee, I wonder if I should tell you about a kibbutz…
:em05:
Well, the locals of Gaza voted for Hamas once (who never let go of power once gained), so one can assume they support the policies. It is not binary thinking, just a recognition of reality. You did notice that no other Arab state really wants palis on their territory and with good reason given the observed results of Gaza and Lebanon. BTW, how well did the two state solution work? If that did not work, what remains is the “no state” solution……only there is nowhere for them to go to. Vexing, is it not?
Once again, assuming facts not in evidence.
Therein lies the problem. You are mad because I won’t conform to your feelings — or at least that’s your perception. You are mad because my emotions don’t outwardly match yours. That’s YOUR problem, not mine.
First off, I cannot make you mad. That’s your choice to be mad. You are choosing to be angry, and pissed off. I’m not doing that to you. You are the only person who has control over your own emotions. Do not blame that on me.
Secondly, you assume that I am ‘indifferent’ because I am telling you that neither side has clean hands in any of this. I think it is an atrocity that BOTH sides are killing innocent men, women, and children — and have been for decades. If you can’t acknowledge that glaring fact, then I don’t know what to tell you.
Remember when I told you that just because you were caught by surprise didn’t mean that Israel was surprised? I was right: Egypt warned Israel three days before the attack that Hamas was up to something BIG. Israel either ignored it or downplayed it.
Now, of course Netanyahu denies it. But why would Egypt lie? Even House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee head Michael McCaul affirmed that US Intelligence got the same warning from Egypt three days prior to the attack and passed it on to Netanyahu.
Israeli state media said yesterday its military did receive intel about a Hamas attack – three days before a rocket barrage and roving squads of gunmen killed over a thousand people – but opted not to take action. Media reports said Israel did not act because Egypt did not specify the magnitude of the attack. Reports also said Egypt’s warning was played down as Israel was focused on settlers in the West Bank.
And still Netanyahu denies he was ever warned, which makes me think that one, he’s lying, and that two, maybe he knew this was coming and was looking for that excuse to just go in an annihilate the people in Gaza and the West Bank. After all, his new, ultra-Right government has been deliberately trying to poke that bear since it came into power a few months ago.
Never mind that the government he formed has literally caused a split in the Israeli population, which one could argue helped cause the Hamas animals to try and take advantage of that split.
But again, if you had only been paying attention to this instead of a nobody like Hunter Biden…
Like the majority of MAGA clowns who support your Donald Trump? (“Jews will not replace us”). I mean literal neo-Nazis, white Christian nationalists and fascists who have taken over the Republican Party. You mean those “alt-right” Nazis?
Sorry, but Hamas is hardly NAZI. Animals, yes. Religious fanatics, also yes. Inhumane, same. But not Nazi.
You really need to learn your ‘isms’.
WAR is HORRIFYING.
If you are like many of your other fellow Trumpublicans, you don’t seem to have ANY problem with the horrifying war that Russia is carrying on against Ukraine at the moment, with far greater numbers of killing innocent women and children. When you start wringing your hands over that mess, THEN you might be more believable when you complain about this one.
That’s a long ways to travel, and when they get here, they’d have to get in line. Besides, this guy shoots back.
I’m agnostic, which in their minds is worse. Muslims actually respect religious people, even if their faith is diametrically opposed to their belief system. To not believe in any faith is even worse in their minds.
You operate under the faulty notion that Muslims hate Jews and Christians. No more so than Christians hate Jews and Muslims. Or that Jews hate Christians and Muslims.
YES, some in each faith DO hate people from other faiths. But when they do, they are NOT operating within the faith they claim to belong to.
Muslims consider both Jews and Christians to be “People of the Book”.
Islam does not condemn any individual since everyone has an equal opportunity to earn God’s pleasure. So Jews also have the same opportunity and have been respected in Islam and Islamic communities.
According to Islam there have been many great Jews and it is worthy to note that most of the prophets mentioned in the Qur’an were Jewish: Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Elijah, John the Baptist and Jesus.
Hamas may claim to be “Islamic”, but their actions are anything but. Same, too with the government of Iran, which claims to be “Islamic” but like every nation that puts religion in front of secularism, will tend to bastardize that religion to fit it’s needs.
I am not ‘indifferent’ when it comes to what’s going on in Israel at the moment. Like you, I do think it is ‘horrific’, and should never have happened.
But it did happen, and it should come as NO surprise to anyone that it did. You are mad because YOU didn’t know it was going to happen and still cannot fathom how or why. You get mad because I am telling you the how and why.
I’m not excusing it, nor being indifferent. I’m just telling you how we got here and what could — and should — have been done to prevent it.
And just what was it that could have been done?
Give these people their own state and the autonomy to operate it. The Palestinians were there first in the common era and existed there before the biblical Jews.
Nazism’s goal was to eradicate the Jews – so is Hamas’. They use similar tactics of mass slaughter. So I don’t need to bone up on my “ism’s.”
Your moral equivalence of the Palestinian with the Israelis ignores many things. Palestinians are allowed to become Israeli citizens if they swear loyalty to the state, but the ones in Gaza and the West Bank who hate Israel will never do that. The ones in Gaza are responsible for their government, and they choose to use terrorism to destroy Israel.
Yeah, not quite. The German Nazi’s goal was to eradicate any and everyone who weren’t of the mythical Aryan race. Jews, Blacks, and Roma (Gypsies) and anyone who wasn’t “pure of blood” as “non-Aryans”, and therefore should be exterminated — wiped off the earth.
So your statement should read:
Hamas’ goal is to eliminate the state of Israel.
Not Jews. Not nobody. Contrary to your personal beliefs, Muslims do not hate Christians or Jews. If anything, they respect the “People of the Book”. They share the same god, and basic premises. Their fight isn’t with Jewish people, it’s with the idea of Israel in it’s current form.
I’m going to stop you right there. I make a distinction between the innocent Palestinian people and the militants who prefer to be identified as “Hamas”. So I will make that distinction — and so should you when I am speaking about Palestinians. If I am talking about the ones causing all the problems, I will always refer to them as “Hamas” or terrorists or animals. Can we be straight on that?
I also make the distinction between the people of Israel and it’s government. One does not equal the other.
I’m going to skip the long-winded routine this time and boil things down to you in easy to chew morsels:
The Hamas attack on Israel was horrific, and for that action alone, Israel is justified to destroy Hamas once and for all. It’s the details that become problematic.
I don’t care if Hamas gets wiped out. Make it swift and decisive to send the message. That is me not caring.
The part I do care about is not only the dead and injured innocent Israeli citizens but the soon-to-be dead innocent Palestinians who had nothing to do with any of this, along with the aftermath of anyone who survives. This is the “problematic” part.
Innocent death is innocent death. Bombing an entire neighborhood of building into a pavement just because some militants are holed up using innocent civilian as ‘human shields’ is pretty horrific also. Anger dictates the need, I get it. But it doesn’t make it any less objectionable.
Israel has no choice but to retaliate. HARD. I have no argument there. What Hamas did was a war crime.
My concern is the collateral damage — on both sides.
There. Done.
