Well, good afternoon from my Hunker-bunker overlooking the Puget Sound off the West side of West Seattle. It is a Tuesday in the realm, and I’ve just sped home from my office between the two stadiums. I started at 0300 this morning so I could remove and replace a 250 pound garbage disposal in the restaurant dish room.
Let me rephrase that: I instructed the engineering staff in the ‘proper practices’ of replacing a piece of equipment. I’ve got six guys and two gals in our engineering department and not one of them can set a drain to save their miserable lives. They tried four times in the past three weeks and each time they got it wrong. Either it wouldn’t drain or it leaked. There’s a reason why there is a plumbing code…
But you don’t give a shit about my daily grind, do you? You are here to see what I’ve got to say about this and that.
What a bunch of masochists.
Well Joe Biden finally got the hint and figured out that the longer he stuck around trying to run for re-election, the bigger the chance of Donald Trump running away with the race in a ‘lopslide‘. (a result of a candidate winning by a VERY wide margin simply because the other side didn’t bother to show up and vote. I was one of those people who wasn’t planning on voting because I didn’t like either choice.
Trump would have won BIG, but he probably would have had the lowest turnout in decades. As long as Joe Biden stayed in the race, there was almost zero incentive to show up. If you were going to vote for Trump, you were already there. But if you were never going to vote for Trump, and there wasn’t a viable candidate as the alternative, then there was no reason to bother.
Trumpublicans were almost giddy with that scenario. All they had to do was run on Joe Biden’s age and mental decline and Joe could prove their point by simply standing, walking and speaking. “Biden is too old, or too frail, or ‘senile’, ‘demented’, or suffering from a number of different diseases.”
But it got to the point where Joe became convinced that he couldn’t win the re-election. His political backing was backing away, and he was becoming further isolated. I hear that he’s become angry and feels sabotaged by his old friends. I can understand what he’s going through right now. He managed to reach the pinnacle of his life by becoming president — something that eluded him his entire political career, and would never have come about now had it not been for Donald Trump and the COVID pandemic. He got a bonus spin of the wheel and became president. He wants to do two terms, like everyone else, but he’s hit the hardest wall of them all: the physical and mental aging process which is eroding his ability to perform the tasks and duties of the job. He will probably be alright through his current term, but what will he be like in six months? A year? Three years? We saw Reagan devolve throughout his second term. The signs were there, if you knew what to look for.
Through social media Biden tells the American people that he is going to bow out. Tomorrow he is going to do a prime-time televised speech to make it official. He’s going to make his “LBJ Speech”. Will he take it a step further and resign handing the presidency and the incumbency off to Kamila Harris?
No, he’s going to stick around. I don’t think that anyone is going to talk him into going that far.
The question is, what happens to all that “Hunter Biden” bullshit now? Are we still going to have hearings in the house looking into his coke-addled cock? Or are House Republicans going to suddenly find reasons to investigate Kamila Harris?
I know that Trump doesn’t like this one little bit. JD Vance has been losing his shit over the idea that Joe Biden isn’t going to run now. He even floated the idea of suing the Democratic Party if they decided to hold an electronic vote before the Democratic Convention — which was probably the stupidest thing I’ve heard him say to date.
Why in the flying fuck should Republicans be upset about HOW the Democrats choose their candidate? Not their circus, not their monkeys. It’s an entirely different clubhouse, with entirely different rules and agendas.
NOW the oldest presidential nominee in history is Donald J. Trump. All those attacks on Joe Biden’s age and mental agility will backfire and come back on Donald Trump with a vengeance. Now the focus on such ability will be on Trump — and he will faceplant.
But don’t look to Trump to do the right thing and bow out. JD Vance vs Kamila Harris would be a fight to see. Who would win?
Right now, Kamila is looking good to becoming Number 47.
My money is on the former prosecutor.
