Good morning from my office between the two stadiums in Seattle. It is Monday, and it is a beautiful day in the neighborhood, relatively speaking. I mean, it is the SODO district of Seattle, and it has been known as “skid row” since the mid-1850s when Seattle was a logging town, and the last jump-off point to Alaska.

This is the area where the first “skid row” became synonymous with drunken bums and the smell of urine in the doorways.

It’s an ‘interesting’ place to be in the wee hours of the morning. If you ever doubt the existence of zombies, you only need to walk around the SODO area at night, and you will see all sorts of them.

I’m not going to bore you with the news this morning. I can sum it up for you in a few words, if you’d like:

“You really don’t wanna know…”

There. That pretty much covers it. Go live in bliss.

Me? Still plugging away on my ASP.NET /SQL-Server project. I am at the mercy of ChatGPT as to whether I will finish this project any time soon. I swear that I am being punk’d by the Open.ai model sometimes…

I read an article yesterday that said when it comes to coding, ChatGPT is wrong about 52 percent of the time. I think this is wrong. It’s not even close.

I’d say ChatGPT is wrong about 7 out of 8 times — depending on the day and the time of the day. For example, anytime between 0300 and 0800 M-F , 0300 – 1300 on Saturdays seem to be the best time to use ChatGPT for coding. It seems to make the least amount of colossal mistakes during those times. On Sundays? Forget about it. Also the later in the day on any day is a very bad time to rely on AI.

Then there is the matter of resources — notably, the lack thereof.

All these generative AI models (and there are now thousands of them out there) take up an ungodly amount of electrical resources — and the datacenters housing them are starting to take down power grids.

But I digress.

I’m here today to provide an open thread — in case any of you have something to belch about.
