Debating on watching the Debate

Good morning from my office nestled between the two stadiums in Seattle. It is a Wednesday morning and I’ve been here since Tuesday Evening, as I am supervising the repairs of one of the two HUGE geothermal heat pumps in our restaurant kitchen. Yesterday was the removal and replacement of the three compressors and blower motor that went tits up during a single-phasing event.

Single-phasing is where one or two of the three legs of a three-phase voltage system drops out causing any three-phase motor to burn out. Most HVAC units that operate on 3-phase voltage have a ‘phase monitor’ in place to immediately shut things down when a leg drops out. For some reason, the manufacturer didn’t install one on this unit.

This is a three-day job, and I am going to have to be here overnight all three nights to get this done.

The Debate.

Oh DARN. I was asleep during the debate. I didn’t feel the need to get up two hours early to watch it, because I pretty much knew what the outcome was going to be, just as I knew ahead of time how the debate between Trump and Biden would turn out. Apparently, I was right on both accounts.

By almost every account other than Newmax or OANN, it appears that Kamala Harris wiped up the floor with Trump. Trump simply did not prepare for the debate, believing that his ‘charm’ and ‘tremendous’ intellect would steamroll over Harris. To his detriment.

Even Fox News had to grudgingly admit that Harris owned Trump, and managed to trigger him on several occasions. For example, what really fucked Trump up was when Trump accused Harris of paying people to come to her rallies, and Kamala retorted with telling him how many people leave early from boredom at his rallies.

Even though it has been thoroughly debunked by authorities throughout Ohio, Trump continued to try and spread the false claim that Haitians are eating cats and dogs in Springfield Ohio. Even JD Vance, who first brought up this myth, has admitted that “it probably isn’t true”. But The Donald still claims he “watched it on television”, and has even tried to back up that claim by posting a video of a black woman in Ohio who was arrested for killing and eating a cat back in August, with all the neighbors watching.

One small, if not a bit racist, problem: The woman, being black was NOT a Haitian. She was a mentally ill black, naturally-born American woman. It was the racist Right wingnuts like JD Vance and Donald Trump whose minds went directly to “Haitian Immigrant” when seeing a black woman being arrested.

Now there was an other report of a guy who witnessed four black men each with a “goose in their hands” as they left a park full of geese. He assumed they were “Haitian” because that’s how the storyline goes, but while a police report was made, police never did follow up or track down any of these ‘suspects’.

I figured that Harris was going to win the debate a couple of days ago when it was reported that Kamala Harris was doing a lot of debate prep work, and Donald Trump telling reporters that he didn’t need to prep, and that he was ready for whatever Harris had to throw at him.

Never mind that of the two, Kamala Harris is actually trained to debate legal arguments through the course of her job as an attorney and a state prosecutor. If you don’t prepare, you will lose.

Trump lost this debate.

But enough about the Debate

I like to listen to The Journal podcast at night as I am drifting off to sleep. Actually there are three or four of these podcasts that I listen to, but it’s the Wall Street Journal podcast that caught my attention yesterday morning when I was going to bed.

North Korean Spies Are Infiltrating U.S. Companies Through IT Jobs

Companies are unknowingly hiring North Koreans for hundreds of low-level jobs, giving Pyongyang access to cash and IP

Apparently, this is not a one-off. It’s happening more often than we even realize. Thousands of North Koreans are literally getting remote jobs working in IT in American companies, and collecting a paycheck that they turn over to the regime.

This company was looking for an IT professional with some pretty specific training, and this “Kyle” was the perfect guy for the job. So they hired him, and sent him a laptop, a phone, and put him to work.

This got me to wondering, if “Kyle” is in North Korea, how does he pick up his laptop and phone?

Well, that was answered. They don’t. Instead, the Norks have people here in the US who will collect these laptops, plug them in and hook them up to the Internet. Then “Kyle”, in North Korea, “works” from his “home”. The accomplice here in the US might collect three hundred laptops and hook them up in their home, getting paid as much as $500 a month for each laptop they have running.

Meanwhile, we are talking about immigrants eating pets?

Have we lost our collective minds?

That is a rhetorical question.

Now if you don’t mind, I have to go down and check up on my two HVAC techs…
