In case you are wondering why I haven’t been gloating about the shitstorm surrounding Donald Trump’s indictment, it’s because I see it mostly as the political ambitions of Alvin Bragg, who now has the “bragging rights” of being the first guy to criminally indict the legally-elusive Donald J. Trump, cad extraordinaire. His eye is on either the Governor’s Mansion or the White House.
This case is a boring one consisting mostly of misrepresentation and misdirection of the tax code. They are common cases with most of them resulting in a misdemeanor guilty plea and a fine. Bragg is using the state version of the RICO Act to elevate Trump’s charges into felonies. It’s not common, but he can do it. But then he also has to be able to convince a unanimous jury to go along on that trip.
Jon Stewart has pretty much summed up my entire feelings on this whole circus from the media on down.
