Good morning from my office stuck between two stadiums in Seattle. It is a Monday morning at 0500 and I am getting ready for another day of coding and whatnot. It’s the whatnot that bothers me most of the time. Yesterday, it was a fire alarm due to some idiot following the directions on the microwave popcorn package.

HINT: If you follow the directions on a microwave popcorn package, you are liable to end up with a lot of smoke and burnt pop corn. Oh, and a ruined microwave. If you are in an apartment or a hotel, you will probably be visited by a couple of trucks full of strapping firemen who are not there for a calendar shoot.

I see Tim Walz went out pheasant hunting to burnish his “hunter cred”. The instant I saw the photograph, my mind went directly here:

You too? So it wasn’t just me…

I’m not going to ignore the Orange Elephant in the room today. Some of his speechifying over the past few days has pretty much made this impossible for me to ignore. So let’s get started.

Straight out of the Authoritarian Dictator Handbook:

‘The enemy from within’: Trump calls Democrats more dangerous than U.S. foreign adversaries

“I think the bigger problem is the enemy from within … We have some very bad people we have some sick people, radical left lunatics,” he said.

Any unrest, Trump said, “should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary by the military, because they can’t let that happen.”

‘Totally illegal’: Trump escalates rhetoric on outlawing political dissent and criticism

Donald Trump is ramping up his rhetoric depicting his political rivals and critics as criminals, while dropping a long trail of suggestions that he favors outlawing political speech that he deems misleading or challenges his claims to power.

In a speech Friday in Aurora, Colorado, the Republican presidential nominee blasted the immigration system and lobbed a rhetorical grenade at his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.

“She’s a criminal. She’s a criminal,” said Trump, who was found guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in his New York hush money trial. “She really is, if you think about it.”

    • A questionable cut of a “60 Minutes” Harris interview? “Totally illegal,” Trump wrote on X, saying it makes Harris look better and that CBS should have its broadcast license revoked.
    • The Harris campaign editing headlines in paid Google ads? “Totally Illegal,” he wrote, vowing that Google “will pay a big price” for it.
    • Democrats are trying to “illegally hide” part of his statement calling on rioters to be peaceful on Jan. 6, he claimed this month.
    • In August, Trump told a crowd in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, that criticisms of judges who have ruled in alignment with him should be banned. “I believe it’s illegal what they do,” Trump said.

‘We Are Not Making This Up!’ James Carville Warns Trump Will Round Up His Enemies, Claims He’s Mimicking Nazi Rallies

James Carville warned that if Donald Trump returns to the presidency he will use the military to round up his political foes.

Moreover, Carville compared Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally scheduled to take place later this month to an American Nazi rally that occurred in 1939.

I did not realize when I said that that he would actually go on television and say, I’m going to use the military to round up my political enemies. When I said that out of General Flynn, who’s going to be very senior in this administration, didn’t say that the gates of hell will reign on my political enemies. When I said that, I didn’t know that he was going to schedule a rally at Madison Square Garden to mimic the Nazi rally of 10th February 1939. So we have they’re they’re telling you. And by the way, if they win, they’re going to correctly say, we we told you an election what we’re going to do and you voted for Bush. You have green lighted the whole thing. And if we don’t tell people about that, if they don’t, if these young black men — how do you think they’re going to do if you are young, black, male? And Trump inspired the army to round up of people. How well do you think you’re going to do…you think you’ve got nothing to lose?

How about looking at American history for one time and see what can happen here. And they are telling you we’re not making this up. This is not we can be fact checked by anybody. They have promised military round up. They’ve promised the gates of hell will reign on the enemies. The Supreme Court has greenlighted it. They were asked the question, if a Navy Seal is ordered to assassinate a political enemy — nothing wrong with that. That’s just part of his job. They are telling you they’re doing all of this. Pay attention to them right now, please. They’re telling you.

James Carville is an alarmist and most of the time I simply ignore him. But I think in this case, he may be right: Trump will want to go after his enemies with all the levers available to him if he were to become president again.

It’s hard to ignore the Trump rhetoric when he literally talks about using the US military to go after his political detractors. He wants to make it illegal to speak out against anything he is in favor of.

It is now okay for Trump supporters to vote by mail!

Trump spread conspiracies on mail-in voting for years. Now his campaign is urging people to vote early and by mail

Donald Trump’s campaign is making a last-minute push to advocate for early and mail-in voting, methods the former president has falsely vilified for years as dangerous and fraudulent.

So what changed? States with mail-in balloting haven’t changed anything. But now these ballots are ‘safe’ for Republicans to use?

Trump’s Mental Decline Noted

Chris Christie becomes latest to sound alarm over Trump’s ‘significant’ mental decline

Former Donald Trump ally turned staunch critic Chris Christie has become the latest to sound the alarm over the former president’s apparent mental decline, saying that he has seen a “significant” change in his capabilities.

The former New Jersey governor told The New York Times opinion journalist Frank Bruni that the Trump he saw during his first White House bid in 2016 appears to be very different to the man running for a third time today.

“He wasn’t as good in 2020 as he was in 2016,” Christie said.

“I saw decline in his skills in ’20 from ’16, and you see significant declines still. What masks it is that he is still physically pretty vibrant and energetic, unlike the president.”

He added: “But if you listen to him and his ability to make a point, it’s not nearly as good now as it was in 2016, not nearly.”

I watched the first ten minutes of the Trump/Biden debate and immediately came to the conclusion that Joe Biden wasn’t capable of a second term as POTUS. I even made this comment here on this site the following day — Joe Biden was toast, and virtually unelectable for another term. Pol Pot could have been running against Joe Biden and would have won.

Well, now that Joe Biden is shuffling off into mental decline, the attention is now shifted to the candidate who is only 700+ days younger than Joe Biden — Donald Trump. And Trump isn’t sounding like he is glued together tight enough.

About that “Great Protector of Women”…

‘Protector’ Of Women Trump Appears To Support ‘Knocking The Hell Out Of’ Female Heckler

Trump smiles and jokes about domestic violence awaiting woman ejected from his California rally

Donald Trump, who recently told American women to consider him their “protector,” mocked a female heckler ejected from his rally, and gloated that she would “get the hell knocked out of her” at home.

The startling public comment occurred after Trump was heckled by someone in the stands behind him at his rally Saturday in Coachelle, California. The woman was quickly escorted out by security guards.

Trump turned behind him, and smiling, mocked the woman, saying: “Back home to mommy. She goes back home to mommy … gets the hell knocked out of her.”

He claimed the woman’s “mother and father” are his supporters, even though he had no idea of the heckler’s identity.

This is also the guy who has been found to be guilty of rape and abuse of women and allegedly girls as young as thirteen. He refers to women he doesn’t consider ‘fuckable’ as “dogs”.

Republicans for Harris?

These are the Republicans endorsing Harris over Trump

Republican strategist Sarah Longwell, publisher of the Bulwark, a center-right online publication that opposes Trump, said the number of high-level Republican endorsements of Harris was unprecedented. She added that this lack of support for Trump — including from his own vice president, Mike Pence, who in March refused to endorse the former president — “sends an important signal to conservative-leaning swing voters.”

Dick Cheney? Really? If the Republican candidate for ANY office has lost Dick Cheney, then you know that the Republican candidate has to be a turd.
