Good morning from my condo in the Great White North in Coquitlam, British Columbia…
Not really. I am in my Hunker-Bunker overlooking the Puget Sound from my vantage point in West Seattle. I actually had plans to be up North this week to do some work at Sharpe Sound Studios, but it got pushed back until next month. It certainly would have been funny/fitting if I had gone.
I kept my word yesterday and didn’t pay one bit of attention to the news/election. It wasn’t until around 0100 this morning that my Echo dot informed me that Trump will be the 47th POTUS in a rather decisive victory over Kamala Harris.
I wasn’t surprised. Instead of going through the five stages of grief, I yawned and went back to sleep. In my mind, it didn’t matter who won: both were disastrous choices for different reasons. It’s like choosing how to die: do you pick the slow, painful death by spike, or the slow, painful death by crucifixion?
I suppose it could have been worse: Kamala Harris could have won, and we’d be subjected to months upon more months whining about another “stolen election”, where up is down, and sideways is straight ahead. Funny, how those claims of fraud “like nobody has ever seen before” have suddenly vanished as if the claims had never existed.
Within the next day or two, Harris will gracefully concede to Trump, and the transition of power will smoothly take place and on January 20 2025 Donald J. Trump will re-take the office of the presidency.
Ah, the government you deserve…
The News:
Donald Trump elected 47th president of the United States
The Fox News Decision Desk projects former President Trump has defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in a stunning victory, delivering him a second term in the White House after a historic election cycle filled with unprecedented twists and turns and two attempts on his life.
Trump defeated Vice President Harris, who entered this race just over 100 days ago after President Biden, who won the Democratic primaries, was convinced to stand down.
Trump was projected to have breached the 270 electoral vote threshold after stunning wins in the battleground states of North Carolina, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Georgia.
Trump’s comeback win was called by Fox News after it projected that he had won Wisconsin, a state he narrowly lost in 2020.
“I want to thank you all very much. This is great. These are our friends. We have thousands of friends in this incredible movement. This is a movement like nobody’s ever seen before,” Trump said during early morning remarks at a victory celebration in West Palm Beach, Florida. “I believe, the greatest political movement of all time.”
Trump said that this was going to be the “golden age of America,” thanking supporters for reelecting him.
“I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected the 47th president,” he said. “And every citizen, I will fight for you, for your family and your future. Every single day. I will be fighting for you. And with every breath in my body, I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve.”
This is a decisive win for Trump. It is the first time he got both the Electoral College vote, he also won the popular vote. Nobody could claim he’s ‘illegitimate’ because he lost the popular vote. It doesn’t mean that Trump is now a “popular president” like say, Obama was. I suspect a crapload of people didn’t vote or if they did, they left it blank as a “protest” vote to “teach us a lesson”.
I know that a shitload of kids on the Left are pissed off at the Biden/Harris administration over Israel. They blame Harris for what has happened in Gaza, so they weren’t voting for her in protest. (As if it were going to get any better under Donald Trump) This is a classic case of self-owned. We were all young and dumb once. Some are still dumb.
On the Other Leg of this Stool…
It appears that the Senate flips to the Republicans, putting Yertle back in charge, and Chuckles in the sidecar. The House is still too early to call at this writing.
Ah, but what’s the stock market doing?
Dow futures surge 1,200 points, Russell 2000 futures jump 6% as Trump defeats Harris
Stocks were poised for a booming rally Wednesday as Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election.
Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average soared 1,254 points, or about 2.9%. S&P 500 futures gained 2.4% and Nasdaq 100 futures climbed 1.8%. The last time the blue-chip Dow jumped more than 1,000 points in a single day was in November 2022.
NBC News projects that Trump will defeat his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, after winning 276 Electoral College votes, including key swing states of Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia.
This is what it says now. It is subject to change throughout the day.
Regular as clockwork
Every four years, some liberal Americans threaten to leave the country if a Republican wins the presidency. Canada has become almost a joke—or maybe a fantasy—in certain left-leaning circles, not just a country but an escape hatch, a next life waiting if the election goes the “wrong” way. But some liberals insist that they’re not joking this time: They are very scared, and very ready to leave if Donald Trump is reelected.
Thanks to a loophole in international law, I wound up with a dual citizenship in both the US and Canada at birth. to the US to give birth because there isn’t a viable birth center available. I do have property in Canada, and could easily move there as if I were moving across town. But most people don’t have Canadian citizenship so it isn’t quite as simple as that. In fact, it can be an absolute hassle, and the chances of being allowed to live/work in Canada just because you want to — is about slim to none.
Political asylum? From *checking notes* … … …. …. America?
“Get the fuck out of here!”
Trust me on this: The Grass ain’t any greener on the other side of that fence.
Metaphorically speaking, of course. The grass, and everything else IS absolutely greener. And colder. It’s beautiful , but fucking COLD. Even with global warming, it’s rigid nipply…
Many Democrats are waking up this morning to the news:
What? He’s leaving too?
Well, at least someone will never think about this:
What about all those guys expecting a civil war?
Found on Nextdoor:
This might leave a stain
And now the circus begins

There is always a silver lining, and for conservatives it is that this is a pro-life victory (especially here in Florida where we shot down the constitutional amendment). The blue wave backlash against Roe v Wade dying did not happen.
But with Trump’s win it is terrifying that the precedent has been set in the modern era that as long as you have the right policy positions then voters are willing to overlook corruption. It makes me worried about my children’s future in this country.
