Good morning from my Hunker-Bunker overlooking the Puget Sound and whatever it is out there in the fog. Today is a Wednesday, and I am in recovery mode. Yesterday was painful, and I think I’ve discovered chords of pain that is almost musical. There were harmonies, and a definite grunge feel to it. I provided the vocals, of course — I can hit some sustained high notes when I scream in pain…
Today I am stuffing my neck with breakfast. Scrambled eggs, guacamole, and a pancake. The sudden jabs of pain and my liver doing “The Wave” have passed. Of course I haven’t strained myself yet. But so far, so good…
I watched an unhealthy number of videos yesterday. There are a LOT of videos devoted to the events surrounding the UnitedHealthCare execution and its perpetrator. While I have yet to see any that are actually condoning the murder itself, there is that “BUT, ” in most people’s disapproval of the murder.
This murder has brought a simmering issue out into the open and it’s about to go full boil. There is a strong dissatisfaction with the current healthcare insurance system — and UnitedHealthCare is at every level of a patient’s experience. Even if you pay cash, the payment and billing and records keeping systems are owned by UnitedHealthCare.
I’ve had my own dealings with UHC. I suppose I could have filed an appeal and would have been granted a partial victory, but as a customer I shouldn’t have to be appealing the decision of an AI bot that is programmed to deny initial claims. I’d explain the appeal process, but that would take more time and space than all the videos I am about to share.

Geriatric Hip-Hop
Pete & Bas:
Pete & Bas are a British hip hop duo based in London, formed in 2017. The duo consists of two rap artists, Peter (Pete) Bowditch and Basil (Bas) Bellgrave (both stage names), who are both in their 70s. They are notable for the songs such as “The Old Estate”, “Dents in a Peugeot”, and their debut single, “Shut Ya Mouth”.
They released their first single in 2017 with “Shut Ya Mouth”. Pete discovered his enjoyment for hip hop after his granddaughter played rap music on his car radio. He shared this with Bas, and they decided it would be fun to release it on YouTube. The song was an immediate success and went viral, prompting them to begin creating new music. They have also performed successfully in gigs and concert tours across major European cities and have over a million followers on Instagram.
The duo have collaborated with several notable artists. Their single “The Old Estate” features rapper M24, and includes a video filmed on an estate in Rotherhithe, and at Millwall football stadium. After releasing a song named after the singer T-Pain, he joined Pete & Bas on a remix version in 2024. Pete & Bas have also collaborated with Norman Pain and Patrick Karneigh, Jr. of The Northern Boys.
Their first album, “Mugshot”, was released on 22 November 2024.
