AMERICAN TV news networks have made a series of embarrassing stuff-ups in their coverage of the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.It was a double whammy for Texas’ KXAN news, who not only misspelt the word ‘search’ in their infograph, but mistakenly placed Perth in Tasmania. While there is a Perth located in the north-east end of the Apple Isle, its a fair way away from the capital city in Western Australia. The two are close to 4000km apart, or a 2 day, ten hour drive.
Dear CNN, Perth is in Western Australia last time I checked.
CNN later placed Kuala Lumpur in Indonesia (For those that didnt know, Kuala Lumpur is the capital of MALAYSIA)..this is the same network that last year, placed Auckland (a city in NZ) in the middle of Australia. Auckland’s mayor could not be reached for comment, as he could not manage to draw breath in between fits of hysterical laughter
NBC, not to be left out of the general mayhem, also published this stupendous image during the bushfire season…well the word I had in mind DID start with “stup”..I’m feeling generous today
For those that are curious, according to US TV sources, that image shows Ayers Rock, half the outback and a mining town located 5000 miles from anywhere on fire.
And last, but definitely not least…read this, and NO it is not a hoax or a stunt.
Justin Casquejo, 16, sneaks past sleeping guard to top of 1 World Trade Centre
A NEW Jersey teen captivated by 1 World Trade Centre sneaked out of his home in the dead of night, got past the wall of security – and a sleeping guard – making it all the way up to the spire. Sixteen-year-old Justin Casquejo crawled through a hole in a Ground Zero fence at about 4 a.m. Sunday and got a lift up the tower from a clueless union elevator operator, even though he had no ID, reports The New York Post.
He was dropped off on the 88th floor and hiked the stairs up to the 104th floor – where a guard assigned to protect the top of the world’s biggest terror target was sound asleep. That guard has since been fired. Casquejo told cops he then climbed up to the roof and made it up to the antenna. After spending two hours atop the US’ tallest building snapping photos, the young daredevil was finally caught by a construction worker as he made his way back down.
“He came here and he ran hog wild,” said a stunned WTC worker.Casquejo, who lives in Weehawken, New Jersey, laughed the whole thing off yesterday when The Post asked him about his escapade.“Ha ha, oh yeah, that. Right. I would really love to talk to you guys because I have a lot that I want to say about it,” he said.“I was told that I just can’t (talk) without permission.”But he summed up his adventure in a one-word tweet: “Inspired.”
How did he get in?
Law-enforcement sources said Casquejo got into the heavily guarded site like a kid sneaking into an abandoned warehouse – though a crack in a barbed-wire fence.
The cops were probably off feeding their seeing eye dogs….
The Port Authority Police Department, the NYPD and a private security company patrol the building perimeter. Another private company secures the interior. None of them would comment.
Well yes, I can see why that might be………
