In which we get to congratulate ourself as well as any and all other fathers who might be reading this.
You know, there are times when we, watching the foul mess that a once free nation is turning into and knowing, without a reasonable doubt, where it all will and, indeed, must end, wonder if we did the Heirs any favors.
But then we realize that we’re being ridiculous. If this nation is ever to become anything even resembling the free, prosperous city on a hill that it used to be, then we’ll need a future as well as a present, and our children are the future. Without them, there really would be little if any reason to put up a fight at all. Also, they are the best thing that has ever happened to this Grumpy Old Imperial Totalitarian and every day I spend with them is a present from above.
And no matter what, it could be worse. We could be living in the Obamunist Utopia of Shitcago (h/t Director Blue):
Seven people were killed and at least 30 others were shot in violence that plagued Chicago over Father’s Day weekend.
Six of the fatalities and 11 other shootings occurred overnight Saturday leading into Father’s Day, including the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy.
On the Southwest Side, five people were shot, one fatally, in two shootings in the Little Village neighborhood.
