TWO bombs have exploded at the Boston Marathon, killing two people, including an eight-year-old child, and injuring more than 50. The White House is handling the incident as “an act of terror” and US President Barack Obama said “we will find out who did this and hold them accountable”
About 2.45pm local time (4.45am AEST), about three hours after the winners crossed the line, there was a loud explosion on the north side of Boylston Street, just before the photo bridge that marks the finish line. Another explosion could be heard a few seconds later.
A Boston Globe staffer said on Twitter that dozens of people have been injured.
Runner Laura McLean of Toronto said she heard two explosions outside the medical tent.
There is video footage of the bombs being planted, and sources state a Saudi man is in custody at this time.
UPDATE: The report of a Saudi man being held are false. The local authorities report they have no one in custody at this time.
