“If you say that we should not educate children who have come into our state for no other reason than they have been brought there by no fault of their own, I don’t think you have a heart,” Perry said, after being criticized by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for a Texas policy providing in-state tuition for illegals.

You see, His Imperial Majesty is actually getting the part about “why should the kids be punished for their parents’ behavior.” Sins of the fathers and all that, or should we start throwing children of bank robbers in jail too?

Fuck, his Imperial Vileness can even slap down the “discrimination against students from the other 49 states” line without breaking a sweat, seeing as how that’s generally what in-state tuition rates do, you know, whether you’re here legally or not. If your opponents want to pursue that line, then they’ll have to come down hard against any sort of in-state tuition rates, lest the poor kids from Iowa be discriminated against in their quest to get a degree in Texas.

But there is no way in Hades we can help out with the “no heart” bull crap. We don’t need anybody to tell us what we need to believe in order to “have a heart.” That particular holier-than-thou condescending claptrap is exactly what we’re everloving sick and fucking tired of hearing from anybody.

Are they legally entitled to those rates? Fuck no, as they’re not legal residents, and perhaps we ought to do something about that. Actually, we pretty much have to do something in order to be consistent. Either they’re here and can stay, in which case they do qualify for in-state tuitions as they live here, or we’re going to have to round them up and deport them. Pick one, because “they’re here but they’re not” isn’t logically consistent. I’m not sure I like either of those options. Their parents, sure, they were the ones breaking the law, but their kids?

But kindly cease and desist with the lecturing us about our heartlessness because we don’t agree with your particular solution to the problem. It’s only making us pissed off and you wouldn’t like us when we’re pissed off.

You’re on your own there, Rick.

Thatisall.
