Good morning from my office nestled between two stadiums in Seattle. I’ve had two days off to install new carpet and wallpaper in my office. I spent the time at home finishing up my home theater project. The wife surprised me with a popcorn machine.
The Headlines That Caught My Eye This Morning at 0500
Item 1: Texas Supreme Court Temporarily Halts Court-Approved Abortion
This reminds me a lot of the Right wingnut meddling in the case of Terri Schiavo. Another case where Republicans can’t seem to keep their fucking nose in their own business, they have to make it difficult, — if not potentially deadly — for people for whom they have no business with, let alone even know.
This woman, Kate Cox, is pregnant with a fetus that will most surely die if the pregnancy is taken to term. More than likely, the fetus will probably be stillborn. On top of that, the likelihood of permanent damage to her uterus will prevent her from having another child — which is something that she wants.
Doctors have examined her and have determined that the ONLY thing that can be done to save her uterus is to abort the current pregnancy.
Item 2: Tax charges in Hunter Biden case are rarely filed, but could have deep political reverberations
This is true. Both the tax charges and the gun charges are RARELY, charged, if at all. I can speak from personal experience on the tax charges. I was in a major dispute with the IRS over eight years worth of income from when I lived and worked exclusively in British Columbia – as a Canadian citizen (I have dual citizenship). I hadn’t been in the US for eight years, yet apparently because I am also American, I owe taxes to this shithole no matter where I am in the world. That tax bill was just shy of $800k, and at NO time was I ever looking at criminal charges. Instead, it took me another five years and a lawsuit to beat the IRS back into their hole.
The gun charges? Also, seldom charged, unless the person is an ex-felon. (Hunter is not)
Sounds fitting…
Item 4: RNC announces it won’t hold future 2024 GOP primary debates
Wait, what? They already had four debates? I must have missed them. Darn.
Item 5: Seattle cancels plan for privately funded playground at nude beach
Denny Blaine Beach is a park on the shore of Lake Washington in Seattle, and for almost fifty years it has been a nude beach site, made popular by the LBGT+(the rest of the alphabet) people in the region. It’s uniquely situated so that the line-of-sight keeps it pretty secluded.
It’s one of almost sixty beaches located around the lake that are open and accessible to the public. The problem arose when a “anonymous donor” came forward with $550k to develop a playground on the park. The caveat on the donation was that it had to be this ONE park, and no other. Obviously, it was some fucknozzle who thought he or she could spend some money to kick the queers out of the park. The pushback was glorious.
Item 6: Comer says special counsel indicted Hunter Biden to ‘protect him’ from House GOP investigation
This has nothing to do with anything that Hunter Biden has done in or with his life, and everything to do with trying to embarrass Hunter Biden’s father. None of you really give a flying fuck about Hunter Biden not paying taxes or trying to obtain a firearm while using drugs within thirty days of the application. Ironically, these are two items that Republicans would like to shit-can: Gun control and taxes.
Comer wants Hunter Biden to testify behind closed doors in his kangaroo court so that he can cherry-pick parts of Biden’s testimony so he can release it out of context.
When Hunter Biden offered to testify in an OPEN hearing in front of God and everyone, suddenly Comer didn’t like that idea.
Comer and Company have also been chastising Special Counsel David Weiss for NOT charging Hunter Biden with a pile of charges, so when Weise finally does, Comer has to find something else to complain about — this time being the fact that Weiss charged Hunter Biden, which potentially keeps Biden from having to testify before Comer’s kangaroo court.

In 2033, humans can “upload” themselves into a virtual afterlife of their choosing. When computer programmer Nathan Brown dies prematurely, he is uploaded to the very expensive Lakeview, but then finds himself under the thumb of his possessive, still-living girlfriend Ingrid. As Nathan adjusts to the pros and cons of digital heaven, he bonds with Nora, his living customer service rep. Nora struggles with the pressures of her job, her dying father who does not want to be uploaded, and her growing feelings for Nathan while slowly coming to believe that Nathan was murdered.

STFThe IDF’s Arabic spokesman has published footage showing Hamas stealing humanitarian supplies from Gazan residents.
