Brit Hume somehow manages to notice the story that the rest of the Cover For Obama Media don’t seem to have much interest in: The ATF Free Machine Guns for Mexican Cartel Bosses Program™ and the ensuing investigation, which the Make Believe Media is even less interested in.

During the web exclusive “Panel Plus” segment of “Fox News Sunday,” Hume said that this scandal begs the question of what Obama Attorney General Eric Holder knew about Operation Fast and Furious and when did he know it.

“This is a real scandal,” Hume said. “And once again, we have the classic question of what did the attorney general, for example, know? When did he know it?”

Hume likened Obama’s handling of the scandal to that of Nixon’s handling of Watergate, which ultimately resulted in Nixon’s resignation.

“This Obama Justice Department reminds me of nothing so much as the Nixon Justice Department,” he said. “You have the scent of high-level knowledge of serious wrongdoing and you have the smell of cover-up and I think the stench of cover-up on this gun-running operation is very strong indeed.”

Of course, the ATF story broke after the Make Believe Media discovered that dissent was no longer the “highest form of patriotism.”

Regarding the “who knew what and when did they know it?” we’re left with only a very few options:

1) Heinrich Holder and Ogabelini knew nothing at all about all of this, which would require that some bureaucrat in the ATF actually decided to run all of this without letting his superiors know and thus placing ever iota of responsibility on himself, should it turn out to be a clusterfuck.

Yeah. That’s what we thought too. The only lifeforms more cowardly than Weepy Boner are bureaucratic administrators.

2) Heinrich Holder and Ogabelini did know what was going on and either a) wholeheartedly condoned shipping illegal weapons to known murderers or b) thought that it was no big deal.

Neither a) nor b) are particularly flattering, we’d say.

But hey, it’s not like we’re going to find enough balls in Congress for this to have any actual consequences, so who cares? Consequences are for ladies growing vegetables in their own yards in open defiance of the Almighty State.

Thatisall.

UPDATE: Set of Congressional Balls located:

Florida Republican Rep. Allen West is demanding that President Barack Obama force Attorney General Eric Holder to resign.

Appearing on Nashville radio host Steve Gill’s show last week, West said Obama would be “complicit” with what he sees as Justice Department attempts to slow down and avoid a congressional investigation into Operation Fast and Furious and Project Gunrunner if he didn’t push his attorney general to resign. “The president needs to realize that Eric Holder needs to be removed from the Department of Justice,” West said after detailing why he thinks Holder should appear before an investigative committee to testify about how the DOJ has handled its response to the Operation Fast and Furious investigation. “Or else I believe President Obama is complicit and he is in approval of the actions of his attorney general.”

Most assuredly, Colonel West, but we have to add that even throwing Holder under the bus won’t acquit Ogabelini. Only proof that he didn’t know a thing about what was going on or, rather, absence of proof that he did (it’s never proper to demand that somebody prove a negative) can do that. But dumping Heinrich Holder is, at this point, the minimally acceptable first step after his Department of “Justice” has, once again, been found stonewalling an investigation and obstructing justice.

Good on you, Colonel West, although we can’t say that we’re surprised by your intestinal fortitude. You’ve proven that more than adequately in the past already.
