Lt. Michael Murphy won the Medal of Honor in 2005 by exposing himself to intense enemy fire to try and call in support for his SEAL team who were under attack by an overwhelming force of Taliban fighters in the Konar Province of Afghanistan.

Today, on what would have been his 35th birthday, the U.S. Navy is further honoring the fallen hero by christening a destroyer, the USS Michael Murphy, in his name.

Fair Winds and Following Seas to the USS Michael Murphy DDG112, and all those who sail aboard her.

“They that go down to the sea in ships; That do business in great waters; These see the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep.”

(H/T Muscle Daddy for the heads up.)
