As of this writing at a little after 10 pm Central, it has been projected by several media outlets that the GOP has taken control of the Senate, and picked up at least 10 seats in the House. In addition, 36 governor’s races were voted on, and the GOP has so far picked up several of them, with a number of seats still too early to call. Of the Governor races called at this time, the GOP leads 16 to 5. For the latest, check out Ace’s Decision Desk here.

Some of the most enjoyable events of the evening include the trampling of Abortion Barbie at the polls. She loses her bid for Texas Governor in a landslide, while also seeing her state seat go to a Tea Party member. Perfect. Also, if you have managed to sneak a look at MSNBC election coverage, it has been hilarious. Chris “Tingles” Matthews looks like his dog has been run over. The liberal angst on Twitter right now is also truly delicious. We experience these moments so infrequently that we need to drink them in when they occur. It is also great fun to picture alleged pedophile and crook  Harry Reid sitting alone in a dark room weeping into a pint bottle of schnapps.

However you look at these early results, it is clearly a referendum on the dreadful-in-every-conceivable-way leadership of the Democratic party. It is also an election that puts the lie to so many of the Democrat talking points during the run-up to the election, like the War on Women, Republicans are Racists (as of this writing, the few Democrats winning state-wide offices are all Caucasian, while the GOP has made history in racial diversity tonight) and ObamaCare is popular among the voters (HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAA).

Some of these GOP wins were hold-your-nose affairs (i.e., McConnell), and I am deeply suspicious of the fact that the Wendy Davis blowout was not much larger than the numbers suggest. We will have to wait awhile for a feel for just how much these results were reduced by what has become a well-oiled Democrat voter fraud machine, but for now it appears that the wave of Obama-induced nausea that has passed over America has been sufficient to overcome theft in this go-round.

Any celebration will have to be brief. There will be the usual temptation among most politicians to forget the voters for the time being, and get about business as usual. But if we are unable to do some extremely important things to unwind the last 6 years of insanity and restore the rule of law and Constitutional principles to government with this new majority, it will have been all for naught.
