Not The Kind Of CHANGE! They Had HOPEd! For

There’s a very good reason that the Magic Marxist Messiah & His Mental Midget Moronic Minions™ are shaking in their recycled plastic wannabe jackboots— They see this kind of response to their New New Deal Stalinist 5-Year Plan.

TALLAHASSEE — People in Florida are fearful of the economic future, and one way they are coping is by buying guns.

It’s not just the “economic future” that has people “fearful“, our good lil’ journaljizmer. There’s a little thing called “personal liberty” that’s being buried faster than Vince Foster’s body.

The state office that issues concealed weapons permits is buried under a backlog of 95,000 applications, and doesn’t have enough money in its budget to do the job. A legislative budget panel is being asked to approve a midyear budget transfer of nearly $4 million to catch up to the demand for permits.

Now there’s some “HOPE!” that you can take to the bank, right there. Dictatorships absolutely hate an armed citizenry and they’ll use every ruse and justification (“It’s For The Chillllllrenz!”, being the meme d’ jour.) to make damned sure that The People don’t have the means to defend and rid themselves of their overlords. (See: Shi’ite majority in Saddam’s Iraq & Germany circa 1939, for just two examples.)

”People are getting scared,” said Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson. “The economy is scaring them. They don’t want their houses broken into.”

With all due respect to Commissioner Bronson (He’s a good guy and very good Ag Commissioner), We The People aren’t getting CCW’s so that we can protect themselves in our houses (We’ve already got the New & Improved Castle Doctrine here in FL.)— We’re getting them so that we can protect ourselves on the streets. But, yes, people are getting more and more scared, each and every day, as they see what Hell “Teh 52’s” (along with their boot-licking, ankle-grabbing RINO friends) have wrought upon our country.

    Also, DJ,

Several of the governors have said they would refuse bailout money, only to be overruled by their state legislatures. I don’t think ANY of the states should be getting bailout money. That makes them beholden to the feds.

  2. 52

The state bailout “money” (loans, to folks who know the diff’) is kinda like them stupid mailers you get that gleefully announce that a line of credit has been reserved in your name.
They won’t mention how long the teaser rates will last, or how high they will be by the time the card’s maxed out.
    ONLY:
In bo’s case, the card comes pre-maxed.

It’s a lot harder to pack, living overseas as I do now. But I have a couple of trusted friends who are taking care of my little arsenal. When I’m back in the States for good, I won’t leave home without it.

You should come back asap. Your finger will be needed.

Maybe I will use that 8000$ refund next year to pay for a ton of guns and ammo

I had to sell my car for a 1/4 of that(which I did the same thing with)

And yes, on any given afternoon or evening, I do actually appear to have the “protection” of the police department. Several of them, local, state and federal. My roommate, being a medically retired police captain has a lot of friends who stop by. You could say the place is usually crawlin’ with cops. A lot of times there are so many cop cars here that it looks like a major drug bust is going on. Not a great place to be if you are a bad guy.

BUt what about two streets down? If all the cops are at you house, then somewhere else in town is unprotected and thats exzctly why people regardless of political views buy guns for sell protection. Although with the exception of Deej and his lib friends ( who i think are secretly conservative) i doubt any true liberal will have the galls to actually use their gun to save their life.

What I find hilarious is that Haley Barbour, (receiving $2.02 for every dollar his state contributes) Sarah Palin, (receiving $1.84 for every dollar her state contributes — which makes her the official earmark queen) and “Brady Bunch Bobby” Jindal (receiving $1.78 for every dollar his state contributes) are making noises about not accepting the money from the stimulus package.

And who was in charge of the state when those policies where enacted? and as far as im concerned Palins was surplanted by Pelosi.

I know that people here WANT to make it about gun control and that isn’t it. We’ve been through several periods where there have been talk and action on gun control and it hasn’t effected gun sales like the basic fear of economic disaster.

That doesn’t explain the rise in guns sales right after the election last november before BO had his adresses about doom and gloom.

My compliant is when they tend to complain about how bad this redistribution of wealth is, and yet these conservatives tend to be the largest takers on the federal state welfare program.

See thats where your confused, their not conservatives. Their wolves in Shepards clothing.

It would be a faulty guess then, because it is typically the blue areas that generate the most tax dollars — including those evil black people you are disparaging.

I would bet that most of the e-e-e-vil military budget goes to those horrible red states.

In my not-so-humble opinion, probably one of the most important military bases resides right in the heartland…Offutt AFB in Nebraska. The base’s underground command post (to which Bush was spirited away on 9-11), and the airborne command post, Looking Glass, have the capacity to “run” the entire military.

Obama wants to cut military spending. Our defense bases (like Offutt) had better be the last ones to go. If we lose Offutt, we’ve lost it all. If and when the enemy’s missiles get past the eastern and western defenses, there’s no one left but Offutt.

Apparently, Southern Illinois was served by the private sector when their electricity was hooked up:

From the website of the Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative:

Years ago, there lived a man named Joseph C. McCormick, who by trade was a farmer, although in later years he became a rural mail carrier. Less than a hundred yards from his farm home in rural Olmsted, in Pulaski County, there stretched a transmission line of a private power company.

Let the businesses that fail, fail. There will be someone else to provide the service that may not. If you’re not willing to get off your dead ass and TRY, starve. TO CARE. FOR. ME. AND. MINE! If I can’t figure MY finances to do that, it’s MY fault not yours. MY responsibility, not yours. If you want to help, personally, by slipping an envelope of money into my mailbox in the middle of the night, thank you so much! YOU chose to help me personally. But for the government to TAKE my money for that purpose takes it out of MY hands. That’s what’s wrong here.

We can speculate on that all day, and lets hope that the situation doesnt “progress” to a proof in the pudding scenario.

And being as there seems to be a cross spectrum purchasing pattern, one has to admit to a certain irony regarding legislature to “ban” certain firearms.

In regards to who “fuels” this nation and provide for whom…. its somewhat symbiotic…. but from a survival perspective… if the balloon goes up the country folks possess better basic survival skills than thier urban bretheran. And they could come out and take over the farm… but just like Zimbabwe…. just cause you possess something doesnt mean you know what to do with it. In the rural areas its not the farms that the urbans would have to really worry about…. its the small towns. I already have a plan of how to organize & defend my little portion of the world. I could have contigencies, basic defenses and personnel up and running in 72hrs. And this includes gun truck response teams. It wouldnt be much fun if the opposition didnt present a challenge. True survival skills mean that you acquire the knowledge, and then apply it. Regularly. Whether it is using a firearm for hunting or target practice, you do it. Growing food in an apartment for several people can be done, but it has to start somewhere. Same with identifying edible wild plants. You get the field guides (the best ones show all geographic areas with the plant matter in color and in different seasons) and apprentice to someone who lives off wild foods. I recommend the book “My Side of the Mountain” for starters.

It is not conducive to survival to have to shift gears mentally after the fact, but to carefully consider and prepare for the scenarios of no food, no fuel and no money. Grow your own food, get a bike and learn to barter. The ones who survive the best are the ones who are prepared for it.

I learned to preserve foods, as well as grow them. If city slickers knew what they could do to help themselves and had the desire to do so, there may not be welfare payouts, either.

As for taking it…my five guns say no. Yet I would be one of the first to help alleviate a true need, be it medical or otherwise. But no one has the excuse of claiming ignorance. I see Obamas halo beginning to crack, some claiming, correctly, his policies are slowly jeopardizing if not destroying any chance of recovery. It may be deliberate, or through socialist zeal. A fine line he treads, making their power play, seeking to force socialism though related dependency. He may soon discover how much power many groups have, be it financial or otherwise. The conservative dems, and more than a few others, fear the NRA and the off the charts gun sales. Yet many, of not most of these folks, will never shoot them, providing a false and quite dangerous sense of security. If you do not know how to shoot your AK and I do know how to shoot my .45 or rifle…….they could have a problem, and I would have an AK. I have seen to it my .45 is second nature to me, I do believe my wife will poach that big .357 revolver, the workings of a semi auto difficult for her at times. A fine choice, actually, all things considered. And she loves the shotgun. I like the lever action rifle, a poor mans semi auto. I wanted three months supplies laid in.
