Making An Example of Those He Fears.

Stalin would be so proud.

A Camp Lejeune, N.C., Marine has been charged with threatening Barack Obama before the president was sworn into office last month.

Yep, definitely a crime. Unless of course the President was George W. Bush.

Kody Ray Brittingham, 20, faces up to five years in prison and three years of supervised release if convicted of threatening the president-elect, according to U.S. Attorney George E.B. Holding.

Brittingham also could be fined up to $250,000.

Five years and a quarter million dollar fine. Must have been pretty serious threats, plans, a real assination in waiting huh?

According to a news release, Brittingham told people in November that he intended to shoot Obama, among other things.

Wow, information overload there. So many details to sift through and sort out. A whole shitpot of context and mitigating circumstances to ponder also. I have never been given so many details in one sentence before in my life. Surely this intrepid reporter will recieve a Pulitzer for his sterling jounalism, no? Well I did some research, and the Marine in question is in fact a maggot shitbird who’s cooling his heals in Onslow County jail right now on armed robbery charges to boot. Wouldn’t know it from this tripe though.

“We take all threats against the president and other high officials of the United States very seriously,” Holding said. “The threat itself represents a disruption of the United States government, even if no actual attempt is made to carry out the threat.”

Really? BOO! How much of the government did that disrupt ya jackass?

Obama is expected to unveil his plans to withdraw combat troops from Iraq today. He is scheduled to arrive on Air Force One at the Cherry Point Marine Corps Air station in the morning, according to a White House news release.

Obama will speak from the Goettge Memorial Field House about 11:45 a.m., the release said.

There’s the real rub here. Obama plans on announcing his plans to surrender in Iraq at Camp LeJeune, in front of a whole bunch of Marines who don’t like him all that much (Don’t believe me? Look at their faces as he spoke to them). He is going to tell them that their sacrifices were for nothing. That despite their exemplary service on the field of battle, despite their hard won victory, all of it was for nothing. He is going to “end” the war by a pre-determined date. And he refuses to use the words “victory” or “win”, only “end”. He is telling the Marines to fuck off, and is denying them the recognition of the victory that they have acheived, while simultaneously allowing photos of the flag draped caskets of their fallen brethren to be used by Code Pink and their ilk for their own vile purposes.  He has spit on their sacrifice, on their losses, on their honor. And he is doing it in their own fucking house.

I really don’t care that some shitbird is facing charges for some vague  threat. It is illegal after all. What burns my ass is that for eight years explicit death threats against the President, made in the popular culture, the media, blogs, you name it, were encouraged by the left. But one maggot is to be made an example of the very same week Obama pisses in the Corps’ wheaties.

Like Misha say’s, if standards are good, double standards must be twice as good. And when they have the added benefit of sending a clear message to those Obama knows are his moral superiors, even better.

I saw the marxist in chief talking in front of those Marines, and they did not look too happy….hell, I wouldn’t be either if my CinC just gave the enemy the greenlight date for starting their savagery again.

As for the shitbird that made the threat….he’s too damned stupid to be a Marine, boot him out and good riddance.

He is telling the Marines to fuck off, and is denying them the recognition of the victory that they have acheived, while simultaneously allowing photos of the flag draped caskets of their fallen brethren to be used by Code Pink and their ilk for their own vile purposes. I went to the funeral of a local Marine who was killed over there, it was one of the most humbling, most emotionally wrenching things I’ve ever done. I stood outside and held a flag on the street with Patriot Guard Riders and Vets as his hearse went by and I was honored to be asked to do that. These demoRat bastards only want to use these heroes….heroes who have given their very lives to defend us….as a propaganda tool. They care nothing for the depth of that sacrifice nor do they give a damn for the families.

I usually shrug off all the talk about revolution and civil war and such, it’s good to vent about those things, but it’s a dangerous thing to try unorganized….but now I’m taking a second look at what’s happening to our nation and our freedoms. I’m wondering if the overturning of 200+ years of the grand experiment is becoming a reality, if we really are seeing the socialist takeover of America……think about it for a moment, look at what has happened in a short month:

Hillary stabs Israel in the back
    Holder considers gun grabbing
Bank nationalization is becoming a reality
    Health care is being socialized
There is serious talk about regulating broadcast content
congressional redistricting/census is being taken over to solidify power

I’m doped up on cold medicine and that’s all I can remember off the top of my head, but that’s what’s happened in less than a month…this has to be some sort of Dali-esque nightmare or something. This can’t be happening in the same nation that was forged by citizen soldiers who assembled at a minutes notice on the town squares of Lexington and Concord, and who froze to death in winter quarters at Valley Forge, and suffered defeat after defeat but fought on in the name of freedom and country…..it should not be happening in the nation of the Alamo and Gettysburg and Yorktown and Saratoga, I refuse to accept it, but I’m too damned old to actively revolt against the powers to be, hell I can barely run given the condition of my shitty knees. But too many brave men, better men that I will ever be, have sacrificed their futures to make this nation what it is…..the land of the free and the home of the brave….too many have given their all for me not to do SOMETHING, ANYTHING to preserve what they died for. We must do something, be it getting active in our local parties, or running for office ourselves, or harrassing the shit out of our so-called representatives

or openly telling these socialist/marxist/ungrateful so-called fellow citizens of ours that “NO, you will not take away my God given and guaranteed freedoms away”, and if you are offended by my exercising of those rights and freedoms then so be it….you have that right too, but never NEVER forget:

We are the greatest nation ever
We are the shining example for the rest of the world to aspire to
We are the free-est people on the face of the earth
We welcome all other people to come and share in the glory of being Americans
We willingly sacrifice our best and bravest to help other nations be free
We neither conquer nor oppress, but we liberate

We are Americans, and I hold that God given honor closely and in an iron grip…and don’t even try to take it away from me.

(sermon is over, back to bed for me)

Deej, I’m not saying it’s not a crime. Of course it is. What I was saying, as Cheapshot so quickly pointed out, is that there was NO action taken against the hundreds of threats against Bush, such as in the example Cheap posted. They were, if not actually applauded as free speech and dissent, then at the least swept under the rug by the MSM.

This guy is a dumbass maggot, like I said in the post. What pissed me off is the lack of details of what he said, the timing of the announcement (The same day that Teh One was speaking at LeJeune), and most importantly the double fucking standard.

  10. 10

A president (not even Obama) would even get involved in something like this, and I seriously doubt he has even heard of it.

Maybe, maybe not. It still has the same impact.

I’m still at a loss about the “war in Iraq” thing. We defeated Saddam and his henchmen, helped the people of Iraq establish a new government and watched them ELECT their government officials, etc. So, how are we still at war with Iraq? As far as I can see, we are simply fighting the war on terror in Iraq. These so-called “insurgents” are simply terrorists that the MSM is afraid to call by their proper name. Someone please explain this if I am wrong here.

  12. 12

Nope, you’ve got it down Cannon Fodder. It’s not a war, it’s a theater in a war. And it’s a battle we’ve won so far, and are on the verge of a complete victory. Along comes Bambi to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory, just in time for Al Quaeda to finish rearming in A-stan and shift it’s focus back to Iraq. What a brilliant fucking strategy.

Since I was surrounded by politically active conservatives, I was surprised by the number or people that didn’t already know this story and hadn’t already heard it.

Entire rows gasped during the playing of “Fitna” as if they had no idea such Islamic propaganda hadn’t been such a part of their daily lives.

It was a Saturday when he flew in. Myself and some friends were under the trees near the JAG offices when his helicopter convoy flew overhead. We “saluted” and prompted did the only thing that felt right considering the circumstances, we left the base until he was gone.

That is absolutely true, BUT! you cannot just ignore the “57,400 matches in .18 seconds to “kill bush merchandise”” that was just mentioned.

Funny that all the would-be Bush exterminators never made the news, but one disgrace to his uniform did.

Threats to the president aren’t that common, but they are taken quite seriously when reported — it doesn’t matter who the president is. Make a threat, and let the Secret Service find out about it and you are toast. They ain’t fucking around.

Nor should they. The objection is not to the fact that this little assbag is going down, the objection is to the fuss being made of it when similar and worse threats were made to GWB and not a single word was said, along with the aforementioned merchandise links STILL BEING ACTIVE!

And lastly, the condescending attitude of the Lefties (yourself included) is getting really old. Threat to Bush, no big deal. Threat to “Teh ONE”, OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn’t sound like Crunchie is going easy on him to me. Now, as to how many people were convicted for threatening W’s life, it shouldn’t be too hard to find that out. Last I checked, criminal court records were public documents. I can’t do it right now, but I’d be happy to conduct a search when I get back tonight, or possibly tomorrow. “Polite” is the best way to describe it. I laughed out loud when I heard the MSM report on the radio. Reporter described the Marines applauding enthusiastically. But what I heard after the speech was hesitancy and then polite, scattered applause, as though they were waiting for the signal to clap and then responded with enough to keep them out of trouble. Loons were making threats against Obama during the election also. This one last summer was probably the first.

This whole thing is pretty much a non-issue.
Under law, the Secret Service operates under a rather simple premise – they don’t care who the President is and they don’t care who you are.
You make wit da threats, you getta fooked.
That’s how the Secret Service rolls.

  30. 30

    Sig94,

Then perhaps you can explain why sites like the one Jay linked to is still in operation, and its owner very likely still walking the streets? And why Kos and DU weren’t shut down a long time ago?

  31. 31
    sig94 says:

    Skye,
I found nothing whatsoever in Jay’s link (a photo of a dead Pope with Bush thinking that it was Santa Claus) that would qualify as a threat to the President. Disrespectful? Of course. Unlawful? No.

This discussion has nothing to do with speech that we like or dislike. It has everything to do with the law.

Nobel Peace Prize winner Betty Williams apologized Thursday for saying she could kill President Bush, remarks that drew scorn from Bush loyalists and shook up the International Women’s Peace Conference in Dallas.

This comment by another loon is much closer to the mark but it still does not cross the threshold between Constitutionally protected political speech and a threat.
    I should…
    I could…
    Someone should…
    I wish I could…
    Somebody will…

These are not the same as
    I WILL
“I will” states an intended course of action – a common law “mens rea” or intent to commit a crime indicting a culpable mental state. When coupled with a threating communication it is illegal.
I could/should/would kill you is not I will kill you.

“I should” does not provide intent.
    From Dictionary.com:

Because the main function of should in modern American English is to express duty, necessity, etc. (You should get your flu shot before winter comes), its use for other purposes, as to form a subjunctive, can produce ambiguity, at least initially: I should get my flu shot if I were you.

There is no ambiguity in “I will.”

Semantics? Perhaps, but after all, we ARE talking about communications, whether oral, written or electronically transmitted. We may not like certain types of communications; I certainly have a rather large list of them that I feel deserve a good stiff poke in the puss; with a 2X4.
What doth piss me off doth not always mean someone has to go to jail.

I feel some websites are over the line and should be shut down. But will they be? Are they illegal in the strict sense of the word? If we advocate for something, some cause, no matter how offensive, is that still not protected speech? If those websites are shut down for carrying offensive material, then wouldn’t this site also suffer the came fate? Somewhere, somehow someone is always offended no matter what the speech.

And if it doesn’t offend someone, then it truly ain’t much to talk about either. Who cares…

Now let’s look at similar Google searches.
Results 1 – 10 of about 8,990,000 for kill president bush. (0.16 seconds)
Results 1 – 10 of about 9,660,000 for kill president obama. (0.16 seconds)
    (emphasis min)

In office for less than 6 weeks and already Obama is leading the pack by over half a million hits.

If you were in the Sercret Service, who would you be more concerned about? Some Kos shithead liberal democrat loon living in his parent’s basement or a pissed off working man with some real skills?

I hope this discussion proves to be of some value even if I have offended someone. Isn’t that what free speech is all about?

  32. 32

My lil’ google trip was to discover how many sites actually sold kill bush merchandise, without fear. Complete ensembles, no problem.
Of course the search would also include contexts that would include all manner of other combinations of the three search words. Those wouldn’t be very relevant to the point.
I put o’bos name where bush was, couldn’t even find a pair of pajamas. Just variations of the the syntax.
