So, What Took Them So Long?

It looks like somebody at the FBI finally dug out the memo from under their stacks of donut boxes and empty coffee cups (h/t Sir Christopher):

The FBI is severing its once-close ties with the nation’s largest Muslim advocacy group, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, amid mounting evidence that it has links to a support network for Hamas.

All local chapters of CAIR have been shunned in the wake of a 15-year FBI investigation that culminated with the conviction in December of Hamas fundraisers at a trial where CAIR itself was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator.

One should note that the Holy Land Foundation was designated as a terrorist financer back in 2001, at which point the FBI froze their assets. Also worth remembering is that the overlap in personnel between the HLF and CAIR goes back at least as far.

So it only took the FBI 8 years to conclude that maybe swapping notes with an organization with friendly relations to terrorists wasn’t such a good idea? We must repeat the great Oracle, Tommy the Commie Dasshole: “You can’t professionalize unless you federalize!”

CAIR’s executive director, Nihad Awad, attended a post-Sept. 11 meeting with then-FBI director Robert Mueller, and he met with other top brass as recently as 2006.

Ahhh… The Good Old Days. Remember those? The “islam is a religion of PEACE” days, not to mention the days of Dubya’s Great National Kiss the Floor of a Mosque Tour™.

But that was before Awad was shown to have participated in planning meetings with the Holy Land Foundation, five officials of which were convicted in December of funneling $12.4 million to Hamas.

Er… Oops?

Prosecutors identified CAIR’s chairman emeritus, Omar Ahmad, as an unindicted co-conspirator in that trial, and Special Agent Lara Burns testified that CAIR was a front group for radical organizations operating in the U.S.

Yes, we remember those days as well. For months, the news were filled with reports of CAIR’s ties to HLF and Hamas and how we’d been nursing a viper in our national bosom, followed by news reports of CAIR offices being shut down all over the nation while suspected terrorist supporters were frog-marched off the premises.

Except we don’t. What we do remember is the loud noise of crickets chirping.

“This is an unfortunate legacy of the Bush administration’s misguided and counterproductive efforts to marginalize mainstream American Muslim organizations,” CAIR’s national office said in a statement to FOXNews.com.

You might want to check your calendar, dumbfuck. Then, when you’re done, we have to express our sincere envy that you seem to have been able to utterly avoid any mention of January 20th and what happened on that day.

“It is not surprising that we would be singled out by those in the previous administration who sought to prevent us from defending the civil rights of American Muslims.”

That would be the same administration that had your people train its FBI agents and financed parts of your outreach funding for terrorists programs? Damn. Hey, Dubya, now that you’re free, would you mind swinging by our house and oppress us a bit? $20 bills, non-sequentially numbered, if you please.

Not defending B. Hussein O. here, but this has little to do with the Presidential Administration in charge. Crap like this has been going on for decades. Our Government is INFESTED with life-long bureaucrats, and they are ALL Leftists. This is true not just for agencies like the EPA, OSHA, FDA, FTC, or – worst of all – the State Dept.; it is also true (albeit maybe to a lesser degree) of FBI, CIA, NSA, and even the Pentagon.

This story reminded me of the story of the top expert on Islam and Jihad, Stephen Coughlin, fired by his supervisor in the DoD (and probable Islamist) Hesham Islam.

Below are two articles about it from a year ago.

Does anyone know the status of Coughlin, Islam, and Gordon England in the Obamessiah administration?

Pentagon fires key specialist on Islamic law and jihad after complaints by pro-Muslim officials
Infiltration Update. Here is a travesty for which Gordon England should be held accountable.

    “Coughlin Sacked”

by Bill Gertz in the Washington Times:

Stephen Coughlin, the Pentagon specialist on Islamic law and Islamist extremism, has been fired from his position on the military’s Joint Staff. The action followed a report in this space last week revealing opposition to his work for the military by pro-Muslim officials within the office of Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England.
Mr. Coughlin was notified this week that his contract with the Joint Staff will end in March, effectively halting the career of one of the U.S. government’s most important figures in analyzing the nature of extremism and ultimately preparing to wage ideological war against it.

He had run afoul of a key aide to Mr. England, Hasham Islam, who confronted Mr. Coughlin during a meeting several weeks ago when Mr. Islam sought to have Mr. Coughlin soften his views on Islamist extremism.

Mr. Coughlin was accused directly by Mr. Islam of being a Christian zealot or extremist “with a pen,” according to defense officials. Mr. Coughlin appears to have become one of the first casualties in the war of ideas with Islamism.

The officials said Mr. Coughlin was let go because he had become “too hot” or controversial within the Pentagon.

Misguided Pentagon officials, including Mr. Islam and Mr. England, have initiated an aggressive “outreach” program to U.S. Muslim groups that critics say is lending credibility to what has been identified as a budding support network for Islamist extremists, including front groups for the radical Muslim Brotherhood.

Mr. Coughlin wrote a memorandum several months ago based on documents made public in a federal trial in Dallas that revealed a covert plan by the Muslim Brotherhood, an Egyptian-origin Islamist extremist group, to subvert the United States using front groups. Members of one of the identified front groups, the Islamic Society of North America, has been hosted by Mr. England at the Pentagon.

After word of the confrontation between Mr. Coughlin and Mr. Islam was made public, support for Mr. Coughlin skyrocketed among those in and out of government who feared the worst, namely that pro-Muslim officials in the Pentagon were after Mr. Coughlin’s scalp, and that his departure would be a major setback for the Pentagon’s struggling efforts to develop a war of ideas against extremism. Blogs lit up with hundreds of postings, some suggesting that Mr. England’s office is “penetrated” by the enemy in the war on terrorism….

    And this from Jihad Watch

    Who is Hesham Islam?
In “Questions for the Pentagon: Who is Hesham Islam?” in National Review (thanks to all who sent this in), Claudia Rosett asks some pointed questions about the man who appears to be chiefly responsible for the firing of the Pentagon’s only Islamic law expert, Stephen Couglin.

    ——–
In the sorry tradition of shooting the messenger, the Pentagon is cashiering its top expert on Islamist doctrine, Stephen Coughlin. Some members of Congress are now contemplating hearings to ask why. Along with drawing attention to Coughlin’s research, now circulating on the Internet, the growing controversy has thrown a spotlight on Coughlin’s alleged nemesis at the Pentagon, a top aide named Hesham Islam — whose tale deserves closer attention. Not least, as a reporter for the Armed Forces Press Service observed last year, it would make a great Hollywood blockbuster. […]
Hesham Islam is a native Arabic speaker, a Muslim, born in 1959 in Cairo and schooled in Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. In 1980 he immigrated to the U.S. From 1985-2005 he served in the U.S. Navy, rising to the mid-level officer rank of commander. At some point after former defense-industry executive Gordon England joined the Bush administration as secretary of the Navy, in 2001, Islam went to work on his staff. In 2005, when England, after a stint in Homeland Security took over from Paul Wolfowitz in the Defense Department’s number two slot of deputy secretary, Islam came with him.

In England’s office, Islam’s official title is special assistant for international affairs. In that capacity he pops up as a man-about-town in Washington, making the rounds of embassies. But Islam also works as England’s point man for Pentagon outreach programs to Muslim groups. These include organizations such as the Islamic Society of North America, or ISNA, with whom Islam and England have forged ties — attending ISNA conventions, and hosting ISNA delegations at Pentagon events, and in England’s office.

That’s alarming to some, such as terrorism expert Steven Emerson, executive director of the Investigative Project on Terrorism, who, for more than a decade, has been tracking Islamic extremist networks in the U.S. In a recent appearance on Fox News, Emerson described Hesham Islam as, in his view, “an Islamist with a pro-Muslim Brotherhood bent who has brought in groups to the Pentagon who have been unindicted co-conspirators.”

Emerson was apparently referring to ISNA, named last summer by the Department of Justice as a member of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood and an unindicted co-conspirator in the case of the Holy Land Foundation, an Islamic charity indicted in 2005 in Dallas federal court for allegedly providing millions of dollars to the terrorist group Hamas (itself an outgrowth of the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood). ISNA, in a press statement, says it “remains unjustly branded by the government as an unindicted co-conspirator.” (The Holy Land Foundation case resulted in a mistrial last fall, and is expected to be re-tried).

But whatever Emerson’s worries, Islam’s boss, Gordon England, apparently can’t praise Hesham Islam and his work enough. In public statements over the past year, England has described Islam as “my personal close confidante,” “my interlocutor,” a man who “represents me to the international community,” and “assists me in my own outreach efforts.” Photos taken on the Washington’s diplomatic reception circuit show England and Islam side-by-side, chatting up contacts. Last October, England described Islam to a Pentagon in-house reporter as a man with “wonderful friendships and relationships” which allow Islam to “give me extraordinarily good advice in dealing with countries and people.” England added, “I take his advice, and I listen to him all the time.”

Read it all. There is a great deal of revealing and disquieting information in the balance of the article about Hesham Islam, and the Pentagon itself.

Well when I first read the story I figured I had a choice…. I could look at this as the typical bueracratic fuckup that we all know and love… or I could look at it as a possibly a matter of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer……. unfortunatly it is very difficult for me to give any political entity the benefit of the doubt… so Im going to with typical beuracratic nonsense. …. just fucking amazing….. and all the more supported by the story of removal of the “analyst” last year. If you ask me that Islam guy is a present and onging threat to the nation and needs to be eliminated.

I just amazes me… how many examples do we need to see time and time again to understand that there is no “working together” with Islam? That the only thing that Islam understands is force? That there will never be a peaceful co-existence because THEY will never allow for peaceful co-existence…. Apologists, justifiers, moderates…. just do NOT FUCKING GET IT. There religion is like a terminator…. it will NEVER stop, it will never have peace, and it will never treat its own adherents with anything approaching humanity. much less the “infidels”.

So where do we stand today….lets see

I heard that a politician in NY introduced a bill to modify the 22nd amendment…. any truth to that?

I understand that some politician has introduced another gun ban bill… whats the status of that?

I got a “stimulus” package that is full of bullshit giving money to “community organizers” yet the Military is being asked to reduce its budget by 10% in War time. (This is of course supposed to considered perfectly logical??)

Kentucky is a disaster zone.. the Governor has mobilized the entire National Guard.. has there been a federal response of any consequence?

I propose an IRS audit of every single member of the House & the Senate. And that any found to be not 100% compliant be removed from office.

No sooner were the new members of Congress sworn in than Mr. Rush, a former Black Panther leader, filed the bill. It has no cosponsors yet and was automatically referred to the House Judiciary Committee.

“If passed, it would require anyone wishing to purchase, own, or possess a ‘qualifying firearm’ — that’s any handgun, and any long gun that takes a detachable magazine — would have to be licensed by the state or the federal government in a licensing program managed by the Attorney General.

“To get a license you would have to prove you’re you, provide a passport-style photo, a thumbprint, and take a written exam which includes questions about firearms safety, safe storage, the risks of firearms ownership, and anything else the Attorney General deems appropriate. All transfers would be required to go through a licensed dealer with the exception of occasional gifts or bequests between parents, children over 18, and grandparents, or loans of not more than 30 days between ‘persons who are personally known to one another.’ All transfers would have to be recorded in a new ‘Transfer Record’ established and maintained by the Attorney General.”

While people continue to freeze to death, the Kentucky governor – who just happens to be a Democrat – says everything’s been just hunky-dory with the federal response. He is, however, contradicted by his own Emergency Management Director Randell Smith, who says FEMA is “a no show”.

Limbaugh warned his listeners Tuesday: “I’ll tell you what’s going on here: We, ladies & gentlemen, we’re funding Obama and the Democrats’ army on the street. We are funding the forces of the Democrat party’s re-election.”

The brownshirts are already organized and $5.2 BILLION is being smuggled to them in a STIMULUS BILL! What economy are they intending to stimulate? They need all this money to build the mosques that will host the bread lines. With the damage to the economy ensured, inciting a civil war in Mexico will drive millions of hard working immigrants north to bake the bread and reap the bennies.

Canada should start building a fence now!

My thoughts last week, and for that matter, this week, too. Take the money from the military and give it to the brownshirts. A civilian defense force as well funded as the military? Simple math to accomplish teh one’s stated agenda.
