Hallelujah Chorus Open Thread™

Well, it looks as if the rest of the Management™ types have taken an early Christmas vacation – so I guess it’s up to me to start this weekend’s Open Thread™.

Let’s begin with the Mormon Silent Monk Tabernacle Choir, shall we?

Enjoy.

Well, it probably can’t top the “Silent Monks”, but here’s Elvis and Martina McBride singing “Blue Christmas”.

She looks surprisingly mature for someone who would have been just two years old in 1968.

This has bearing on the future of the country in 2010 and 2012. At the very least, it means that Nelson has either changed his mind about running for re-election in 2012, or for some reason he no longer fears the consequences of any future elections. Last week there was a poll in Nebraska that showed that something along the order of 62% of Nebraskans would be less likely to vote for him for re-election if he rolled over to support the nationalization of healthcare [my description- the actual poll used more politically correct terms]. In addition, he has won elections in what is a pretty red state, largely by being pro-life. He took his previous public stand in large part on a basis of being pro-life. No matter what shuck and jive is in the bill [which like the rest of the Socialist-Democrats’ legislation this year is going to be rubber stamped by them in Congress before it is completely written and before anyone has read it], you know that it means government funded and promoted abortions. It is a betrayal of the sort that pro-life people are used to from politicians [especially Democrats who claim to be “moderate”. There is no such thing in reality. In the end, they will line up and commit any foul deed demanded by the Party central committee.], but it also means he has lost their support.

He sold his soul, as noted, and committed political suicide. At least if there are electoral politics in our future. Politicians are experts at hedging their bets, and only siding with the winners. They do not take public stands that might be unpopular, precisely because they fear elections. Looking at the Democrats, they are rushing with lemming-like intensity to jump off of another of Obama’s precipices. There is a reason that the book Profiles in Courage concentrated on the 1700’s and 1800’s. Because courage and convictions have been largely absent from the political stage for over a century. And when politicians do take a stand, they do not do so individually, the way that the subjects of the book do. They cover their asses first, move as a herd hoping to hide in the middle when they start drawing fire, and proclaim group-think as courage.

Once we discount courage and principle from the equation, we are left with the only remaining conjecture; that the entire Democratic Party believes they no longer have reason to fear elections. They already do not fear anything less that comes from the citizens of this country. It may be that they know something we don’t about a future executive branch decree. Or it may be that they know that the final vote tabulations for 2010 and 2012 are already stored away in various secure computers for release at the appropriate time. [ Obama screwed the pooch in Honduras, but he may have learned a trick or two from Zelaya.] I may decide to cross post something I wrote elsewhere on the subject; but I think I had better clear it with His Majesty first, this being his house.

I mentioned the concept of political courage above. It is absent from our Nomenklatura of either party. But it is also missing from the majority of the American people, who long to be forelock tugging serfs. If we were the men and women that our forebears were; no Democrat could appear anywhere outside the District of Columbia, save at risk of tar and feathers, or worse.

We know that the passage of this means death for a lot of Americans. The medical provisions are deliberately being postponed for several years, while the taxes will be collected immediately. Of course, those taxes, supposedly reserved for future health care, will be spent as soon as they come in, in the name of the ‘unforeseen’ fiscal disaster that is upon us. And more taxes will be imposed as the medical provisions kick in. Once they do so, if there are any businesses left in operation to offer insurance, that insurance will vanish. We have seen the care that Caveman and Mary have gotten [keep praying to your Diety of choice, as this is a critical time] that would not be there under nationalized healthcare. In my family, I have twice seen family members pulled back from the brink of death by modern, private medical care. In the case of a brother; all he had was VA disability [a little thing called Ranch Hand]. He ended up in the newest and best private hospital in Colorado. After a week in ICU, they [ e-e-evil, greedy private hospital that they were (/sarc off)] quickly and easily agreed to accept the minimal VA reimbursement as payment in full. In the case of a daughter, same hospital by chance, it was necrotizing fasciitis. They saved her life, her foot, and after a series of operations she is learning to walk again. All paid for without demur by her ‘greedy’ private insurance company. She has also seen, while studying in Britain, people murdered in a NHS hospital to save money.

I have a nephew, who I had a small hand in raising, of whom I am quite proud. He is a Marine Gunnery SGT. He and his family came home to Colorado for our Clan Thanksgiving gathering, en-route to a transfer overseas [not to the Sandbox this time, he has had a number of those already]. We talked about a lot of things. What to read. His old unit is going to be part of Obama’s “too small and too late to do anything but incur casualties” surge. Marines, especially NCO’s are actually better read on war and politics than the public can conceive. According to him, the Marines in his old unit are reading Xenophon’s Anabasis. I recommended that they read about the Brit’s First Afghan War, and he will be passing the word back to his old unit. We talked about what is happening with healthcare, and he knows that the cousin he grew up with who sat at the same long table for dinner, would not be alive under government health care. And we talked about politicians, their normal reactions, and how they are acting now. And how we are depending on our Oathkeepers; especially if the ballot box is taken away from us.

Maybe it is time that we start having more long talks with the Oathkeepers in our families. For we may be depending on how well they learned the values we taught to them as they grew up, very, very soon.

The job of every conserative now must be to keep this in the public’s mind. Red state Dems want the public to forget this before election season, their greatest weapon is a ignorant public. For the next year our mission will be to make people remember. If we fail, if we do not take back control, all is lost. I do not intend to fail.

With the wholesale payoff to recalcitrant senators and the threat from the white house about “keeping score” made to Oregon Rep De Fazio, I’m beginning to believe the fix is in. The traitors who call themselves representatives of the people are acting in a manner that’s fearless and arrogant and downright un-American. They obviously don’t fear the results of an election in 2010…..they seemingly have no fear of we the people….they sneer at the opposition party……So, given their self elevation to the status of rulers the question that remains is, what do “we the people” do now?

Well, the first answer to come to mind is “revolt”. It is a simple answer, and one that has been advocated countless times lately. But are you….the advocates of revolution….. truly, TRULY prepared to do what it takes to carry that out? I’m not talking about stocking up on food and medicine and ammo, for I believe that any truly prepared individual should do that. I’m talking about being completely willing to relocate and rally with fellow revolutionaries, to give up home and job to do what is necessary to take this country back, to serve the jail time or worse that will come with your arrest/capture, to willingly resist our better armed law enforcement officers or maybe sections of our military when they come up the road to confront you, and to accept the knowledge that your actions will most likely make your family a target for action by the ruling class……..can you accept those likely scenarios in the name of armed revolution?

those things aren’t stated to discourage anyone, hell….I’m as mad as any of you….those statements are only meant to make you think out of the box a little. We must be realistic about how we go about this thing called revolution. The next revolution cannot be fought with volleys of fire like at Lexington Green or Fredericksburg, for that would be a fight that we would surely lose…..the next revolution must be fought at the polling stations and on the airwaves and cyberspace and in the schools. This revolution will be a war fought to deliver the message, fought to restore truth and integrity to our government, fought to restore faith and belief in God and in this blessed nation called America. A suggested strategy could be something like this:

1…..get active in the election process, volunteer at a polling station or to deliver ballots to election offices or to keep a watchful eye at those places. We must own this process and take it out of the hands of acorn and the other sides fixers and corrupters.
2…..be the messenger, post flyers on power poles and grocery store message boards and in mailboxes……make them factual, quote sources, list local politicians office addresses and phone numbers on them .
3…..be a regular caller or emailer or show’er upper at your local politicians office, encourage your friends and others to do the same. Let them know that they are being closely watched.
4…..get active in the political process, run for local office….be a precinct officer….work for candidates that are on our side.
5…..be a presence in the schools, you don’t need an education degree to teach school….I don’t have one and I’ve taught in public high schools for 6 years now. You can volunteer as a teaching assistant, or librarian….you can run for your local school board, or you can serve on advisory committees at the district level. You can counteract the leftist propaganda this way, and have say in what our kids learn….
6…..get in the marxist/leftist’s faces….counter protest and stand up to their union thugs and their bullying tactics, we cannot afford to be nice guys anymore.

That should be how we fight the new revolution, it should be our first set of tactics….for as much as I would like to think that I could be the next Richard Rogers, leading a group of Rangers through the woods behind enemy lines, I must remember that….although I’m a decent shot and in passable shape……my knees are shit, I’m 55 years old, and my woodsman’s survival skills have faded since my old deer hunting days. I, for one, have to find other ways to fight the revolution…..for the power mad rulers of my beloved country have me outgunned, outnumbered, and out financed. But what they don’t have is my love and awe of this nation and it’s history, nor do they have the profound respect I have of the ultimate sacrifice given by so many in defense of the foundational freedoms of this country, and they most certainly don’t possess my eternal gratitude for what this country has given me just for being born here……

Those are the things that I will fight for. Many many thousands of my fellow Americans are buried at places like Gettysburg and Arromanche and Arlington and Belleau Wood and countless other locations, and they didn’t die for a government or a political party or a candidate or any kind of a social mandate, they died for a legacy and a God given set of liberties that our present rulers can’t comprehend and don’t care about because they have a void where their souls used to reside and have filled it with power and self righteousness. They have forgotten what it is to be an American and what it is that they owe to those that have died for their right to live free in this great nation.

I think the time has come to give them a reminder
