Anything for a Photo-Op

ObamaPogue

Where’s your damn cover, pogue?

We suppose we should be pleased that Prince Pussypants finally at least pretended to give a shit about the servicemen and -women who are still waiting for him to get off the golf course for long enough to decide whether he wants to shit or get off the pot regarding the situation in Ashcanistan.

So, in that spirit, we’ll pretend to be pleased.

Now get that damn hand back in your pocket where it belongs. Then write a hundred times “I will not salute without a cover.”

Who cares if President M.T. Suit was taught by someone how to render a salute? The simple fact this moment was captured on film for a campaign tour is the REAL reason for his appearance. The clueless puppet has been playing with himself while Marines and soldiers are dying and then has the audacity to show up and salute the fallen is nothing more than simple, arrogance and chutzpa.

This clueless megalomaniac is trying for a Reaganesque image and the best he can do is insult the men and women who serve this country in ways M.T. Suit (and his Merry Marxist Marching Society Masters) could never hope in his wildest wet dream to achieve (if he ever chose to contemplate actually SERVING).

Good point, Brendan. I am not certain, but I don’t think Bush should have saluted in civvies. However, Bush was former military, having served in the Texas Air National Guard. Contrary to the totally fictitious propaganda provided by such outstanding “journalists” of the State Controlled Media, Bush volunteered for duty in Vietnam. The walking puddle of dog vomit it the above photograph has never served, and never will serve. (Before any trolling libs chime in, he is not serving the country even now, but serving himself while trying to destroy everything that made this country great.) So, W is more entitled to render a salute to our service men and women than the Mulatto Marxist ever will be.

Obongo does not have the right to salute whoever is in this casket. George Bush served in the uniform of his country and earned the right to salute the fallen even when not in uniform as have many of us. This is a deep insult to me personally and the fact that Obongo does not even realize it makes it all the more insulting.

  14. 14
    LC PrimEviL says:

Civilians should not salute military personnel. Military protocols require a salute to
be returned. However, a civilian, of any office does not warrant a salute, period. I don’t remember
offhand which prexy started this nonsense, but it needs to stop.

Obongo would have come off more believable with hands clasped in front, and head bowed in somber,
humble reverence. His handlers are as clueless as he is.

  15. 15

I really don’t think this is a big deal, not worth the bandwidth in my book.

My only concern is whether he really understands why he is there saluting those fallen heroes at Dover.

    that’s my concern

According to Liz Cheney, Bush had many visits to this ceremony during his tenure. He just did it without calling in for a photo-op.

I just mention this because DJ lied in his post above about Bush (yet again).

  17. 17

    DJ,
I did not make my point clear enough. Yes Obongo may as the President salute a fallen soldier but he has not “earned” the right to do so. It is Military Protocol that current serving members of the Military and Veterans may salute at such ceremonies whether they are covered or not. The last two Military Ceremonies I have been to the Honor Guard requested the veterans and Military in the crowd to salute and the civilians to place their hands over their hearts.

Now wait a minute here….. Is Obama delaying because he’s changing his policy (the one he used as a parameter for McCrystal’s assesment) or is he delaying because he has to “sell” this to his “voters”. And Im supposed to buy this shit about a candidate that swore up and down that the war in Iraq was lost and the surge wouldnt work? And Im supposed to buy that its a given that he will authorize the requested troop levels? What the fuck have you been smokin cause I want some!

He took that photo to buy some room from his completely negligent handling of the Generals request. He’s being cautious,.. yeah like Carter was “cautious” with the Iranian Hostage debacle. I call it indecisive. Action shows respect and concern, just make a move and announce it. I dont support running away from Asscrackistan we are there, but if Obama isnt going to equip the Warriors with the manpower to operate effectively, then at least have enough ass to to MAKE A FUCKING DECISION

This is a blatant photo opportunity to cash in on a Reaganesque image that M.T. Suit couldn’t manage without T.O.T.U.S., the slavish media (including certain Web Weasels) and the ever-ready White House photographers.

Deej, your amour proper claimed Afghanistan was the Right War. If so, why has he dithered with 7 plus meetings with his smarter than all of us nomenklatura in deciding to either approve or disapprove GEN McCrystal’s reasonable request? If the general, who has more credibility in his left little toe than M.T. Suit has in his entire body, is to achieve the desired goal of winning, more troops are necessary. If the incompetent Presidential Puppet of the United States (P.P.O.T.U.S) or his Masters doesn’t want a win say so, put the brakes on and pull out a’la Vietnam.

  21. 21
    SeniorD says:

    Deej,

    Deal with it.

As for what you call ‘hate’, sorry, but there are others who express themselves far more bluntly than I. Barack Hussein Obama is, in my personal opinion, nothing more than a Maoist wanna-be (his enabler Bill Ayers is well known to follow the same line) while his megalomania knows no limits. He has done nothing but take credit for work others have done; signed into law spending bills that won’t be paid off until my great-grandchildren are dust; had the Federal Government take control of not one but two private companies to the detriment of principal stock holders. His administration, as documented by Michelle Malkin, is wholly corrupt and inept. His supposed auto-biography, ‘Dreams from my Father’ reaks of ghost writing by Bill Ayers (see Jack Cashill). Finally, what man can say with a straight face he never knew the sort of vile spew that came during 20 years listening to Jeremiah Wright? We’ve never seen ANY of his writings even though he was Editor of the Harvard Law Review and a collegiate instructor on Constitutional Law. The number of his mis-pronouncements, gaffes and factless statements are legion yet we are supposed to adhere to the Media/Party line Obama is a great intellect.

I believe it was Ronald Reagan who had to ask if he could return a salute. I believe he was the first President to do. When Obama does so, never having served in uniform nor even holding his hand to his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance, he dishonors the rite and, in the picture, dishonors the fallen warrior and the soldiers bearing his coffin.

As Commander-in-Chief of the United States Armed Forces, Barack Hussien Obama has a right to render a salute, not just return one (there’s a HUGE difference). He should have done so, out of view of the camera and without the sturm und drang associated with flying to Dover AFB on Air Force One while on a campaign trip.

As for ‘Party Line’ – there is credible research and evidence building against this poseur and his cabal.

I don’t think Cheney has the capacity for caring, but I do think that Bush did care.

    See below.

Maybe we want to start thinking about this, because the last administration apparently didn’t think about it at all. The extent of their “thinking” was to go in, drop some big bombs and that’ll do it. Except nobody knew a thing about the history of Afghanistan.

I suspect they knew more about it than you do about Big-Time Dick! Remember the Northern Alliance & those Special Forces guys on horseback? That was, I admit, the easy part. (I’ll also admit I’ve been interested in Ashcanistan since before the Soviets went in.) The country’s been disorganized for long enough that any improvement would be–well–an improvement. The nice part is that we don’t want the place. Empire? Ha!

Remember, Obama was voted in by a sizable majority to END the military actions in that
    region.

    52 or 53%? Wow, what a landslide! :em93:

As far as Liz Cheney’s father, most people have the impression he has no soul or compassion.

That could be because they’ve been relying on the alphabet news, particularly those special correspondents Lame-o, O’Boring, & Letterbomb LitterbagLeftyman. Shorthand: Bush = dumb, Cheney = mean. That’s their story & they’re stickin’ to it! Nuance is not the late-night idiots’ strong suit–but hey, they had so much fun with their moronic formula, a grateful world can still revel as they daringly skewer the ex-president & his evil puppet master (no, not $oro$)…

    SeniorD:

I believe it was Ronald Reagan who had to ask if he could return a salute. I believe he was the first President to do.

I believe you are correct. Of course he & his successors maintained the JFKanian protocol of not allowing the Prez to wear headgear most of the time. When if I become POTUS, I shall return salutes covered–Feldmarschall-style, with one of my props big sticks. I also plan to dispense with the JFKanian institution of the snooze conference…

Well, it might make an interesting novel.

Anyhow, my own feeling on DGN’s photo op is that it’s actually the best thing he’s done since coming to power (which may not be saying much) & suggests he at least has the guts to face a few casualties–so, yeah, what Misha said. FWIW there’s speculation he’s waiting for next week’s election to pass before announcing that decision: Political considerations, you know.

4 USC 1 §9. Conduct during hoisting, lowering or passing of flag

During the ceremony of hoisting or lowering the flag or when the flag is passing in a parade or in review, all persons present in uniform should render the military salute. Members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in uniform may render the military salute. All other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, or if applicable, remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Citizens of other countries present should stand at attention. All such conduct toward the flag in a moving column should be rendered at the moment the flag passes.

If he had gone and paid his respects to one of our Heroes, that would have been one thing. But he had to make a photo-op “HEY, LOOK AT ME BEING IMPORTANT!!!” thing out of it and that is what pisses my Been Nowhere, Done Nothing, Never Been Shot At In Combat National Guard MP Ass Off.

He’s not deserving of saluting one of my turds in the shitter, much less a Fallen Warrior.

  27. 27
    LC TerribleTroy, Imperial Centurion says:

I considered parsing DJ’s rant….. it would take waaaay to long, thats how off the mark…

For instance…. the ghost written book… not so much that it was ghost written (after all WHO doesnt use a ghost writer? cept maybe the guy that swears its all his writing) but a matter of WHO the ghost writer was. And the forensic guys are having a fucking field day with that one…..check it out.

Bama and Asscrackistan….. Now Bama says this is “the right war” … ok, so if he’s so sure this is the right war, and this is HIS General (the one he selected) it would stand to reason that the Generals extimates are based upon the stated objectives….. BTW what were Bama stated objectives? Where is his “plan”? When was it quantified and by who? Cause I havent seen nor heard of a stated goal other than “win.” So whats the deal? The General goes out with a set of objectives, arrives on station and assess’s the situation, realizes troop strength cant support the objective, says “I need more troops”. And gets what? Delayed cause Bama wants to “re-assess” the goals? And why does h want to re-assess? Cause he will piss off his base if he sends enough troops to accomplish the OBJECTIVES that he should have set before dispatching the General. That was the whole point in changing Generals right? To ensure that his policy and objectives were accomplished…. right? Where’s the logic? This is exactly where Carter went from bad to worse. You see contrary to the “Bush War” doctrine of securing Kabul we have more troops in the hinterlands based on Bama’s policy.

Bottom line … he is more worried about the Health Care fiasco (in which the writing has been on the wall for weeks) and has neglected this decision to the detriment of the troops.

And if you dont think it takes a set of rocks to complete fighter pilot training…. you have no appreciation for the complexity of the task nor the inherent risk involved. And, based on that, I dont see where Bama has done anything even remotely close when it comes to risking life and limb in service to the Nation.

A few observations before I scurry off to toil for “The Man”:

That debacle has already cost us over three trillion dollars to date and very little to show for it.

The same could be said about Obama’s budget…. :em01:

Like it or not, it isn’t a popular war any longer. We aren’t getting anywhere, and it doesn’t look like we are likely to get anywhere even if we pump the region with a half million troops.

    Talk about deja vu.

I seem to recall the democrats saying something like that right before “the surge” in Iraq….

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter one whit what Obama did. There is no way in hell any of you are going to approve of anything he does. If he had stood there with his hands folded in front of him, you would have accused him of not showing proper demeanor. If he had his hand over his heart, it would have been something else. If he had never gone, you would have accused him of being indifferent. If he listened to the Generals and sent every last troop requested, you would have accused him of something else. It just doesn’t matter, and I think that Obama finally gets it: He doesn’t need to worry about those of you that hate him regardless of what he says or does.

    Wow.

That sums up the democrat’s eight year stance towards “Dubya” in one paragraph.

    With one important difference.

Obama doesn’t “get it” and he is “worried”.

His ongoing and very public jihads against FOX News and conservative talk radio are a prime example of this.

By the way, I just noticed this.

DJ hasn’t screamed “RACIST” once on this thread.

Either he finally “gets it” or we’re not trying hard enough… :em99:
