Child Rapist Arrested, Liberals, ACORN Hardest Hit

(H/t Patterico)

ZURICH – Director Roman Polanski was arrested by Swiss police as he flew in for the Zurich Film Festival and faces possible extradition to the United States for having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977, authorities said Sunday.

Polanski was scheduled to receive an honorary award at the festival when he was apprehended Saturday at the airport, the Swiss Justice Ministry said in a statement. It said U.S. authorities have sought the arrest of the 76-year-old director around the world since 2005.

And finally we found a country (NOT France) where raping children wasn’t an acceptable way of spending your time.

His victim, Samantha Geimer, who long ago identified herself publicly, has joined in Polanski’s bid for dismissal, saying she wants the case to be over. She sued Polanski and reached an undisclosed settlement.

Oh, so she received an “undisclosed” amount of money for his child rape and she’s decided that that’s enough punishment? OK. She’s a prostitute as well as a victim now. How charming. Unfortunately for pedophiles, having sex with 13-year-olds is still a crime even if you pay the victim to shut up later.

It’s called “The Law.” Look it up.

If it weren’t for the law, you could rape your way through the entire cast of High School Musical if you had enough money without punishment. Which, considering that Democrats have more millionaires in Congress then the other party does, would probably be a desirable outcome as far as they’re concerned.

UPDATE: LC Cricket points out in the comments that it’s more likely because his victim is tired after 30 years of being denied justice. Fair point. The way it was worded in the article made it look, to me, as if she wanted it over because she’d already received a chunk of cash. Which isn’t her fault, it’s the fault of the journalist (and my way of reading it). Fair point. I retract and apologize. But the fact that his victim has had enough doesn’t exonerate the swine. The law isn’t supposed to look at that and, hopefully, it won’t.

Frederic Mitterand, “culture” minister of the country in which Polanski has been successfully hiding out for 30 years, presumably because the fwench find it perfectly reasonable to rape children, plays the victim card for the perpetrator:

Mitterrand added that he was “dumbfounded” by Polanski’s arrest, adding that he “strongly regrets that a new ordeal is being inflicted on someone who has already experienced so many of them.”

Those comments referred, in part, to the fact that Polanski, a native of France who was taken to Poland by his parents, escaped Krakow’s Jewish ghetto as a child during World War II and lived off the charity of strangers. His mother died at the Nazis’ Auschwitz death camp.

Ahhh… So in the view of the fwench, who were among the most enthusiastic collaborators when it came to handing over Jooos to the Nazis, if somebody you knew suffered enough as a result of their own policies, you automatically qualify for a “get out of jail free” card even if you rape your way through an entire middle school.

Fwance has issues, that’s for sure.

Of course, this whole extradition thing is going to come to naught. Our Beloved Führer, All Are Equal In His Sight, Mmmm mmm mmm, wouldn’t ever allow prosecution of child rapists, especially considering that the ACORN he sprung from are big fans of child prostitution.

Restitution and restoration are two different things. Polanski can’t restore her innocence; she has been fighting this for over 30 years. All the money does is show an amount of justice that is tendered. She is not a prostitute; she is tired. Huge difference there, sire.

Say wasn’t there a fella 1400 years ago, who started a religion cult, and married a six year old, but was understanding and kind enough to not consummate same until she was nine? Maybe Polanski was just following his lead? (And why do I think the Fwench would give ol’ Moe-hommed a pass too.)

Have you seen Patterico’s latest post on the Polanski affair?

Seems that among the many liberals defending Roman Polanski is the Washington Post’s own Anne Appelbaum. Who just happens to have a personal conflict of interest in the matter: she’s married to the current Foreign Minister of Poland, Radislaw Sikorski, who is currently lobbying the US to drop the case against Polanski.

As Patterico points out, it’s well known that he works for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, which has been pursuing Polanski for thirty years. It’s not common knowledge, however, that Applebaum is married to someone who is so intimately involved with the campaign to exonerate Polanski…and she has made no effort to inform her audience of the fact.

Oh, she’s owed the money alright, ten times over. The comment was based on her saying that the case against him should be dropped.

Yes, she got money from him, but that doesn’t make his disgusting deed a “non crime” in the eyes of justice, nor are his dues paid. And if she thinks so, then she’s a prostitute.

Later update: Ahh… I see your point now, Cricket. Yes, I understand. 30 years is a long time, but this isn’t all about her. But yes, I do understand.

If I am reading things correctly, he left the country before completing his prison term. He had been allowed to stay out of prison to finish up a film project and then fled to the UK and later France. Statute of limitations only apply to how long you have to file charges and he had already been convicted.

This sexual deviant will likely plead out (e.g., “Your Honor, for 30 years I have not been back to my country! Haven’t I spent enough time in punishment?”) If nothing else, President Empty-Suit Puppet will accept a large ‘Campaign Donation’ from Holyweird and Polanski’s world will be right.

Until the girl’s male family members find him.

    AyUaxe says:

Statutes of limitation are “tolled” that is they don’t run out while a perp is evading capture. It may be arguable whether openly setting up housekeeping in a foreign country from which extradition is at least theoretically possible is technically “flight.” We can be assured that will be litigated.

Sinon, the age of consent is, remarkably, pretty much the same in every state–13 is right out in all 50. 15-18, an age differential of more than 2 years usually defines whether it’s a case of rampant hormones or a felony. Force, coercion, or intoxication are always at least forcible rape, regardless of age. Your comment is regional xenophobia and ignorance at work. You may be thinking of the age at which a person can marry with parental consent–yes, that may still be as low as 13 in some states, but that is a very different matter and usually involves some judicial oversight. The root of such laws is that in agrarian cultures, kids get adult responsibilities earlier, so accommodations are made (13 yr. olds can get “farm” drivers’ licenses, too). A couple of crazy country kids in love and getting married with parental approval isn’t the same as a middle-aged lech liquoring up a 6th grader.

The sad fact is that the leftist moonbats of the present administration and most state and local governments along our east and west coasts are OK with child sex, as long as the perp is one of their artsy or political “idols.” Just look at the common thread of the ACORN hidden vids–child prostitutes–sure not prob. Justice “I heart Sodomy” Kennedy, just about a year ago, wrote another one of his rainbow, watercolored, extra-soft, creamy, and astro-glide prepped opinions decreeing that the death penalty, even for real, violent monstrous child rapists, was “cruel and unusual punishment,” inconsistent with modern notions of appropriateness–never mind the fact that whole bunches of states’ legislatures and their citizenries completely disagree. I suggest that the only rape that is not properly punishable by death is that performed, sans astro-glide, on Kennedy and the justices who joined in his idiotic, child sacrificing opinion.

Polanski’s case has the nasty Hollywood tinge of an underage girl’s parents playing along and even encouraging an unlawful and immoral sexual liaison with one of their “idols,” perhaps in hopes that the girl would gain notoriety or a position that could be exploited. I’m sure they deny it, declaiming that they thought the relationship was innocent–maybe they did, but there was something less than savory there. It’s not unreasonable to suspect that the suit followed, when blackmail or the “she should be in pitchers–she’s Roman Polanski’s Lolita” pitch didn’t work.

So, yeah, maybe the parents should be prosecuted, too, but haven’t been and won’t be and Polanski should get his last shot or life, but won’t, and another child will fall into the abyss that is Hollyweird-librul culture. A side note surprisingly not mentioned as one of Polanski’s past tragedies, indeed the event that truly “broke” him, is the murder of his wife, Sharon Tate (and their nearly-term unborn son), by the Manson family. What is inexplicable is how one who has been so traumatized as Polanski was by Tate’s murder could dishonor her, all women and children by engaging in child rape.

One thing that has been overlooked in the comments here:

What Polanski did to that poor girl would have been the crime of forcible rape even if she’d been in her mid-30s. He got her liquored up, and she STILL resisted until he overpowered her.

Roman, dude, I’m sorry about your wife, and your family in the camps. No question, that sucks. But how in the HELL is that a free pass for Rape?

Thank God I live here in Ol’ Virginny. Here in the Old Dominion first-degree Rape still carries a Life sentence.

Also – there is NO need for Obama and Holder to get involved in this one. There’s no political up-side to pardoning him, and as far as the extradition goes, it’s the local Jurisdiction that will be dealing with the Swiss, not the Feds. He should take a lesson from Bill and just talk out of both sides of his mouth, depending upon which group he’s addressing – seeing five sides of a two-sided issue. But DAMN, would I love to see what would happen politically if he pardoned the perv!!!!!

…and prosecuting the Legendary Director Roman Polanski (it seems “Legendary Director” is part of Polanski’s name, judging from the media coverage) would outrage the very lefties in Hollywood and the elite media that helped get Obama elected. Just go over to and keep scrolling for all sorts of outrage in the media and “arts” community over the persecution prosecution of Polanski.

Others have lightly touched on this, but it needs to be stated in the clear: The Pussy in Chief has absolutely no legal standing to do so. He can commute federal sentences, and issue pardons setting aside federal convictions, but Scuzzbucket the Famous Director was convicted in a state proceeding.

Even if Komrade Zero tried to do it, it doesn’t take a big leap of logic to see that a Supreme Court which once voted 7-2 in Bush v. Gore would smack President Empty Suit back in line by at least 6-3. Once again, it’s that pesky 10th Amendment getting in the way of the Regressives’ wet dreams.

This is not the first time that Fwance has kept an American felon from his date with a prison cell. Ira Einhorn, AKA the Unicorn Killer, was a 60’s radical who co-founded Earth Day. In 1977 Einhorn murdered his girl friend and fled to Fwance to avoid prosecution. He was finally discovered in 1997 and the Fwench government resisted his extradiction for four years.

Interestingly enough, Sen. Arlen Spector has connections to this sadistic killer:

By 1979 Arlen Specter was in private practice with a prestigious Philadelphia law firm. A streak of failed runs for various public offices was about to end with his being elected U.S. Senator. In the interim, Specter was defending Ira Einhorn, prominent peace activist and New Age guru. In 1977, Einhorn had bludgeoned his girlfriend Holly Maddux to death and hid her body in a trunk in his closet.

[…]Barbara Bronfman of the Seagram distillery family posted the bail won by defense attorney Arlen Specter. Specter lauded Einhorn as a man of peace and honor, for whom violence or bail jumping was unthinkable. Getting bail was an amazing feat in a murder case where the body was found in the defendant’s home. More amazing was the amount– $40,000. Which translated into $4000 cash.

If bullshit was rocket fuel Specter could fly his ass to Fwance and back at Mach 10.

… And, incidentally, Charlie Chaplin as well. At least, if I remember correctly, Nabokov have never done anything like that in real life.

Pleading guilty to unlawful sex with an underage girl — the drugging, raping and sodomizing of a 13 year-old — isn’t stopping Hollywood from ginning up an indignation campaign over the possibility of fugitive director Roman Polanski being held accountable for his crimes. Yes, these are the values of those who control the most powerful propaganda device ever created. Which begs a question: If his unspeakable deed doesn’t meet the standard, what exactly would Roman Polanski have to do in order to become a pariah in this town … I mean, besides vote for Sarah Palin?
