…and it’s in Wisconsin (h/t Imperial Linkmaster General Ian S.).

Where else in this Union can you find a road sign with four words, three of which are spelled wrong?

Having read the article I would have to say that shows the issue with education in WI. When the order went in for the sign no one caught it, when the sign was being made no one noticed, when the sign was being erected no one noticed……wonder how long it was up before someone did notice.

FYI….WI teacher’s union is the strongest teacher union in the US. Yep that is showing how well the education system works here.

That price is just for the ONE residence, Dave. He has to rent at least three. And, yeah, it bothers me a WHOLE lot. He condescends to US about how we have to live, what we can drive, what we can eat, how hot (or not) we can keep our thermostats. HE’S A HYPOCRITE. How many people are out of work, and he spends 50k on a house for a WEEK??? He’s too good for Camp David?

How many people could that 50K feed?
And Bush didn’t have a “fake” ranch. It was real, and it was “green,” not this faux green that algore tries to cram down our throats.

For all of Jimmy Carter’s faults (and there were many), as I recall, during the oil crisis of the 70’s, he didn’t “do as I say, not as I do.” He had his thermostat turned down, and he wore sweaters.

Frat boy has the Oval Office temp at 80 while he plans to bankrupt the energy industry.

Not to veer back on topic or anything, but “Exit” is only spelled correctly because it’s on another sign.

Typically, state prisons make road and highway signs — along with the license plates. Heck, in many states, it is inmates that process your titles and licenses. (gives you that warm and cuddly feeling knowing that, doesn’t it?)

    TRANSLATION: Blame Bush.

Some credit collection companies contract with the state and the Feds for inmates to use credit reports to make debt collection phone calls. (still got that warm feeling?)

    TRANSLATION: Blame Bush.

Lemme get this straight. It is alright if OTHER presidents take a week’s vacation somewhere, but it isn’t alright for the Obamas?

The thing is, the “OTHER presidents” weren’t honking and squeaking about the country being in “the worst economic crisis since the great depression” and we all need to “make sacrifices”.

Now I know how much it bothers you for me to bring up Bush again, but, you seem to lack a certain amount of perspective. I could use any previous president if you want me to, yet I don’t feel like it. Bush makes great examples. (kinda like an illustrated coloring book.)

I have to give The Chosen One™ credit for one thing, he’s giving “Dubya” a run for his money in the ” great examples. (kinda like an illustrated coloring book.)” department.

So here goes: Bush spent MORE time on vacation than any other previous president. Sure, he spent it at his own fake “ranch”, but it STILL cost us a fortune each time he did it. Where was your “outrage” then? The reality is, nobody really gave a shit. But apparently you seem to suddenly care now.

On the other hand, where is your outrage now? You seem quite irritated at Bush’s vacation habits yet The Chosen One™ gets a pass? (Especially since were in the midst of “the worst economic crisis since the great depression”.)

So this is a big deal for you? Really? Wow.

    To me, not really.

Though it is fun to watch you wield the “Bush legacy” like some kind of shield/talisman against any criticism of The Chosen One

    Back on topic:

Those road signs are just another example of “gub’mint efficiency”.

Sure gives you confidence in the upcoming “state-run healthcare”, doesn’t it?

Everyone knows that correcting the employee’s spelling errors might cause loss of self esteem and hurt feewings in said employee, and that is not allowed any more. We’re all the same, you see. DJ, as far as presidential vacations go… Look, these guys (our dear gubmint), more and more, begin to remind me of the Soviet Politburo. I believe they are grossly overpaid. I don’t care if the name is Bush, Clinton, Obama, Brezhnev or whatever. They produce NOTHING. They contribute NOTHING. Yet, in some bizarre fit of masochism, we, every year, pay these fuckers to treat us like plebes, violate our privacy and destroy our livelihood. To do these things, they get paid more than any of us can earn doing actual, honest work. Why? I, personally, do not need these motherfuckers. They do nothing for me. The only government bodies I benefit from are the military, the police and the courts. I am all cool about paying them every year to do what they do, IF they do it right.
Gubmint bureaucrats, on the other hand, the ass-sitters, the figureheads, presidents included, need to be paid minimum wage (if at all), and get bonuses only if they excel at leaving our liberty the fuck alone and letting us prosper at our own damn expense. Politics should be a hobby, not a gott-damn full-time occupation. I do not hold any anger against a capitalist, because he EARNED his money. I do hold a lot of anger against a government tick, because every damn penny of what he has is fucking STOLEN AT THE POINT OF A GUN. There is no fucking reason in the world some shitbag politician should be buying $10,000 tits for his mistress, and flying around in a jet, while I, a competent soldier, engineer, have to struggle to pay for a measly Jeep, because this politician taxed me AND my civilian employer so fucking much, AND voted a raise for himself, that I barely see any of my money.

DJ, here is an easy health care plan.

    1. have insurance for catastrophic illnesses – that way when bad things happen people are not wiped out
    2. pay cash for everything else. – this way the costs are lower because your primary care physician will not have to fill out paperwork and pay for extra staff to stay in compliance with all the rules both insurance and gov. also it will eliminate the government being in the health care business which has artificially inflated health care costs.

Simple, constitutional, and the best solution for everyone.

DJ the government has never made anything better. We institute governments to do certain jobs to promote society (roads, water, fire protection, police, and basic mail) anything else for profit companies can do better. In the USA the majority of hospitals before ww2 were charitable institutions. what changed it to a for profit system? Government through regulation of income, they said you cant pay your workers more because they are a scarce commodity, so give them health care benefits. It created an artificial profit incentive which was increased with the medi-cade medi-care system from the “war on poverty”.

The government screws up more than it fixes.

    Regarding Clinton, impeachment, etc.

I used to believe that when the democrats once again held the White House they would feel less need to defend Clinton. It’s kind of like when the Red Sox finally won a World Series, the fans weren’t so defensive about past failures. Heck, even Bill Buckner was invited back to Fenway as guest of honor. Prior to the Sox winning the big one, the only invite for Buckner involved being horsewhipped at first base in front of a jeering crowd.

But the democrats show less ability or honesty to come clean about the antics of their beloved Bill Clinton. What a pity, because in the decades ahead of us, Bill Clinton wll only be remarkable for having been impeached. Most will know little or care less about his foreign policy, taxes, economics, etc. Nope, Clinton will equal impeachment.
Yessir. When Clinton becomes a Trivial Pursuit question, does anyone honestly believe it will ask about his economic policies? Or, will it go like this:”Name the US Presidents who have been impeached”.
Okay, okay – it might ask “Name the president whose wife was deemed suited for high office based on the fact he placed a ring on her finger.

I don’t have a problem with a CEO making a million or two per year. But One Hundred Million?

I don’t have a problem with a CEO making 50 million, 100 million, 1 billion, or whatever the market will bear.

And this is why I continually call you a Marxist, because only Marxists would see 100 million and say that he is paid too much money.

I say, good for him, and I hope that we have 50 more just like him.

I don’t envy a person for the money he makes as a president of a bank, or a CEO of a corporation, or anyone else in the private sector, because he earns it.

And he will spend that money, in one form or another.

Buy a new car – the folks at the dealership will be happy for his commission, the folks at the factory can fill another order, the mechanic, oh, and the tax man will be happy too.

Buy a new house – existing or new build, the brokers will be happy, the construction workers will be happy, the folks that supply the materials will be happy.

Put it in an offshore bank, the bank will lend it to other people who will buy cars and houses.

Unless that money is used to paper his living room, it will come back in the economy in some form or another.

And government doesn’t do that. Government dollars are dead dollars, because government doesn’t spend money well. Government will spend dollars on anything, but since government is spending other people’s money, it doesn’t spend it with an eye for frugality.

So, yeah, I have a problem with government involvement in any private sector.

So, Mr DJ Marx, the president of United Health Care is making $100,000,000 a year.

Actually, I think of his posts as enlightening. (Look for that line to be used out of context in the future :em99: )

Before everyone goes “WTF is E-Man smoking?” or thinks that I got “dosed” with Obama brand Kool-Aid™, let me explain.

He’s like a barometer of sorts that gauges the state of the Jugear Administration.

When The Chosen One™ was first elected and his poll numbers were sky high, DJ’s posts were (for the most part) smug, humorous, condescending and short.

After all, a new era of “hope and change” was dawning (hence the smugness) and “us poor rotties” were just going to have to deal with it. (hence the condescension)

All was good in the liberal world (hence the humor) and the feats and momentous milestones of the new socialist utopia would speak for themselves. (hence the shorter posts)

Now, seven months into The Chosen One™ administration , DJ’s posts are (for the most part) shrill, angry, defensive and long.

As Jugears commits gaffe after gaffe, the need to throw up any kind of smoke screen to “divert attention” (i.e. “What about Bush?! He lied people died! etc. etc. ) becomes necessary. (hence the shrillness)

Meanwhile, “us poor rotties” are gleefully piling on (hence the anger), ever mindful of the treatment given to conservatives by “liberal types”.

The Chosen One‘s poll numbers are plummeting at breakneck speed so the need to justify the idiotic liberal agenda becomes paramount. (hence the defensiveness)

Such a monumental undertaking cannot be done with short and succinct posts. Huge doses of meandering obfuscations are required. (hence the length)

There is a part of me that wonders what value this individual has provided to earn what amounts to establishing wealth to sustain generations in one year. At what point does it become excessive? Or is it even excessive? I guess it depends on perspective. If the guys earns 100Mil in a year, what his perspective on 100K? What is the difference between RICH & Wealth? And at what point does one reach automatic wealth perpetuation? And because of same, really dont need anymore money?

I am sure that others have pointed this out to the group, but it bears repeating.

One of the most important lessons I learned in Business School was that the function of management
was to increase shareholder equity. Not be nice, or green, or generous….to increase shareholder euquity…raise the stock price. See, if your dumping sludge into a river, or clear cutting forests, or being an asshole with regards to customer service, chances are, your shareholder equity will decrease. Hence, the large sums of CEO compensation. If a company is not making significant money, the CEO would not be being compensated, at least for long, in a healthy way.

Another way to look at it would be to look at what the goofs at American Idolare getting paid. How can they merit that much compensation, 25 million for one guy, and that other guy Simon getting upwards of 50 million???…Because the show is making multiples of that!!!

  49. 49
    Ogrrre says:

Well, if CEOs of companies who produce goods and services are over compensated, DJ, how about also limiting the incomes of professional athletes? What do they produce? How do they benefit the country? How do they benefit you personally? Professional athletes play games, they don’t produce anything. So, let’s limit the salaries of professional athletes to, oh, say, $100,000 per year. That should be satisfactory for anyone, right? And, while we’re at it, why should movie stars get such astounding salaries? They’re playing make-believe for g-d’s sake! Let’s limit them to no more than $100,000 per year.
Oh, here’s an idea: everyone makes $100,000 per year, no matter how much or how little they contribute to society, no matter whether they produce any goods or services. That’s fair, right DJ? Should we make exceptions to the ruling masters? After all, they live to serve the people™, right DJ?
No, DJ, the government has no business trying to dictate to anyone how much they can receive in compensation… either in the form of a minimum wage or in wage caps. It’s not the government’s fucking business. :em96:
