Still Missing the Point

Via Breitbart, I’m pretty sure an original long-form birth certificate would do the trick — for a while, until amateur Photoshoppers inevitably “discover” that the long-form’s also a forgery. Of course, according to CNN’s research, the original was discarded when Hawaii’s Health Department went paperless eight years ago, so there may be no long-form still available to produce.

Yes, we’ve heard that one too. “There ain’t no document there, so how can he produce it?”

It’s a daft argument. If that is the case, as it might be, then we’re even more baffled by King Hussein’s team of lawyers’ continued battle against disclosure. If the document doesn’t exist, then why don’t they bring forth that argument in court? If it’s true, then it would make the whole case moot, wouldn’t it? Sure, there’d surely be some still arguing that it was just a cover-up, but as far as we’re concerned nobody can or should be made to produce something that doesn’t exist. If it really doesn’t exist.

“Produce your W2s for the years 1967 through 1970”

“But, your honor, I was a toddler then and didn’t have any and, on top of that, I wasn’t a U.S. citizen at the time…”

“Oh, well case closed then.”

Yet we haven’t heard anything along those lines. When did the state of Hawaii state that the “long form” certificates don’t exist any longer? Anybody? Bueller?

Then there’s the “nothing will convince you” nonsense. I speak only for myself, of course, there surely are those out there who wouldn’t accept any sort of evidence, I just don’t happen to know any of them, but I’d be perfectly happy if that silly piece of paper was produced as evidence. End of story. Heck, I don’t even insist on me, personally, having access to it. If there’s some embarrassing bullshit in there such as King Hussein’s father being not who he claims that he is or him being born out of wedlock, I don’t care because it’s not relevant. So let some impartial, bipartisan group of people review it to answer the question and ONLY the question of whether he’s natural born. Say, the nine Supremes. If Scalia reads the document and says “OK, dude’s legit”, then I have no further questions. The rest is none of my damn business, since it does not pertain to his eligibility for office.

And finally there’s the equally idiotic “there’s an announcement of the birth in a newspaper from 1961, but maybe (sarcasm ineptly applied here) his mother was faking it to make sure her kid could become president 48 years later.”

Got me there. Because, other than ensuring your kid’s eligibility for the presidency, I can’t possibly think of any motive a mother who’d had a child sired by a foreign national could have to print something that would get automatic citizenship for her kid. Also, that “argument” relies upon the local dailies’ insistence on spending time on the phone to the local hospitals verifying that the $5 classified that they’re about to print is actually in accordance with facts on the ground. Of course, this was 48 years ago, and maybe journalists back then gave a shit about fact checking, but still… For an utterly unimportant classified ad?

If only we had that sort of journalism now.

Problem is, the burden of proof is on us. The document, flimsy as it is, is a valid birth certificate for all 50 states. It would, until recently, get you through customs and would serve as a valid form of identification to any potential employer or to acquire a passport. Obama’s legal machinations to stand against what I’m sure he claims to some degree is an invasion of his privacy, while raising questions, is perfectly legal. Everything else we have is hearsay and circumstantial, all easily explained away (maybe not to our satisfaction, but explained nonetheless). Logic demands that if we are to continue to pursue this line of reasoning, we will eventually have to produce a valid long form birth certificate from Kenya, Indonesia, or some other country. Until then, Obama’s short form birth certificate is the only credible piece of real evidence on the matter.

If conservatives, and I count myself as a skeptic about Obama’s natural born citizen status, we really think this thing has legs, then let us dispatch people to Kenya and/or Indonesia to track down contradictory evidence. I’d love nothing more than to see Obama taken out of the Oval Office in handcuffs and charged with treason and the Democrats responsible for his usurpation of power incarcerated for the remainder of their lives and all the damage they’ve done over the last six months undone. However, in the absence of credible, tangible, contradictory evidence that Obama’s Hawaiian birth certificate is not legitimate, this story has little to it.

and of course we have that famous quote from Hawaii ” I have seen Obama’s birth certificate and it is on file.”
this kind of weasel wording is what convinced me the one on file was not issued in Hawaii. they did not say he was born in Hawaii, just that he had a birth certificate.
no one is responsible for where they are born or where their parents take them when they are children but to be President of these United States is a special case. we have no laws regarding a person’s origin for any other office or job in this country.
even the passport issue may be as simple as Obama having used a Canadian passport to travel to Pakistan. at that time Canada did issue passports to Americans traveling in places that were risky. this did not involve any change in citizenship, just a little protective camouflage for travelers.

    Cannon Fodder says:

Newspaper birth announcements are just that, people proclaiming the birth of a child. Why would anyone bother fact checking? It was a paid announcement no different than a for sale ad. Do they verify that you actually have what you are claiming you want to sell? No. The ad is meaningless as far as citizenship goes.

As for going paperless, they didn’t scan these papers into the computer system? What about the hospital records? Even if they did go paperless there should be a record of the birth there.

When talking about sending people out the Indonesia and Kenya, etc. to uncover the truth? I read something somewhere (news source not a blog) that the government of Kenya refused cooperation in the matter. That in itself says something to me. Why would they refuse to help? Maybe there is something to hide? Who knows.

In the long run we won’t find out before his run is over and then it’ll be too late.

C’mon folks! The best argument for Husein al-Chicago’s ineligibility to reign over the destruction of this country was quashed several months ago. Yes, al-Chicago was adopted, while still a minor child, by the Indonesian Soetero. Indeed, young Barry’s last name was changed from Obama to Soetero. According to Indonesian law, the adoption made him an Indonesian citizen and young Barry’s mother had to relinquish his passport to American authorities. Of course, young Barry’s father coming from Kenya and all would make him a citizen of three separate countries.

Now, having said all that, one wonders if all this hassle is the REAL reason for his hatred of all things American.

So, the birth certificate has “been declared ‘real’ again”. Still … why can’t we see a copy of it? Didn’t McCain produce his?

It says :”State law bars the release of a certified birth certificate to anyone who does not have a tangible interest.”

Don’t the American people (collectively) have a tangible interest in whether he is qualified to be president? I’m not saying he wasn’t born here, but why the hell the secrecy? What could possibly be so sensitive about that document (or his school records, for that matter)?

The argument is that it is “illegal” for the state of Hawaii to release a copy. However, I should think that would mean illegal without permission from the person named on the certificate. I believe if Obama requested publication of the birth certificate, to settle the matter, the officials in Hawaii would happily comply.

Please tell me ANY official legal document in any of the 50 states which in 1961 would list someone’s race as “African”, rather than “Negro”

Anybody out there, show me a Hawaii 1961 birth certificate which says “African”.

Another mystery which is out of whack, is the claim that Obama registered for the selective service at age 18.

Registration was suspended from 1975-1980. I turned 18 in that gap, and so did BHO.
Why has he claimed to have registered, when registration was not even being done?

Or is deceit just a natural reflex with him?

Enter a certain politician that has been hounded by the media. The media would love nothing more than to score an interview with her and eviscerate her making any run for office impossible. She alone is in a special position with the media. The pen being mightier than the sword; they want to run her through with their broadsheet.

What if she is done with the bullshit? What if she really doesn’t want to run for president? What if she takes one of these ‘gotcha’ interviews and turns it back on the scumbags?

All she has to do is turn the interview into a discussion on how the media has failed the country by not vetting Obama, and how a Constitutional crisis looms. The media would have a field day. Then you let them stew a few day to gin up all their viciousness and then hit them with: “I’ll stake my political career on Obama not being eligible.” The media would have to insist Obama open his records just because the media will be smelling blood in the water. Obama will, of course, not open the records, but that would only serve to prove his dishonesty. She could hound Obama out of office.

This is going to be an all or nothing moment.

So an Hawaii official says he’s seen the original records and says, but not under oath or in the form of a certificate or affidavit of any legal weight that he’s seen the original records–but the original records were destroyed long ago!?

Most irritating is the idiotic obfuscation by DGN and his cadres that “nothing will satisfy” those who question DGN’s provenance. It’s just a variant of the “no true Scotsman” argument–self-proving, self-serving, utterly meaningless and fallacious. An ad hominem has more force.

True enough–some people will never be satisfied with real facts and documentation. Some people deny the validity of every jury verdict, every police arrest, claiming they’re all tainted by racism. Those people are wack-jobs. We don’t scrap the whole birth certificate ID system and we haven’t, thank God, scrapped trial by jury or arrest on probable cause, because some fools can’t accept reality. The system is fundamentally sound, subject to reasonable, human error.

Just as we have to accept the occasional bad call on the baseball field, recognizing that the overwhelming majority of calls are correct or at least so close, that it is unreasonable to dispute, every rational person accepts that our human institutions aren’t perfect, but that the reasonable, workable requirements of the law (or the rules of organized sports, if in that bailiwick) still have to be applied consistently and evenly. That is, except for DGN and those like him who claim special privileges, special grievances, and deny the validity of the law on which our society is based. When they say “nothing will satisfy them,” DGN et al. are engaging in obfuscatory projection. They are being dishonest with everyone, even themselves.

The vast majority of us who doubt DGN’s Constitutional qualification for POTUS would STFU about that issue, if the douche would simply pay his Fn $15 to the Hawaii Dept. of Health and get a certified, actual birth certificate. If it’s been destroyed and they have to issue something else that officially, actually says, under a legal certification or oath that he was born in Hawaii, fine. I may not like that strike call, but it is what it is. McCain produced his records, when asked. It isn’t all that f’n hard.

If it doesn’t make you “anti-birthers” more than a little suspicious when DGN utterly refuses to do something so minor and fundamental to comply with the Constitution and laws he did, sorta, twice just this year swear to uphold, then you, whoever you are, are the ones who can’t be satisfied about anything and are frankly too dense to carry on a discussion.

IF jugears had produced his original birth certificate when the subject came up, I would have said, “Shit! The fuckin’ commie is qualified.”
But, now, he has had time enough to have a very good forgery made, and I would be very suspicious of the document.
Why didn’t he just spend $20 to get a certified copy of his Hawaiian birth certificate (if he was born in Hawaii) and present it to his questioners? Why would he spend thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars in keeping his birth certificate out of the public view? When questioned about his citizenship, McCain presented his birth certificate showing he was born on a U.S. Military base in Panama to two American parents, thus proving his Constitutional qualification to run for President. Why didn’t the Marxist Mulatto do the same? Because he could not?

Yeah, that one had me a bit confused too. On one hand we have the ones excusing Zerobama’s obstructionism with a claim that the records asked for don’t exist and, on the other, we have the same people saying that some Democrat official in a heavily Democrat state depending heavily on Democrat pork states that she’s seen the document and it’s legit.

Voices in their heads, perhaps? Somebody needs professional help.

Agreed. It’s rolled out again today at Hot Air. Now, I like Ed, I like him a lot, but I’d thank him to quit telling me what would satisfy me. If he really does know, then perhaps he could tell me what my favorite color is as well? Ed’s right that there are nuts who won’t accept anything from anybody, but I ain’t one of them.

    Also, when he says that:

It’s the same reason that having Palin produce her gynecological records won’t satisfy Andrew Sullivan

…I should like to point out that, whereas there’s nothing wrong in using analogy as an argument, the analogies have to be, what’s the word for it?, actually analogous for it to work. Palin’s gynecological records, whatever might be found therein, have absolutely no bearing upon her qualifications for the office of president or vice president.

I’m just asking for a $10 document, fer crying out loud, and I don’t even have to see it myself. I just want somebody trustworthy to look at it and tell me whether the one relevant bit of information therein is what Zerobama says that it is. End of story.

Why people on our side are so eager to help Zerobama keeping that secret is a mystery to me. Sure, I’ve heard them say numerous times that it’s because “we have bigger fish to fry.” We certainly do have a large number of big fish to fry regarding Zerobama and his neo-fascist administration, no argument there, but some of us actually are capable of walking and chewing gum at the same time.

    Consider what would happen.

On the upside, we’d be rid of him. That’s a pretty big upside.

The downside? Who’s next in line? That’s right, Joe Biden. For crying out loud, no rational person would want him in the White House.

So, could they both be removed from office at one time?

Look what happens then: the Speaker of the House assumes the presidency. That’s Nancy Pelosi! Again, no rational person would want that.

Who’s next? The President pro tempore of the Senate, Robert Byrd.

Okay, it’s a mass impeachment then. It removes the president, vice-president, Speaker of the House, and the President pro tempore of the Senate. Who assumes the presidency then? The Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.

Next? Secretary of the Treasury, Timothy Geithner.
