And you thought YOUR media was bad????

I have, over the years, had it up to the proverbial with the bullshit of the media, their lies, misconceptions, mistruths, outright exaggerations, their pandering to The One™ and their slavish kowtowing to that drooling imbecile of a Prime Minister we have been saddled with..but this….THIS, is a whole new level of rank idiocy and utter imcompetence.

How this got past the editor is beyond me…but read it for yourself

Another shooting, another robbery, another triumph for the sick joke that is Australian gun control.
.but that’s not the topic for today.

This, my dear readers, is the gem that stood out to me when I read this.

The second robber is believed to have pulled out a semi-automatic revolver and shot John before stealing cash and running off.

No, you are not seeing things…. that is the exact quote, word for word.

Proof yet again that no matter whose shore they are on, the LameStream media™ would need approach radar, full tech support, a mirror, six hunting dogs and a fully operational GPS system, to find their own ass.

On a good day.

    AH HA!

Brendan, old buddy, they left this one out to suck you in.

There really was such a thing!

The Webley Fosbery Automatic Revolver was a .455 Eley caliber that was popular with Target Shooters in the early part of the 20th century. Firing the revolver made the barrel, cylinder and the upper part of the frome recoil, turning the cylinder and cocking the hammer.

They felt seriously weird when you fired one, though . .

Although, I really can’t see a miscreant using an antique worth north of 2 ounces of gold bullion to commit a robbery, so it really is probably the mediot with is head in his fourth point of contact, but it is possible.

No you did- ennn (not sure how to write that particular ebonics phrase)
I’m going to regret this but here goes . . .

From Wikipedia: “The Webley-Fosbery Automatic Revolver was the first commercial example, introduced in 1901. It was recoil-operated, and the cylinder and barrel recoiled backwards to cock the hammer and revolve the cylinder. It was distinctive in that cam grooves were milled on the outside of the cylinder to provide a means of advancing to the next chamber–half a turn as the cylinder moved back, and half a turn as it moved forward. .38 caliber versions held 8 shots, .455 caliber versions 6. At the time, the few available automatic pistols were larger, less reliable, and more expensive. The automatic revolver was popular when it first came out, but was quickly superseded by the creation of reliable, inexpensive semi-automatic pistols.”

Yeah, I know – The reporter was wrong and probably couldn’t tell a revolver from an uzi but I just love the Webley, wish I had one.

Hey, that Webley isn’t the only “Auto Revolver” in existence either. This here is more recent, and something I would most definitely love to acquire in .44 Magnum were I to have the chance.

Yes, “autorevolvers” do exist, but I really doubt that one was used in the crime related in the article. So, yes they are out there, but no, the reporter was most likely just spouting ignorance… Kinda like a politician. Maybe the reporter is running for office, eh?

Heh, that’s about as accurate as a story I heard on the TV news about 15 years ago.

Some blockhead got pulled over after trying to outrun the police in a mid-80’s conversion van, complete with the curtains in the windows. They searched his car and found a pistol in the glovebox. So they have a clip of the officer holding a .357 snubbie in one hand, and the rounds in the other. The rounds were obviously lead semi-wadcutters, and so the anchor-idiot says: “The gun was loaded with hollow-point dum-dum copkiller bullets…”

    1) Firearms aren’t loaded with bullets, they’re loaded with ROUNDS. (Unless they’re shotguns, in which case they’re SHELLS.) BULLETS are the high-speed metal thingies that come out the business end.

    2) SWCs are NOT hollow-points, seeing how the points are not hollow. They’re flat.

    3) Dum-dums are likewise NOT hollow-points, seeing as how you fill the hollow point with something. A filled hole is no longer a hole.

    4) “Cop killers” DO NOT EXIST.

I remember the incident so well because I swore at that point that if these boneheads can’t get their facts right, I’m not going to listen to them. It was the last time I ever got my news from the TV.

Brendan, that’s about par for the course for the Sydney Morning Herald. Unfortunately, I don’t the The Australian would do that much better, nor would most American newspapers. Journos the world over seem to be predisposed to seeing guns as malevolent beings with a will of their own. Accuracy in reporting? They don’ need no stinkin’ accuracy, as long as they’re making their political point, which is “guns are baaaaad!”
