The Dinner Roll …

Once upon a time I was invited to the White House for a private dinner with the President. I am a respected businessman, with a factory that produces memory chips for computers and portable electronics. There was some talk that my industry was being scrutinized by the administration, but I paid it no mind. I live in a FREE country. There’s nothing that the government can do to me if I’ve broken no laws. My wealth was EARNED honestly, and an invitation to dinner with an American President is an honor.

I checked my coat, was greeted by the Chief of Staff, and joined the President in a yellow dining room. We sat across from each other at a table draped in white linen. The Great Seal was embossed on the china. Uniformed staff served our dinner.

The meal was served, and I was startled when my waiter suddenly reached out, plucked a dinner roll off my plate and began nibbling it as he walked back to the kitchen. “Sorry ’bout that,” said the President. “Andrew is very hungry.”

“I don’t appreciate…” I began, but as I looked into the calm brown eyes across from me, I felt immediately guilty and petty. It was just a dinner roll. “Of course,” I concluded, and reached for my glass. Before I could, however, another waiter reached forward, took the glass away and swallowed the wine in a single gulp. “And his brother, Eric, is very thirsty,” said the President.

I didn’t say anything. The President is testing my compassion, I thought. I withheld my comments and decided to play along. I don’t want to seem unkind. My plate was whisked away before I had tasted a bite.
“Eric’s children are also quite hungry.” With a lurch, I crashed to the floor. My chair had been pulled out from under me.

I stood, brushing myself off angrily, and watched as it was carried from the room. And their grandmother can’t stand for long.”

I excused myself, smiling outwardly, but inside feeling like a fool. Obviously I had been invited to the White House to be sport for some game. I reached for my coat, to find that it had been taken.

I turned back to the President. “Their grandfather doesn’t like the cold.”

I wanted to shout, “that was my coat!” But again, I looked at the placid smiling face of my host and decided I was being a poor sport. I spread my hands helplessly and chuckled. Then I felt my hip pocket and realized my wallet was gone. I excused myself and walked to a phone on an elegant side table.

I learned shortly that my credit cards had been maxed out, my bank accounts emptied, my retirement and equity portfolios had vanished, and my wife had been thrown out of our home. Apparently, the waiters and their families were moving in. The President hadn’t moved or spoken as I learned all this, but finally I lowered the phone into its cradle and turned to face him.

“Andrew’s whole family has made bad financial decisions. They haven’t planned for retirement and they need a house. They recently defaulted on a subprime mortgage. I told them they could have your home. They need it more than you do.”

My hands were shaking. I felt faint. I stumbled back to the table and knelt on the floor. The President cheerfully cut his meat, ate his steak, and drank his wine. I lowered my eyes and stared at the small grey circles on the tablecloth that were water drops.

“By the way,” he added, “I have just signed an Executive Order nationalizing your factories. I’m firing you as head of your business. I’ll be operating the firm now for the benefit of all mankind. There’s a whole bunch of Erics and Andrews out there and they can’t come to you for jobs groveling like beggars..we need to spread YOUR wealth around…”

I looked up. The President dropped his spoon into the empty ramekin which had been his crème Brule. He drained the last drops of his wine. As the table was cleared, he lit a cigarette and leaned back in his chair.

He stared at me. I clung to the edge of the table as if it were a ledge and I were a man hanging over an abyss. I thought of the years behind me, of the life I had lived.. The life I had earned with a lifetime of work, risk and struggle.

Why was I punished? How had I allowed it to be taken? What game had I played and lost? I looked across the table and noticed with some surprise that there was no game board between us.

What had I done wrong?

As if answering the unspoken thought, the President suddenly cocked his head, locked his empty eyes to mine, and bared a million teeth, chuckling wryly as he folded his hands. “You should have stopped me at the dinner roll,” he said.

This is what the Tea Party movement is all about. We’re sick and tired of the moochers taking everything with the Government’s approval. They’ve taken the roll and the wine, and they’re reaching for the dinner plate. If that happens to me, they’re pulling back a bloody stump.

    First, too.

Being old enough to have been taught real fact based history this is also the story of Hitler, when his army marched into the Rhineland to take it back he gave explicit orders no shooting and only had issued one bullet to every other soldier, had his bluff been called the history would have been way different, the bread roll moment.

I forget which pResident, how long ago, I first heard that story written of. But we didn’t listen, did we? We’d better this time, or it will become all too real. May have been Jimmuh Peanut, which is why we got Ronaldus Maximus. We just didn’t go far enough in the Congressional purge along with him. :em12:

As a people we simply need to start from a clean slate. Vote out all incumbents that are up for re-election and try to place folks that have good moral fibre. That is all it takes. Within 12 years the house and senate would be cleaned out and a great measure of this insanity could be rejected and righted. It is not an impossible goal. The alternative is blood in the streets and the have nots pitted against the haves, which is exactly what the progressives want as their egos are so large that they figure they will still end up in charge. If it ever comes to this, rest assured that progressives will be #1 on my bucket list, make that my list, their bucket. Thatisall.

@ Terrapod: That is simple now, all the parasites that espoused the AGW mantra should be toast, they have absolutely no wriggle room whatsoever so clean the slate with that, you do not need a vote, treason or senility are the only reasons for where they stood and both exclude them from serving, take them to the vets it is the only humane way.

Agree with the incumbent cleansing plan, 2 or 3 election cycles will do it. One caveat tho – when they leave they have to take all staff members, both in DC/State and their home districts with them. An often overlooked source of entrenched bullshit clout and power.

Tim raises an excellent point. It’s the staffers who actually write most of the legislation that’s enacted, and who often work for the various committees rather than the individual Members. They can be very good, providing the expertise and institutional memory that newer members of the committees may lack, or very bad, legislating in fact from behind the scenes, ensuring that their own pet projects and viewpoints are written into law, all with no accountability to any American voter. All too often, it’s the latter. Many are former lobbyists who keep on representing the interest groups they used to work for, except now they have their hands on the purse strings and ability to enact law that the Congress controls. Don’t think they don’t use it to their advantage, either. Agreed, they should go, the good with the bad. Sorry, but the Founders never envisioned Government (to include the Legislature) as a lifetime sinecure. And I propose a lengthy ban, maybe five years, with no waivers allowed, before any staffer can work for any any organization that lobbies Congress. And in the other direction as well. Stop the revolving door.

If you think that shoving a new and callow bunch of legislators into the fray will fix things, think more carefully about the Long Road to where we are.

This took me all of 2 minutes to look up.

    And the Money Quote!

The campaign, then, is a Wallace-seeking-his-destiny campaign. It is not a Communist Party campaign, despite the closeness with which he has hewn to the Kremlin’s Party line and despite the number of Party members and Party-liners manning the machinery of the campaign. Wallace turned a deaf ear to many of his friends and former associates who pleaded with him not to take the step. But their earnest arguments were deflected by the Communist and other voices, both from outside and from within himself, which impel Wallace on.

Of course, one can say the same thing about Wilson, Woodrow that is.

Would that be like Joe Stalin’s serfs? The “ultimate solution”, if you will, to what stands in the way of the statist’s march to tyranny, is not that far off.
I’m betting on a combo plan of massive disease outbreaks, deliberate government ineptitude, Islamic nuclear horror (both unstable isotopic poisoning and crude fission are real possibilities), and even famine of a grand scale in the Americas and Africa that will overshadow the Ukrainian and Chinese culling.
These f^<ks are committed to there ideology. They have been nothing more than pin-pricked politically with the MA elections. If you believe they would never encourage our populace to turn on one another to eradicate 25% of the chaff (as they define it) you truly don't know communism.
If you do believe, then yes, Mudshark, we must fight. Fight like no other people have ever had too.

    The Train Ride

Sitting together on a train was Obama, George Bush Jr., a little old lady, and a young blond girl with large breasts.

The train goes into a dark tunnel and a few seconds later there is the sound of a loud slap. When the train emerges from the tunnel,

Obama has a bright red hand print on his cheek. No one speaks.

The old lady thinks: Obama must have groped the blond in the dark, and she slapped him.

The blond girl thinks: Obama must have tried to grope me in the dark, but missed and fondled the old lady and she slapped him.

Obama thinks: Bush must have groped the blond in the dark. She tried to slap him but missed and got me instead.

George Bush thinks: I can’t wait for another tunnel, so I can smack Obama again.

Libertarians are right wing extremists??? I call bullshit. For Libertarians this isn’t about left vs right or up vs down or any other equally useless terms. It’s about individualism( which we favor) vs collectivism (which we oppose). Yet all the media and the majority of Americans can only think in terms of left vs right. The issues are a bit more complex than simply left vs right.

  28. 28

So, I went over to read that DCCC thing. What idiots. Communist fools don’t understand free market economics. They can only cling to their socialist ideals, not realizing that that shit doesn’t work. All they need do, actually, is look in the mirror. Are THEY willing to strip THEIR existence down to the bare bones they want us to? What we need here is not this : :em58: , but a full blown obvious FINGER!

I agree, the drive to socialism has to stop. Nearly every president and congress since FDR ( Both Republican and democratic) has been pushing socialism down our collective throats via small and large increments. It will continue until we realize that we need to stop choosing between socialist and socialist light.

I am very proud of the tea party movement( wish that I could have participated but my military duties prevented me from doing so) because it brought various factions together at the negotiating table. The tea parties brought together the Ron Paul Republicans/ Libertarians, Traditional Republicans, Conservatives, Moderates and Constitutionalists under one banner. They allowed us to put our old squabbles behind us in order to unite against socialism.

We can only defeat socialism if we unite against it.
