They Handled Fortress Europe, After All

So Ear Leader’s regime, desperate for some theater to demonstrate how the Evil Anarcho-Terrorist Rethugnicans are hurting, HURTING people by refusing to give Ear Leader everything he demands without a peep, decided to declare the WWII memorial in DC closed due to the “shutdown.”

Mind you, we’re not talking about the Smithsonian here. It’s not a building guarding innumerable priceless national treasures. It’s a piece of landscape, a park, an open area with some monuments on it. It doesn’t need any personnel to function, anymore than your local playground/picnic area needs any.

But the Regime needed theatrics, so they ordered a bunch of obviously “essential” government drones out to barricade the entire area off, just to make sure that nobody dared wander into a public piece of landscape unsupervised.

Didn’t turn out too well for them when a shitload of WWII vets showed up as part of the yearly Honor Flight to honor their fallen brothers. As a side note, the organizers of Honor Flight were even polite enough to ask whether they might be allowed to wander the grounds of a memorial that they paid for, both with their blood and treasure, only to be told by the Regime’s goons, as politely as only government jackboots can say it, to fuck off and die.

Anyway, neither the refusals from the administration of a dope-smoking, underachieving affirmative action poster boy, nor the flimsy barricades erected by his stormtroopers to keep those horrid hooligans out much fazed the guys who’d successfully beaten the crap out of Bloody Omaha, Iwo Jima and too many other obstacles to mention, so they promptly proceeded to knock Ear Leader’s barricades down and go about their business, paying their respects to their brothers.

The park police, wisely, decided to pretend that they’d gone blind and deaf. Din’t see NUFFINK! The prospect of having their fat arses kicked to dust by a bunch of nonagenarians didn’t appeal to them, it would appear. Or maybe it was out of respect. We’d really like to think that.

End result? We don’t think this bit of theater worked out quite the way Ear Leader had intended but, then again, he is justly famous for fucking up everything he touches.

And since we’re busy ripping off our Sestrichka’s site, we’d like to point to a glorious rant of hers regarding this whole “shutdown” business.

She doesn’t hold back. Then again, she never did, and that’s why we love her so very much. Both sides get both barrels. The Democrat Socialists for being Democrat Socialists who don’t understand how this whole “democracy” thing works, and the Retardlicans for wasting three years focusing all of their efforts on attacking the “wacko-birds” who handed them the House in 2010 on a silver platter instead of, you know, maybe working to get rid of the 404Care disaster that they promised to focus on getting rid of if they were elected.

One note on her closing paragraph:

Personally, I’d love to see just one politician with the testicular fortitude to say he or she would give up their salary for however long it takes for them to figure out how to fix this mess!

Look no further, dorogaya sestrichka moya, Ted Cruz has already done just that.

How utterly unusual. A politician, a politician putting his money where his mouth is and doing exactly what he said he would be doing. We’re hoping he becomes a trend-setter.

Incidentally, while you’re over there reading her most excellent rant, we’d like to note that she’s one of the “non-essential” ones currently sent home without pay on Harry Reid and Ear Leader’s orders since, obviously, analysts are not at all essential to our nation. So if you have a shekel, it’d mean a lot to us. And if you don’t, then that’s OK too. Heaven knows that there aren’t very many shekels to go around anymore in the Golden Age of Obamanomics.

Thatisall.

Ummm. The last I looked, this was a federal park, cleaned, operated and patrolled by — wait for it — US Park personnel. You know, the schlubs who have been forced to stay at home because the children in the Congress can’t seem to get along.

The reason they shut these places down isn’t to make some “statement” or “stand”, it is mainly due to the lack of personnel to properly watch and maintain the facilities. That’s all, no theatrics, no hyperbole, no hidden messages.

Look at it more like PROTECTING the facilities instead of keeping you away from them.

Absolutely. Because H’shem KNOWS an open park NEEDS protection from a crowd of rowdy nonagenarian hooligans paying their respects!

What, they’d be crawling all OVER those monuments spraying swastikas like they were going out of style in a New York MINUTE!

Stop right there, because I agree. Cleanliness is next to godliness.

There’s a solution for that too, however. If this “park” gets dirty, just invite the Tea Party over to have a rally there. They never fail to leave the area they’ve been rallying in even cleaner than it was when they got there.

I mean, you pretty much have to deploy the National Guard to keep those dangerous extremist terrorist Tea Partiers from mowing the lawn and trimming the edges before they leave. Hmmm… Maybe I just found the solution to my yard work chores. Wonder if they do bushes too?

Unlike Occupy Wherever, where you have to wear steel-soled golf cleats and hip waders to keep from injuring yourself on used condoms, hypodermic needles and random body parts once they finally leave.

I would love to see the Patriot Guard “flash mob” the VietNam Memorial and then offer to provide security for the war memorials until the critters get their shit together.

Hell the local VFW, AmVet, Moose, elk, duck, kiwanis whatever lodge should publicly offer to monitor the properties. Strictly a observe and report presence. Whatever organization that did that would receive a recruiting benefit from the publicity.

Yeah, Goodness knows, you need Park Police over there in case any octogenarian veterans need a tazin’!

Someone did inform me of a couple of politicians who decided to give their salaries to charity while this mess goes on. Proves once again how much we need to clone Ted Cruz and place 100 of him in the Senate!

I told my dad this morning that I would like to see every Congressleech, and every member of this corrupt administration give up their salary willingly to just one family whom they have forced into unexpected unemployment with their shenanigans! I know that won’t happen. Chuck Hagel will continue to happily mismanage the DoD, while Zero will be globetrotting the world on his oh-so important missions, and not giving a thought to the hundreds of thousands of families he’s tossed on their asses.

    Such is life.

Thanks too so much, moy dorogoy bratik, for the mention! Sometimes I forget that “donate” button is there. I’ve used it twice – both times for Saint Bernard rescue efforts. It seems I’m the one needing rescuing now. :( The moral support means more than anything else!

this monument and the Gettysburg National Park and the libraries and other parks and museums have been shut down PRECISELY to make a statement. These are punitive measures, designed to show the “inconvenience” to the sheep people caused by shutting down big brother, giving talking points to the democRats to use when being interviewed by their lap dogs in the press. Can you seriously say that there are more valid places and agencies and bureaucracies that can be turned off and shut down that would save more money?

How about the rest of the scum in DC following Cruz’s example and not accepting pay during the shutdown?

from what I’ve read on a Civil War blog that I hang out on when not here, a lot of folk did show up at Gettysburg, parked on side roads and walked into the National park there. I’ve been on that field both before and after it’s operating hours and the Rangers normally don’t make a fuss about that. I’m pretty sure the skeleton staff will look the other way unless told otherwise by some bureaucrat asshole.

Speaking of showing up armed, I wonder what they would do if a regiment sized group of re-enactors showed up and marched onto the field?

If there is a shred of truth in any of this, then please explain this closure. The National Park Service closed the Claude Moore Colonial Farm in Virginia even though it is privately funded and privately staffed. Their crime? The private park operates on federal land. The staff at the park, all of whom showed up for work, are furious. These actions by the National Park Service to set up ‘Barrycades’ are so obviously an attempt to manufacture hardship that any argument raised against it cannot be allowed to stand. It’s not like we should be surprised – the same kind of behaviors marked the administration’s response to the sequester as well.

Meanwhile, day one of ObamaCare is an unmitigated disaster at the online exchanges as unfinished sites crash and users abandon the process en mass. This clearly and abundantly validates the conservative position that the implementation of ObamaCare must be halted before it can be allowed to wreak further havoc on our feeble economy.

What a pluperfectly fucked up mess. Reid and Obama have said ‘Nein’ to any compromise. And this with the federal government about to run out of cash. An unprecedented set of actions marked for its lack of vision and leadership, and its potential for unanticipated consequences. Hold on to your hats.

Have you wondered that out loud on the civil war blogs? If so..your one of them gawdamn instigators….and I salute you! :em01:

I would like to see this moment in time used to send them one last message in a non-violent manner that they need to back off in the interest of their own self preservation. If they fail to have a moment of clarity, then thats their ass. I say this understanding that these types of people never give up willingly and that this means we will be forced to kill them. But I would still like to give them a opportunity mostly due to my own self interest. Their failure will make my efforts to remove them from existence easier on my conscience in the future.

A little OT but along the vein of “resistance”, anyone see what the OathKeepers are up to today? They are advocating the creation of local Cadre designed on the SF A-Team model. I thought that was interesting in that by taking that position it places a media bullseye on them for being labeled radical, extremist, etc. etc.

I think that was done yesterday by the WWII vets and GOP reps that met them at the monument and took down the barricades. I’ll bet the modern day Edward II and the rest of his plantagenet wannabes were a little uneasy about seeing that from the windows of their castle.

I want to say this loud and clear to the people on Capitol Hill who are listening, to this administration. You lay one damn hand on one of those World War II vets at that memorial and I’ll bring half a million people to that damn memorial! You got that?!

I’m sitting here stewing thinking about this – playing these damn games? You’ll ignite a movement in this country like you’ve never seen before! The biker patriot army – veterans from all over the country, every single war and battle in this country, Republican, Democrat, Independent, whatever!

I’ll be damned if one president, with his feet up on the desk in the oval office, with a smirk on his face, looking at his golf card…I’ll be damned if this president or anybody else is going to shut down that WWII memorial. Period! These men are in their 80s and 90s.

So let me repeat! You lay one hand on one of those men and arrest them for going to their memorial, which they fought for, which was not paid by you dammit, it was paid by the American people – we will come out of every town and city in this nation! We will come out of every county. And both coasts! Both borders! And we will march on Washington against your tyranny!

In all seriousness, this may not end well. It is starting to remind me of the Bonus March. The best idea is the President goes there and personally lets them in and does a huge photo op. Or at least just have everyone stand around and let them go in anyway, no problem. That is smart. Otherwise this is the kind of thing that could snowball.
