Oh Sweet Jove! The ShutdownPocalypse is Upon Us!

Hide the children, stock up on canned goods and prepare for doom, DOOM we tell you as the midnight deadline has been passed and Harry Reid and the National Socialist Democrat Workers’ Party succeeds in shutting down the government to keep golden Cadillac healthcare plans for themselves and nobody else, taxing grandma and grandpa’s wheelchairs and pacemakers and funemploying millions of American workers because companies can’t afford to keep them anymore.

Cower in terror as the Apocalypse hits thanks to Ogabe’s misadministration’s willingness to compromise and negotiate with Syrian al-Qaeda and Iranian mullahs but NOT Republicans.

Pray for salvation as a terrified nation suffers under the terror reign of no transgender community committees, no extended hours at museums and various and sundry other insufferable indignities.

This is the end, dear friends, the END and we must all stand up at once alongside comrades Ogabe, Reid, McConnell, King, McCain and all of the other heroes who will not see any rest until they have made sure that every last single American has been forced on penalty of imprisonment to pay more for less care, whether they need it or not.

We mean, apart from the unimaginable terrors of having to make do with no more cowboy poetry festivals until this inhumane shutdown is stopped by a total surrender to our Beloved Dear Leader Ogabe and his wise reign, we also must face the inevitable horrors of the Republican party being punished by their voters for not being sufficiently mendacious on the campaign trail, for having committed the unpardonable sin of doing what they promised they would be doing when they were whoring for votes.

Because, if there is one thing we do know, it’s that the voters organizing the fundraisers, running the get out the vote efforts, distributing the fliers and handing over every dime they can afford to help their representatives get elected will not stand, will not STAND for their elected representatives keeping their promises.

If such a thing were to happen, as it seems to be the case right now, they’ll just stay home or even vote for the people who WILL confiscate their property, eliminate their rights and lie to them incessantly because that’s what voters want.

Just remember the horrible, horrible consequences of the Newt Gingrich (HISS! SPIT!) engineered shutdown in 1995. As no enlightened, pragmatic, focused solely on winning RINO hysteric will hesitate to tell you over and over again until you pray for the release of sweet death if only they’ll shut up, Newt’s horribly misguided, uncivil, unpragmatic, pointless political theater (that resulted in the GOP getting what they and their voters wanted, but let’s not talk about THAT!) back in ’95 caused a horrid, endless, devastating bloodbath for the GOP that would never wield meaningful power again.

Because of the, shudder, SHUDDER, SHUTDOWN! Republicans were vilified, ridiculed, hated and utterly destroyed, destroyed in subsequent elections and surely, surely you don’t want THAT to happen again?

Of course, His Imperial Majesty, not believing a single word coming out of a politician’s pie hole, much less a pearl-clutching hysteric like McCain’s, decided to look up the actual numbers. We mean, we’re not perfect, so our memory might be a bit off.

And we found that the horrifying, party-destroying consequences of standing up for principle and what voters wanted and getting a petulant child president to do what he needed to do resulted, in the following election, in a gain of 3 seats in the Senate and the loss of 4 seats in the House.

Both of which remained in Republican control, mind you.

So the GOP back then maintained majorities in both houses at a net loss of 1, ONE seat in exchange for stopping a retarded socialist from destroying the economy, and that is considered “unacceptable losses” by the RINO hysterics?

THAT is the argument that they keep trotting out in favor of going full Neville Chamberlain on Harry Hitler?

Just to set the record straight, once again:

The allegedly “horrible, disastrous consequences” of shutting down the government back in 1995 was maintaining control of both houses of Congress while losing ONE SEAT, NET?

You need better talking points, AllahpunditRoveMcCain.

Thatisall.

    P. S. I work for the federal government (yeah, but it’s a paycheck) and there was still coffee here this morning, the lights are still on, my Sooper Sekrit Emerjensy phone didn’t squall like a banshee this morning and tell me not to come in and I suspect the usual flotsam will be standing in the hall all day drinking said coffee scratching balls (or ass cracks) that are hairless from the endless abrasion and talking about how TERRIBLE it all is at a volume level high enough that it precludes those of us who were forced in here from the private sector due to this soaring economic recovery from getting any work done whatsoever.

    *sigh*

Let’s see….I woke up this morning as the sun was coming up (government didn’t shut down the sunrise). I took my dog for his morning walk (government shutdown didn’t roll up the streets). Came home and made my morning coffee (electricity wasn’t affected by government shutdown). Turned on Mike and Mike in the morning to get the scores from last night (ESPN wasn’t nixed in the government shutdown).
Ok, so someone has to tell me how having a bunch of crackbaby politicians experiencing unemployment is a bad thing…….

Since having a fully operational death star federal government for the last five years has resulted in the indiscriminate monkey-hammering of the economy, we might as well try shutting some of it down to see what happens.

It is fascinating how quickly federal employees become the enemy during these events!

    WE DON’T NEED YOU!
    WE’RE FINE WITHOUT YOU!
    YOU’RE A LEECH!

    Blah, blah, blah.

I work for DoD in a national security capacity. I’m on furlough, as is my entire division. Not saying we’re “essential” for the immediate running of the country, but I’d love to see foreign policy and defense without what we do in the future!

But we’re apparently the enemy, even though we’re caught in the middle of this bullshit, with NO promise of an actual salary for the month (and no, from what we’ve been told, we’re not getting anything back). That’s on top of a 20 percent pay cut for several months this summer.

If the American people no longer need my skill set, so be it. Let me be fired. But to be put on a non-pay status, because our legisleeches can’t get their collective heads out of their collective asses, is insulting. It’s not because I’m incompetent, and it’s not because I am lazy or do a bad job. I’ve been known to stay until midnight for a PDB the next morning. It’s because those who are getting paid, ON MY DIME, are too incompetent to ensure that my paycheck is in the budget.

So yeah… most of you won’t be affected by this. The true leeches who receive bennies at my expense, who suck on entitlements like there’s no tomorrow won’t be affected. I won’t be able to make rent, but hey, why should they give a fuck about that?

    Fuck this shit.

You? The enemy? Of course not, sestrichka moya, and it pisses me off too that FedGovCo can’t get their shit together so actually useful services can get funded. Actually, I was under the impression that the Funding Resolution for the military would cover you guys as well, but obviously FedGovCo fucked that up too.

They must think that those PDBs just pop into existence from nowhere or that our military operates based on random coin tosses every morning.

Business as usual for the fucking parasites on the Potomac: “Give us all your money or the puppy gets it!”

No dude, no one is saying a DOD employee is the enemy because many like myself believe that actually defending our nation IS essential, in fact it is one of the few governmental duties provided for in our Founding documents.
Making sure crack infested baby factory gets her gubmint cheese is NOT and THAT is the enemy.

Emperor Misha I recently posted..Oh Sweet Jove! The ShutdownPocalypse is Upon Us!

Moy dorogoy bratik – I truly didn’t mean to imply you thought I was the enemy! Forgive me if it sounded like that. I’m really frustrated and somewhat scared of what will happen. It’s more of a general attitude I see from people. They think that because CIA, FBI and the military are operating, and the air traffic controllers are working, that things are OK and that everyone else is not necessary. What they don’t understand is that:

    a) CIA is not the only intelligence agency out there (no matter how much they claim that they are), and much of the IC is, in fact, shut down.
    b) Just because the nation won’t explode while I’m at home not getting paid, doesn’t mean that what I do isn’t important.
    c) Most civil servants are doing a job they were hired to do, and many of them do it using expertise that most of the people castigating them as leeches couldn’t hope to gain/
    d) Most of us are caught in the middle of this.

But I get this (on my blog in particular) attitude like “Oh, NOW you’re wanting compromise that YOUR ox is being gored!” or “I love how you THINK you’re essential! Like you deserve my tax dollars!”

    It’s frustrating, ya know?

They don’t give a shit that I have a family, that the “Cadillac health insurance” they think all federal employees have has covered so little of my daughter’s medical expenses, that until very recently I was paying $1100 out of pocket for unreimbursed medical expenses every month! They don’t give a shit that I won’t be able to make rent this month. I’m only a government leech, so it’s time for a career change. I’ve even had one shitbag on Facebook advise me to get a “real” job rather than mooch off the taxpayer!

Anyway… thanks for letting me vent!

    Love you lots!

Oh, yeah… and no. We don’t fall under military. We fall under the DoD, and funded by both ODNI and DoD, so it becomes a bit messy.

Yeah, Nicki, know what you mean. As a mid-level GS employee I have basically 3 positions, Contingency Planner (don’t ask, you don’t want to know) Emergency Manager (my real area of expertise) and Anti-Terrorism Officer. So, this morning, I get told to drive 30 miles to work to “perform an orderly shutdown” which meant signing the paperwork putting me on furlough and doing my pay sheet (another goat rope). While there, I checked on the tropical system (I’m on the Gulf Coast, these things matter) and walked out front to find an unattended box truck sitting in front of the building. I’m not normally paranoid, but I was in Oklahoma City the week before the bombing, so I’m a little “sensitive” about things like that and I work in a high rise. I should have known it was OK, there was an adorable Staffordshire Terrier in the front seat, but I set off after the owners anyway. Find them, it’s not an issue, they were lost and looking for directions. Took care of that, no worries.

BUT…my boss came in while I was talking to the driver and his wife (well, and playing with the dog) and saw me. Didn’t say anything then, but when I went to brief on the possible tropical system, I’m informed that I’M NOT SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING!

Well, what the fuck? Why the hell am I here? Then I realized something…I don’t work for the DoD, the Air Force or the fucking Congress, I work for the people in my unit that I’m tasked to protect. I’m gonna do my job, whatever the current situation is, as long as I’m on base. Fuck Obama, fuck the boss, fuck all of them. I have a job to do, and as long as I’m at the office (and other times, I check my mail from home) I’m gonna do it! They don’t like that, fucking fire me, I was looking for a job when I found this one.

And for all those asswipes at the news sites (including Lucienne which I read every day) who keep painting all government employees with the same brush…FUCK YOU! I’m uniquely qualified for my position through training and experience (like Nicki) and most of you dick drips couldn’t make the decisions I have to, let alone brief General Officers on them and the conditions that effect them. Not to mention the 1000 or so members and dependents that decide what to do based on what I tell the boss. And guess what? Everyone in an Emergency Management position works at some level of government, we have no choice. There’s no private market for what we do.

And for all of you that believe that “Government employees make 85K a year” bullshit, I have have to say is I want my other fucking 20k!

    Good question indeed.
There was another report on WBBM radio this morning that there are some 2 million non-military federal employees.
Some dhimmocrat was lecturing the Republicans that they don’t get to pick and choose which parts of government get to re-open. Well I personally think that’s a conversation that is long past due. Now that it’s (partially) shut down, it’s time to take a good hard look at what parts are truly essential and should be re-opened as well as what parts aren’t and should be granted a quick and merciful death.

    LC Gladiator growls and barks:

President Obama has been playing golf at a furious pace this year – already heading out more times than during any year of his presidency – but the government shutdown raises the prospect that his favorite leisure activity is about to be suspended.

It’s unclear how a presidential golf outing could be justified as “essential,” which is the general standard for government activities that continue during the shutdown.

When Obama is in Washington, he plays at one of two publicly funded courses – either the links at Andrews Air Force Base or at Fort Belvoir. His rounds are paid for out of the public kitty.

What’s more, the public must pay for the nearly half hour trip by the large motorcade that shuttles the president to his golf destination, costs that involve the logistics of the movement as well as staff and Secret Service who must accompany Obama.

But beyond the actual costs, a golf excursion by Obama when the government is supposedly trimming costs and while furloughed federal workers are going without pay would be extremely bad public relations for a president waging a shutdown public opinion war against Republicans.

Obama generally plays every Saturday, most recently this past Saturday when he went out even as the government headed toward a shutdown. It was the 35th time he has played this year, eclipsing his 2011 record of 34 outings.

Could we find funds in the WH budget, (not shutdown??), that would pay for two of those golf courses of the world driving and putting simulations? And two treads for duffer-in-charge to actually do the walking, (if he does walk them). WH and Camp David …

What % less than his fouling up on any one Saturday the courses of the active duty and retireds that actually both deserve and have earned the right to choose to play golf.
