A perfect example of how well-meaning, and we do mean that in the most positive way imaginable, conservatives continue to allow the Leftists to define and dominate the battleground of the Narrative™.
And we’ll remain uncharacteristically civil throughout, which we know will come as a huge disappointment to our more, ahem, spirited LCs and GLORs, but we really do understand the argument that Joel Pollack of Breitbart.com is trying to make. We don’t agree with it, but we do understand where he’s coming from.
There was no reason to draw attention to the hypocrisy of the media and the so-called civil rights establishment regarding crimes where the racial labels were reversed, because the labels in the Martin case were wrong in the first place.
I dislike the tit-for-tat stories anyway. The fact that the media and the left are obsessed with race does not mean the rest of us must be. And there is the very real danger that in trying to demonstrate the hypocrisy of race-mongers like Al Sharpton and the journalists who follow eagerly in their wake, focusing on the race of perpetrators and victims ends up emphasizing stereotypes and inflaming passions–quite independently of the argument at hand.
There’s a mouthful for you, and all of it wrong.
First off: “There was no reason to draw attention to the hypocrisy of the media and the so-called civil rights establishment regarding crimes where the racial labels were reversed, because the labels in the Martin case were wrong in the first place.”
Wrong. There is every reason to draw attention to it, and whether or not the labels were ‘wrong’ or not is not a reason not to. Because the Leftist ProgNazis will always be wrong. If they were, in any way, inhibited by a need to be right in their allegations, then they wouldn’t ever have anything to say. Because their entire worldview is, in fact, wrong. Try to build a case for a Narrative™ built on falsehoods without using counterfactual arguments. No, of course you can’t. It’s a logical impossibility. You can’t prove a falsehood using only truth to advance it.
Again, we know a thing or two about how leftist “argument” works. We were trained very well indeed. By themselves.
So to refuse to engage their falsehoods simply because “there’s no need since they’re obviously lying through their teeth” is exactly what a committed leftist wants you to think. Because your “there’s no need” rests firmly on the assumption that everybody will automatically see how self-evidently full of it they are with no intervention from you needed. Which is, and we’re trying to be charitable here, about as downright military grade stupid as you can be. In a society where the leftists dominate the government, the schools and the media, you can rest assured that The Great Unwashed™, by whom we mean people who, for very good reasons, have better things to do with their lives than mainlining news and politics like us sad sacks facepalming on the sidelines do, won’t in the slightest bit realize that they’re being lied to.
So you lose. By not engaging, you cede the battlefield and you lose by forfeit.
Do you think the leftists’ Great March Through the Institutions was so successfully accomplished by them sitting down passively, proclaiming that “those capitalist yapping dog lackeys are so obviously wrong that there is no need for us to engage”? Of course you don’t, because you know they didn’t. And you have got to keep in mind that for the True Believer in Leftism, up is down, left is right and capitalism is self-evidently, totally wrong. So they would, by your reasoning, have no reason to engage.
Ideological battles aren’t won by being right. They’re won by convincing the Great Unwashed that you’re right, and it doesn’t make a lick of difference whether you are right or not. If you’re the only one fighting, you’ll win. Period. End. Stop.
Second: “I dislike the tit-for-tat stories anyway. The fact that the media and the left are obsessed with race does not mean the rest of us must be.”
We dislike it too, but you’re completely wrong on the second sentence. As a matter of fact, you couldn’t possibly be any more wrong if you tried. The very fact that they are obsessed with race means that we have to be obsessed with it too. Not race, but the subject of whether race matters or not.
Spoiler: It doesn’t. Culture does. Race, on the other hand, does not. There is nothing in our genes that code for being as asshat.
But you can’t engage in that battle by saying “race doesn’t matter (true), so I’ll just refuse to talk about it at all (dumb).”
You just walked off the battlefield, and it really doesn’t matter one little bit how good you feel about yourself for not having gotten down in the gutter to engage the bastards, you still lost.
We’ll make it simple for you: The leftists are saying “only whites are racists, and everything they do is motivated by racism.” This is, of course, a load of horseshit. On both counts. To counter the second part is difficult, even though it’s untrue, since it requires the ability to not only read minds but to record what’s going on inside them. The first part, on the other hand, is not difficult. All it requires is to report on examples of non-whites engaging in the exact same acts that, when committed by whites, are called “racist.” Which they sometimes are, because whites are just as capable of being utter troglodytes as any other race is. Again, there’s no gene encoding for that.
It helps that counter-argument a great deal when, as was the case in the Chris Dale murder that you “nobly” refused to report on, at least one of the perpetrators were documented as stating that “all whites are nasty” and that he “hates them.” Unlike the Zimmerman case, where Zimmerman, who was not your traditional “white person” if you absolutely must talk about blood lines, was most noted for being the only “white” person in the neighborhood, actually the only person regardless of skin color, who’d stand up for minorities because, well, they’re human beings. Imagine that.
But by refusing to report on it, you leave the battlefield in the hands of the leftists.
Third, and last: “And there is the very real danger that in trying to demonstrate the hypocrisy of race-mongers like Al Sharpton and the journalists who follow eagerly in their wake, focusing on the race of perpetrators and victims ends up emphasizing stereotypes and inflaming passions–quite independently of the argument at hand.”
Oh yes. There is a real danger that some individuals with a number of chromosomes other than that of normal human beings might react violently to such reporting and assume, wrongly, that because a black person murdered a white person out of boredom/idiocy/hatred of whiteys, all black people are murderous thugs who need to be put down. We despise those dimwits as much as you do.
What we don’t quite understand is how you’re willing to abandon a battlefield in which the Obamas/Sharptons/Jacksons of the world are claiming that whites are like that and thus letting them win by default.
Yes, you do have a huge responsibility as a reporter to make abundantly clear that you’re not saying “those blacks are evil scumbags who deserve to die (true), so everybody who looks like them need to die also (Adolf Hitler level wrong)”, but are instead saying “look, you’ve been told that whites are racists and that only they can be racists, but here’s an example of why at least the second part of that load of crock is self-evident bullshit.” If you can’t handle that responsibility, then find something else to do.
And if you think that whites are inherently more likely to get the wrong impression from you reporting the facts? Well, then you might just be a racist.
You can’t win a battle if your default strategy is “I’ll do anything to win, as long as there is not the slightest possibility that I might get my hands dirty.”
You’ll lose. And we can guarantee it if you’re fighting leftists, because they don’t mind in the least bit.
They’ve murdered well over 100,000,000 people last count without a second wasted on introspection.
They don’t care. And if it wasn’t because I myself had woken up, thank G-d, I would have phrased it differently. I would have said: We don’t care. As long as you cowards keep running and pissing yourselves, we’re winning.
You can take that to the bank. I was one of them.
