And a Prayer Request For One of Our Oldest Sisters of the Rott, Beth

Also known among the Old Guard as our very old friend Delftsman’s significant other. A wonderful woman who was just admitted with mini-clots and abscesses in her brain.

To call finding that sort of thing on your CT scary would be an understatement so gross that even I won’t use it.

So if you have a favorite deity or even just some happy thoughts you can offer up for Beth and Delfts, they would be much appreciated.

As to myself, I humbly ask my Heavenly Father, my beloved and benevolent G-d, to reach out and offer strength and healing to my brother and sister and to guide the hands and minds of those entrusted with her care.

In the name of Jesus Christ.

Oh Lord, You are good to those who seek you, those who revere your name. You, who are the only source of health and healing, the spirit of calm and the central peace of this universe, grant to Beth such a consciousness of your indwelling and surrounding presence that she may permit you to give her health and strength and peace, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thank you all for your support and prayers, it means the world to both Beth and me.

I talked to her Oncologist this afternoon, and he informed me that it will be about a week before we know if she has sustained any permanent brain damage; they believe that the chemo treatment lowered her immune system and allowed a very virulent infection to take hold and caused both mini clots and abcesses to form in her brain and several venous clots in her left leg; they are treating the problem with a broad spectrum antibiotic and blood thinners.

She still recognizes me and our family members, but she has great difficulty in forming cognizent sentences. She’s essentially “at home” but gets extremely frustrated that she can’t communicate her thoughts and wishes with any great degree of success. At times she can’t understand a simple question. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have such great friends here at the Rott. You all are a great comfort to me, and I want you all to know just how much I appreciate every single one of you.

When I smashed my head, I did some damage. I had to learn how to talk coherently again, and there are still times when I need things repeated occasionally.

The key to making it work is to if at all possible, relax. Yah, I know, that’s a really tall order. But just kinda ‘letting go’ seems to help.

Don’t know what happened to my previous comment but know my prayers are for you, Beth and her family.

Delfts, you and Beth, my Aggie counterpart, are both in my prayers. I hope and pray for the best, and for strength and comfort for you both.
