Economic Idiocy On Display

In the Peepuls Republik of Kaliforniastan™ of course. California City to Buy Chinese Electric Buses Financed by Taxpayers.. The City of Long Beach Transit Authority decides naturally to go green and buys 10 electric buses from the Chinese for a whopping $12 million fleeced from the local taxpayers. $1.2 million dollars….each….that is one pricey bus that will never pay for itself but hey, the progressives shits in LB can feel so good about themselves watching those babies roll by. What? You really don’t think they would even consider, let alone, actually ride transportation for the proletariat do you? The problem is there is no such thing as a green vehicle using the left’s own definition of what’s good for Gaia and the little peoples. Those buses are coal-fired buses period. Considering somewhere on the order of 80% of our domestic power capacity is from coal-fired generation the ‘green’ buses aren’t that much green.

The buses require the city to build a $2 million recharge facility according to the article as well, not mentioned is the rest of the maintenance that probably requires a different set of skills than the average mechanic may have and there goes the local government payroll up hiring new people. The list of issues cited in the article make it almost certain the taxpayers will be in for a major fucking on this whole masturbatory moronicalness.

Of course, the whole deal hinged on the city getting an 80% cost U.S. gubmint subsidy and that is where the economic stupidity comes in.

Let’s step through this, we borrow money from the Chinese to subsidize purchasing of THEIR products, meanwhile paying loan-shark interest on the loan that we just gave back to them in trade. The tone of the story sounds like the US manufacturers are really pissed that the contract went to this untried in the US company, BYD. The taxpayers should be as well, I’ve had enough of this red shit wrapped and spoon fed to the public as ‘green’. The Ogabe administration has brought the cockroaches out of the woodwork lining up to fleece the taxpayers at the false altar of Environmentalism. The lunacy of the current electric vehicle craze seems to know no boundaries. I just grit my teeth at the cartoon one where the driver gets home and plugs his house into the car, as if the vehicle itself is a net generator of power. I have nothing against electric vehicles mind you, however it must be understood that calling them green is an engineering fallacy. Unfortunately way too few of our fellow citizens realize this nonsense. Electrical power is still produced pretty much by brute force. Large, heavy, expensive and complex equipment is involved and large scale motive forces (hydro, gas, coal, nuclear, etc) are still needed to spin-up those generators.

The left just loves to obfuscate and ‘solve’ problems merely by moving their point of impact out of sight.

$14 million pissed away and they feeeeellllll so good about being environmentally conscious. Oh and lest I forget, the meme about emission-free electric vehicles is bullshit too. Electric motors produce ozone, lots of ozone at that. Last I looked that was on the “Not-Cool” list of the greenies too or was that last week?
