Remember America That Was?

Yeah, we do too. Pity we don’t live there anymore (h/t LC Gladiator):In its latest effort to protect followers of Islam in the U.S. the Obama Justice Department warns against using social media to spread information considered inflammatory against Muslims, threatening that it could constitute a violation of civil rights.

[...]

The area’s [eastern TN -- Ed.] top federal prosecutor, Bill Killian, will address a topic that most Americans are likely unfamiliar with, even those well versed on the Constitution; that federal civil rights laws can actually be violated by those who post inflammatory documents aimed at Muslims on social media. “This is an educational effort with civil rights laws as they play into freedom of religion and exercising freedom of religion,” Killian says in the local news story. “This is also to inform the public what federal laws are in effect and what the consequences are.”

Herr Sturmbannführer Killian also goes on to talk about “Christians are doing it too!”, bringing up the same tired lies that objectively pro-terrorist douchenozzles always do, which is to say Timothy “Self Declared Agnostic [Not a Christian -- Ed.] McVeigh and whoever the fuck it was what shot up a Sikh temple years ago, the Nazi, Hitler-worshipping fuck [Hitler: Not a Christian -- Ed.]

Can’t really blame Herr Sturmbannführer Killian, though. After all, it was his very own Führer who once said:

“The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam”

AG Heinrich Holder could not be reached for comment as Heinrich Holder is currently busy investigating whether Heinrich Holder did anything wrong, which he already told us that he didn’t, so shut up, wingnuts!

Tick, tock, tick, tock…

Thatisall.

I have fought and SEEN personally what this cult is about….NOT ON MY WATCH!!!

My only issue is my confirmed kill number is not a prime number….just a pet peeve of mine.

I seem to remember when the looney left was all up in arms about freedom of speech when the “Ditzy Chicks” were on their world wide Bush-Bashing tour and private citizens and radio stations were boycotting them.

Not so much of an issue now.

If standards are good, then double standards must be better!;)

(Disregard the fact that the 1st amendment rights of the Ditzy Chicks were NOT being violated, as there was no government interference, only the reactions of private entities and individuals. Whereas this Eichman wannabe is promoting the government intimidation/prosecution of political speech, which is pretty much the definition of violating the 1st amendment.)

Political Correctness is Intellectual Fascism… Now even better with Federal Government Enforcement!!! :em06:

Do I need to hold my breath to see if they will apply the same standard to Christian haters?

oh, and imams holder and napolitano?……

    death to Islam…….

This idiot Killian seems to have forgotten that he is in eastern Tennessee. Outside of Texas, it might be difficult to select a location likely to be less hospitable to this idea. One of the less-progressively-intellectual-folks the region is known for might get it in their head that around his neck would be a good place to store a piece of unused piano wire.

Until such time as the religious leadership of the Islamic faith here and abroad begin loudly denouncing and condemning the acts of outrageous violence committed in the name of Islam and excommunicating the practitioners and their radical leaders, Americans of any political party would do well to remain suspicious of the intentions of Islamic organizations within our borders. We should demand that our government act accordingly. There is plenty of room within this caution for Americans to be fair to individual Muslims, but only a fool would make a policy of appeasement under these circumstances.

I almost wish the fools would try poisecutin’ me, but I don’t trash Islam, nor is it my policy to ridicule any anciently-recognized prophets. I consider myself a little better-informed on the subject than the masses, in fact, thanks in part to my family history. Our nation has a tradition which allows equal-opportunity trashing. You don’t like what people say? Tough Fine–counter it with your own speech! The Constitution forbids any establishment of religion. Got that, Erich Heiler? Read it again. Read the Law. I’d guess you’re in enough trouble already. As for Sturmbannführer Killingem: I blow my nose at you & call your speech-suppressing request a silly thing! :em07:

    Fa Cube,

I HAVE done something about the line crossed by my exercise of free speech. If you mean what will I do if faced with .gov goons wanting to further breach my Constitutional rights, I suppose that depends in large part upon their behavior. For now, what some would call “civil disobedience” will do, and I will continue to do so.

The REAL question is, Do YOU?

I’m sorry, but I have finally come to the conclusion that those who didn’t actually ORIGINATE here, really have no fucking business telling those of us who have been here for almost seventy years WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY.

Here is a clue: people like you left a country that you felt was heading in the wrong direction, yes? You come here, only to find that it isn’t quite the “leave me the fuck alone” kind of country that you though it would be. Right?

So now you think you feel that this is the perfect opportunity to make the kind of changes that you thought your perfect country should be?

Why in the fuck didn’t you just change the place you came from, instead of trying to change what WE have had here for so long?

I am getting really tired of people coming from other places in the world and telling me that WE need to change. GET A FUCKING GRIP. Go back and change YOUR fucking world if you are so unhappy with it. Quit trying to change the world that WE have. here.

Yeah, I know, your Gawd, Ronald Reagan, made a lot of sense to you. But history is fast becoming a witness to how fucked up he really was. You might not want to see it now, but in five years, maybe ten, you will certainly see his policies for what they really were — complete failure.

I know that what I am about to say is heretical, but one thing that I have been noticing here is the fact that most people who come here from the former Soviet Bloc during the Reagan years seem to be the ones who are the most unhappy with who we are today.

The way I see it, if you are so fucking unhappy, then go the fuck back from whence you came. Change THAT country if you must. Buf for goodness sake quit bitching about the country that was good enough to take you in with open arms.

There. I have finally come out and said it.. Someone recently called me a “racist” for saying that I know a lot of former Soviet Bloc residents who spend much of their time complaining about the country that adopted them. A LOT of the people that came to mind come from this site. It doesn’t mean that I “hate” you or even “dislike” you, it is just an observation that I’ve made, given the interaction I’ve had over the past decade or so. Your opinions are yours, and you have every right to spout them as you see fit. The fact that I have the privilege to respond here on your site is great.. (at least until you find me to be too controversial to allow here any longer)

I think that the bottom line here has to be that SOME of us have been here for a long fucking time, and that we actually like the country that we once had — warts and all — and that people who have come here with some preconceived notions as to what they thought things were are actually night and day from reality.

Obama? A figurehead, just like his predecessor, and the one before him. CONGRESS still holds the power in this country — as they always have. The “government isn’t a “bad thing”,. because WE are that government. WE have the power to make changes, we just have to exercise it. (and recently, we have done a piss-poor job in exercising it)

Bottom line, become more active in choosing our government.. Quit just sitting on the sidelines and complaining about everything. Run for office if you want to make some localized changes. Who knows, you might even be a good Congress Critter..

But I am so fucking tired of hearing how “America use to be” from someone who really doesn’t have a fucking clue as to what it ACTUALLY use to be like. Unlike MOST people here, I have been here for almost seventy years now. (just a few months away from that milestone) and I have a VIVID memory of what America is all about.

This concludes my rant of “America”, and what “it used to be”. I was there, I know it well.

Seriously, you really need to get your meds adjusted. I could go through a long-winded, bit by bit dissection of just how intensely deluded and counter-factual your entire screed was, but I’ll spare myself the waste of time.

But I’m really shocked, shocked I tell you at your jingoistic, xenophobic, close-minded and aggressive rejection of Change™ ;) I mean, isn’t the exact opposite what all of you terribly enlightened progressives are all about? I guess I must have missed that in your press releases :em05:

Yeah, I remember. Sad thing is I don’t have to go back but a few years to remember an America that hadn’t been “fundamentally transformed”, a vastly different place from the totalitarian dystopia that it is now, and if I go back another decade, it was even less “transformed” and even more different still. Yes, I was there. So no, I really don’t need to go back all that far.

But please, DO tell me about that America of 70 years ago, that would have been the mid-40s, right?, where everything was tightly controlled by a central federal government, where nationalized healthcare was the law of the land, where murderers couldn’t be executed because it was a “violation of human rights” but unborn children could be chopped up and vacuumed out on demand, when presidents violated the Constitution at will without consequences, when the press was even more one-sided and full of lies than Pravda and Izvestiya (and yes, I DO know a thing or two about those) ever were, where people didn’t dare speak out for fear that the para-military police forces would kick in their doors in the middle of the night and shoot whatever moved, where everything was regulated down to the kind of light bulb you could screw into a lamp, when “freedom of speech” meant “freedom to use the speech that the ruling junta approved of”… I could go on. Please teach this poor dumb foreigner about that utopian America that was in no way different from what we have now, the wonderful paradise that us ig’nant inostrantsiy have the nerve, the NERVE to come here and want to change.

Do tell. It ought to be immensely educational.

And while you’re at it, please teach us about that horrible failure that was Reagan too. Well no, you don’t actually have to. We learned that already. From people who aren’t around anymore because he failed them right out of existence.

Of all of the dumb things you’ve ever posted, this has to be the dumbest.

Seriously, man, you need an intervention. :)

Oh, and lest I forget: If the whole problem here is just us horribly subversive, un-American foreigners who have actually been down the dusty and bloodied road of Hope and Change™ and who actually know where it ends, then it’s really not much more than a silly nuisance, is it?

After all, how many of us evil foreign spy Enemies of The People™ are there in this country?

I’m willing to bet you that we aren’t that many, so just calm down, why don’t you? Since we’re all of us so self-evidently wrong, we’re just wasting our breath and hey, letting idiots make fools of themselves in public is what freedom of speech is all about, isn’t it?

What are you worried about? It’s just a gaggle of idiotic Volksfremder making a bit of noise when everybody who is a REAL American knows already that we’re full of shit and that the REAL America is all ABOUT the Hope and the Change™, so just point fingers and laugh at us because we’re every bit as much doomed to failure as Ronald Reagan, Lech Walesa, Pope Paul, Margaret Thatcher and all of those other counter-revolutionaries were.

OK, I can’t do this anymore, I have to stop because I’m laughing so damned hard I can’t hardly type.

Unfortunately, if no one joins you (or me, or anyone else) in your/their/our stand, it doesn’t mean a damned thing. It’s effectively masturbation – it feels good enough (Look at me! I’m principled!), but it doesn’t create anything. It’s not an indictment against you (or anyone else, really) – each person only does what they can at any given moment, and most of us are pretty powerless on an individual level. The problem is that for the last 80 years or more, the resistance to statist overreach has *stayed* at the individual level. There is no weight to it, and thus, there are no consequences to the statists – it’s a gnat bite on an Argentinosaurus.

Somehow, there has to be a way to channel the individual stands into something with some heft. The only way to stop the statists will be to change for lone gnats into a swarm of army ants – they’re not terribly tough at an individual level either, but en masse? They can shred just about anything.
