No, I’m Not Dead Yet
“I feel better” /montypython
Actually, I do. It’s just the post-bug weariness/fatigue/notgiveashit syndrome. I’m very sorry that I’ve been away from the keyboard for so long and I appreciate both the efforts of the Imperial Staff and the loyalty of you fine LCs and other good sorts.
Now, back to trying to get caught up, but I have a feeling that I’ll be back in form before very long.
Once again, thanks for your concerns and your loyalty.

O my Emperor, and O the Delight of my Monitor,
SO glad to hear you’re still around!!! You gave us a good scare!
Carnal Flu is a real bummer. My brother inlaw is getting over it as well.

A tablespoon of Apple Cider vinegar, a tablespoon of raw honey and a teaspoon of cinnamon. Take that three times a day and you’ll be back to your old crotchety self. Glad you’re feeling better.

Emperor,
Lemme get out my script pad and I’ll fix ya right up.
There.
You’ll be fine in a day or two.
(Glad you’re feeling better, my friend!)
Here, this will cheer you up. Some black comedy gold!
This is HILARIOUS and INFURIATING:

The journos who “outed” all those NY gun owners? they are here caught on videotape REFUSING to put a sign on their lawn saying “This Is a Proudly Gun-Free Zone!”
So they DO know that homeowners’ guns prevent crime. Bastards.

I just got back from my local happy place. (New gun store)
Bought three 30rd AR mags
Looked at something in a .45 for concealed carry.
I also contacted a local range regarding training for home defense and concealed carry.
I’ve been told it’s only $10 for a resident in my state and I just need to show up with the form.

Welcome back your highness. The excrement is about to hit the rotating oscillator.
As Mike Hendrix is fond of saying… “gird your loins”
Of course you’re not dead, Sire….you posted. I’ve had a bad case of flu only once, missed two days of work. It sucked, worried about my wife and daughter getting it. No doubt you felt uttterly wretched.
I know it’s another thread, but Happy Birthday anyway. At least you don’t lose count, or mercifully forget….yet.
And yes, the world is getting very dicey at present.
If you need to rehydrate…take Powerade/Gatorade and cut it in half with water. (The body can only absorb about 10% Glucose and those drinks are about 15-20%.)

Glad to have you back, Boss. It is a lot easier to fight from the front of the foxhole when the heavy stuff is going downrange over our heads from time to time.

I’m usually not one to cross-post, but, ummm….
Suggestion: Dress around your chosen piece, don’t choose your piece around the way you dress. Too many people get all excited about the latest subcompact when they should be thinking about how to conceal a full-size sidearm that’s controllable, reliable, has a good sight radius and they can shoot well.
Of course, since you’re in .45 territory, you’re off to a good start.
Thank goodness!

Amen! And y’all really need to read the article at that link, some sound advice.

Oh I’m months away from making that purchase. During the winter, I can carry my Barrett quite easily in my coat pocket if I want. The first thing I want to do is take as many classes as I can to really learn both the laws and how to fire accurately.
As to the 30 round Standard size magazines for the Armalite Rifle based designs, (I.E. The Stoner masterpiece), they are a touch pricy, but they had plenty in stock. I now have 7 magazines and if that Bushnell order is ever filled, will have 15 total.
I did handle a .45 Glock. I’ll be honest, I didn’t like the feel in my hand and I’m biased against hammerless pistols. I did see a compact version of the M1911 from Rock Island on Youtube, but need to do lots more research.

Oh, another thing. Anyone going to the state capital rallies this weekend? We have one in NH and perhaps 3-400 are known to be going. Need more everywhere.

(Although in Albany NY, they should be carrying their now outlawed guns and lots of ammo)

I tip my hat to you, sir. Well done on all counts.
I’m no Glockenspieler, but I will point out that John Moses (pbuh) designed a number of successful striker-fired pistols. His original plans for the Hi-Power were for a hammerless pistol, but Saive redesigned it to incorporate a hammer, some say on the demands of the French military.
Saive went on to give us the FN49 and FAL, the French never adopted the Hi-Power (though both sides used it in WW2) and Browning’s final masterpiece was changed radically from what he’d intended and went on to become one of the most prolific handguns in history.
(I’m not sure what you’re supposed to learn from all that, but my wife doesn’t call me The King of Useless Crap for nothing.)
Well it’s going to be a few months in any case. I also want to try out a few to see what I like, and right now I’m learning about the various holsters available. (I rather like Hickock45 on Youtube)

Rock Island makes a damn fine firearm. You’d be well served with one or more of those. Remember, the 1911 is God’s gift to man through his prophet John MOSES Browning.

Personal preference.
It’s “tuckable” so it conceals under almost everything, has interchangeable Kydex bodies (allows you to accommodate different pistols) and the J-clips are replaceable. It’s also comfortable.
Most importantly, they included a roll of Smarties when I bought accessories. (Galco and Bianchi never did that…)
(Tip: You can always tuck your shirt under a “tuckable” holster or leave it untucked and wear it as a a traditional inside-the-waistband for easier access.)
LC Moriarty, Imperial Goatherd @ #:
I saw that earlier during my research. I will have to try them once I select a pistol for carry. Right now, I have a Beretta M9 style and that’s like hauling around a howitzer. I only got it originally because it was:
A) My first pistol (20+ years ago)
B) easy to disassemble and clean
C) 15rd magazines, (Which I can’t get at the moment. Sold out)
D) A safety system that seemed better to me at the time considering my inexperience.

And on another note, it looks like Obama’s EO’s are being laughed at as a complete waste of time and ink. From what I’ve been reading, he wanted to order a confiscation, but Reid told him that was a non-starter and that there is no way anything is going to make it through the senate, never mind the house.
Apparently, the idea was to demonize the NRA and get people to resign their membership. That appears to have backfired…slightly.
And I think the NRA has decided that it’s time to consider other things besides a candidates record on 2nd Amendment issues. It looks like they plan or planned to go after every democrat up for reelection next year.
angrywebmaster recently posted..Pravda: America, Never give up your guns!
A bit of a chunky piece and harder to conceal, but not a bad pistol overall.
A good friend of mine had a.44 Deagle on his CCW permit back when we still had to list guns. He wore it under his jacket in a shoulder rig when he’d dirt bike.
True grit.
It is no secret I am biased toward HKs USPs, USP compacts and my Kimber.
For a carry piece, find one that fits your hand like a glove. It is an extension of you. Close your eyes and point it towards a target. If your site picture is right, the weapons for you!!

The Kimber is on my list. I’ve had the chance to hold a Ruger P345 for a few minutes and it felt very nice in my hand.

Of course, when I went back to the store for other business, it had been sold.
There’s a range in Manchester NH that also rents guns. I’m trying to get some lessons on pistol handling. I’ve just taken the basic course, primarily for the safety aspect. My primary problem is finding a range where I can break in my brand new EBR. (Now with 7 Evil High Capacity Magazines)

As a hard-boiled 1911, American gun fanatic since the 1970s, I hesitate to admit: A little Hungarian has found her way into my life. (No, not the proprietary one. The exact BHP clone.)
It’s about half the price of a Browning, but all parts interchange and we’re talking about a pistol that’s been carried by over 50 nations in peacetime and multiple wars. With a little looking, you can still find standard capacity mags. (Not that 13 vs 10 rounds is all that big a deal IMHO.) A hell of a lot of ink has been spilled over the 9mm/.45 “controversy” but in recent years, I consider it resolved:

Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the White House.
One is from Chicago, another is from Alabama, and the third is from New Jersey. All three go with a White House official to examine the fence.
The New Jersey contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil.
“Well,” he says, “I figure the job will run about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit for me.”
The Alabama contractor also does some measuring and figuring, and then says, “I can do this job for $700. $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me.”
The Chicago contractor doesn’t measure or figure but leans over to the White House official and whispers, “$2,700.”
The official, incredulous, says, “You didn’t even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?”
The Chicago contractor whispers back, “$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and we hire the guy from Alabama to fix the fence.”
“Done!” replies the government official.
And that is how the stimulus plan works!
