Alvie over at The Cliffs of Insanity nails it:

Yeah, it might look that way. But the truth is that the “recommendations” are already developed. Remember my theme; Outcomes are determined before the game begins. For those powerful enough, the game is never allowed to begin unless the outcome is already known. The purpose of these meetings is therefore not a “listening tour” to see what everyone says, but a meeting to dictate to the stakeholders what those outcomes will be, what the proper place of each of those stakeholders is in the new reality, and what they’ll have to give up.

Forget about what happens now in DC.  Gather your like minded neighbors and friends, prepare and figure out who will back you and, more importantly, who the Quislings are.  They’re your greatest threat now.

Can’t happen here they say, ask the Japs on the left coast in ’42. 100,000 just rounded up and sent off to interment (concentration) camps by executive decree. Just a reminder that the Warsaw ghetto Jews held off the nazi’s for two years with a few guns and determination before being over run. If I was Jewish I would have battery of arms and supplies to stave of a small army. I would not allow one transgression. There would be no fall back, no surrender, we’ll give you this if you leave us alone this once. All despotic power understands is power and Mao said power comes out of the barrel of a gun. I say about a million of us take our guns and go visit DC. Why in the fuck should I wait around for them to come for me? Im not advocating violent acts here more of a “demonstration of power”. They play XO games with this legislative issue and the only thing that will change it will be a bunch of pissed off people on the door step with guns saying “I don’t think so, maybe you should reconsider your position.” Shit, even a couple hundred thousand with guns would get their attention. I also think this approach would present a faster less damaging solution overall. Whats another scenario? A bunch of “Police killed today by gun yielding man.” stories in the media who conveniently leave out the fact that the “man” was at home resisting gun confiscation. How many “incidents” would it take before there was solution? Fuck that shit. If there isnt a firm automatic response put in place and enacted its all over but the crying. A XO on the 2nd Amendment of our BILL OF RIGHTS is unfuckingacceptable and will not be tolerated.

I cant believe they would openly consider this approach, this kinda maneuver is the equivalent of talking smack before a fight. Doing the research the N.Y. Times won’t do

In Sunday’s New York Times, Elisabeth Rosenthal claimed, as the title of her article put it, “More Guns = More Killing.” She based this on evidence that would never be permitted in any other context at the Times: 1) anecdotal observations; and 2) bald assertions of an activist, blandly repeated with absolutely no independent fact-checking by the Times.

There is an academic, peer-reviewed, long-term study of the effect of various public policies on public, multiple shootings in all 50 states over a 20-year period performed by renowned economists at the University of Chicago and Yale, William Landes and John Lott. It concluded that the only policy to reduce the incidence of, and casualties from, mass shootings are concealed-carry laws. The Times will never mention this study.

They do get it. Everyone gets it. It is impossible for them to not understand what the response will be, and what is at stake. They really think this time they have it all accounted for. This time they will win. They want to bring about the conflict. They want the crisis, and they will respond to the crisis, and they think they can win the political battle, and they think they beat/eliminate the resistance, too.

They may be able to pull it off. I wouldn’t bet on it, but it is certainly possible. Things have not been this dark in probably 1000 years. We’re on the cusp of something huge. I think this will be the biggest, and possibly the last test of mankind. We either win the day, and Freedom reigns for a thousand years, or we lose, and Freedom dies for a thousand years.

In 1860, per the last United States Census before the War Between the States, only 2% of all Southerners owned slaves. Two percent.

    Ninety-eight percent did not.

But they didn’t like being pushed around.

I agree with General Longstreet, who said, “We should have freed the slaves, and THEN fired on Fort Sumter!” ;-)

[Footnote: in 1860, the average annual cash income for the Southern yeoman farmer (who owned a family farm) was $50. Fifty. The average purchase price for a young field hand in good health was $800. A skilled man like a carpenter or bricklayer would run you about $1500. Even a toothless old "auntie" would cost about $200. Then you had to clothe, feed, and house them. IOW: Slavery was a rich man's game.]

As far as the fuckwad in the White House is concerned, he knows that there’s no one in a position of any power who has the balls to deal with him effectively, and the “press” are french-kissing his butt.

So, they first force everyone to register their guns, then they order everyone to turn them in on pain of arrest or huge fines. They will also institute serious rewards for rats everywhere to rat out any armed citizens. And come after the resistors with SWAT teams in the end. Like they did in Waco, Texas.

Koresh was a polygamist, certainly, and very possibly a child molester (hey, just the Grauniad’s type!). But the ATF had no LEGAL reason behind making a “drugs and guns” raid on the compound. Read the account here, to give you an idea of how the shit will go down. [Yeah, I know it's Wikipedia, but it seems to be a thorough account.]

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waco_siege

Koresh and his followers were accused of stockpiling illegal weapons. … The documentary “Inside Waco” claims that the investigation started when in 1992 the ATF became concerned over reports of automatic gunfire coming from the Carmel compound.[21] On July 30, 1992, ATF agents David Aguilera and Skinner visited the Davidians’ gun dealer, Henry McMahon, who tried to get them to talk with Koresh on the phone. Koresh offered to let ATF inspect the Davidians’ weapons and paperwork and asked to speak with Aguilera [ATF honcho], but Aguilera declined.[22][23] Sheriff Harwell told reporters regarding law enforcement talking with Koresh, “Just go out and talk to them, what’s wrong with notifying them?”[24]

The ATF began surveillance from a house across the road from the compound several months before the siege. …

Former Davidian Marc Breault claimed that Koresh had “M16 lower receiver parts”[15] (combining M16 trigger components with a modified AR-15 lower receiver possibly constitutes the manufacture of a firearm that would be classified as a machine gun;[26] the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986 outlawed civilian ownership of any newly manufactured machine guns manufactured after the date of enactment[27]).

According to the Affidavit presented by ATF investigator David Aguilera to U.S. Magistrate Dennis G. Green on February 25, 1993, the Branch Davidian gun business (the “Mag Bag”, Route 7, Box 555-B, Waco, Texas, 76705, located on Farm Road number 2491), had purchased many legal guns and gun parts from various legal vendors (such as 45 semi-automatic AR-15 lower receivers from Olympic Arms). Deliveries by UPS for the “Mag Bag” were accepted and paid for at Mount Carmel Center by Woodrow Kendrick, Paul Fatta, David Koresh or Steve Schneider.

These purchases were traced by Aguilera through the normal channels used to track legal firearms purchases from legal vendors. None of the weapons and firearms were illegally obtained nor illegally owned by the “Mag Bag”; however, Aguilera affirmed to the judge that in his experience, in the past other purchasers of such legal gun parts had modified them to make illegal firearms. The search warrant was justified NOT on the basis there was proof that the Davidians had purchased anything illegal, but on the basis that they COULD be modifying legal arms to illegal arms, and that automatic weapon fire had been reported on the compound.[28]

When the reports of automatic fire were first received, Steve Schneider and David Koresh showed[citation needed] the County Sheriff’s Department a “Hellfire” device, a quick-firing trigger sold with an ATF letter certifying that the device was not a machine gun.

The affidavit of ATF investigator David Aguilera for the search warrant claimed that there were over 150 weapons and 8,100 rounds of ammunition in the compound. The paperwork on the AR-15 components cited in the affidavit showed they were in fact legal semi-automatics; however, Aguilera told the judge: “I know based on my training and experience that an AR-15 is a semi-automatic rifle practically identical to the M-16 rifle. [...] I have been involved in many cases where defendants, following a relatively simple process, convert AR-15 semi-automatic rifles to fully automatic rifles of the nature of the M-16. [...] Often times templates, milling machines, lathes and instruction guides are used by the converter.”[29]

Aguilera stated in the affidavit and later testified at trial that a neighbor had heard machine-gun fire. However, Aguilera failed to tell the magistrate that the same neighbor had previously reported the noise to the local Waco sheriff, who investigated the neighbor’s complaint. Paul Fatta, who was also involved in the failed takeover of the group in 1987, told “The New York Times” that Koresh and he had visited the sheriff after the surveillance had been spotted and claimed that the sheriff’s office told them their guns were legal.[30]

    And then:

Using the affidavit filed by Aguilera, alleging that the Davidians had violated federal law, the ATF obtained search and arrest warrants for Koresh and specific followers on weapons charges due to the many firearms they had accumulated … ATF made a claim that David Koresh was operating a methamphetamine lab, in order to establish a drug nexus and obtain military assets under the War on Drugs. However, the evidence was stale, partly based on an unreliable “hot spot” detected by infrared radar, partly based on disgruntled ex-members who had left six years earlier, and it ignored all the evidence that the lab had been dismantled by Koresh when he took charge and had been given to the Sheriff for destruction.[32][33]

    The first assault:

It is not known who fired the first shots, but each side later claimed it had been the other.[21] ATF agents stated they heard shots coming from within the compound, while Branch Davidian survivors claimed that the first shots came from the ATF agents outside. A suggested reason may have been an accidental discharge of a weapon, possibly by an ATF agent, causing the ATF to respond with fire from automatic weapons.[41] Other reports claim the first shots were fired by the ATF “dog team” sent to kill the dogs in the Davidian kennel.[42]

Three Army helicopters were used as aerial distraction and all took incoming fire, but they did not return any shots[43] (author Carol Moore points out some evidence to the contrary).[44] During the first shots, Koresh was wounded, shot in the wrist.[45] Within a minute of the raid starting, Davidian Wayne Martin called 911 emergency services, pleading for them to stop shooting. The resident asked for a ceasefire, and audiotapes record him saying, “Here they come again!” and, “That’s them shooting! That’s not us!”

    EQUIPMENT AND MANPOWER

The ATF knew that the Branch Davidians had a pair of .50 caliber rifles, so they asked for Bradley armored vehicles, which could resist that caliber.[95] During the siege, Koresh said that he had weapons bigger than .50 rifles and that he could destroy the Bradleys, so they were supplemented with two M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks and five M728 Combat Engineer Vehicles.[95][96]

    Government agencies

    1ST Raid (February 28):
    75 ATF agents;
3 helicopters manned by 10 Texas National Guard counter-drug personnel as distraction during the raid and filming.[83][97]
Ballistic protection equipment, fire retardant clothing, regular flashlights, regular cameras (i.e. flash photography), shotguns and flashbang grenades,[98] 9mm handguns, 9mm MP5 submachine guns, .223 AR-15 rifles, a .308 bolt-action sniper rifle.[99]

Siege (March 1 through April 18):
Hundreds of federal agents; 2 Bell UH-1 Iroquois helicopters.[100]

    Assault (April 19):
Hundreds of federal agents; military vehicles (with their normal weapon systems removed):
9-10 M3 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles,
4-5 M728 Combat Engineering Vehicles (CEVs) armed with CS gas,
    2 M1A1 Abrams tanks,
    1 M88 tank retriever.[97][100]

    Support:[97]
    1 Britten-Norman Defender surveillance aircraft;[101]
    a number of Texas National Guard personnel for maintenance of military vehicles and training on the use of the vehicles and their support vehicles (Humvees and flatbed trucks);
    surveillance from Texas National Guard counter-drug UC-26 surveillance aircraft and from Alabama National Guard;
    10 active-duty U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers as observers and trainers (also present during assault);
2 senior U.S. Army officers as advisers,
    2 members of the British Army’s 22nd Special Air Service (SAS) Regiment as observers;
    50+ men in total.[102]

Much more at the link, including a detailed account of the two battles. Sobering reading, but well worth the time if you want a “preview of coming attractions.” My takeaway — Koresh needed to be arrested, but not for guns and drug charges, which is all they had an arrest warrant for. [All the weapons at the compound were legally bought AND registered, and meticulous paperwork kept.] GIVEN THAT FACT, they used insanely overwhelming force, including fucking TANKS, to go after a bunch of civilians, including a lot of women and children.

Waco dead: 80 civilians. Take note: this is how The State goes after any resisters.

Remember my theme; Outcomes are determined before the game begins. For those powerful enough, the game is never allowed to begin unless the outcome is already known.

Those who think this way cannot be experienced war fighters, or they’d recall that no battle plan survives first contact with the enemy. And those mere humans who think they can predict the future–well, they’ve obviously failed to learn from the past!

    LC Old Dog:

Our in-house Dorkwad or Progressive (BIRM) was discussing this today at lunch. When asked about Oath Keepers replied “Oh thats just for show, they will do their Duty!”.

Yeah, I wonder about that. The writeup at Cliffs reeked of pessimism. :em04: I’d guess it’s difficult to generalize with such massively insufficient data. I should interrogate my LEO bro when I get a chance, though–allowing for how this info will likely hold only for our Lesser White North.

Sometimes you just cannot argue with the numbers. If these numbers are correct and true, the USA has bigger problems on their hands other than who was elected President.

    From Bill O’Reilly’s message board:
Most everyone suspected fraud, but these numbers prove it and our government and media refuse to do anything about it.
As each state reported their final election details, the evidence of voter fraud is astounding. Massive voter fraud has been reported in areas of OH and FL, with PA, WI and VA, all are deploying personnel to investigate election results.
Here are just a few examples of what has surfaced with much more to come.
    * In 59 voting districts in the Philadelphia region, Obama
received 100% of the votes with not even a single vote recorded for Romney. (A mathematical and statistical impossibility).
    * In 21 districts in Wood County Ohio, Obama received 100% of
the votes where GOP inspectors were illegally removed from their polling locations – and not one single vote was recorded for Romney. (Another statistical impossibility).
    * In Wood County Ohio, 106,258 voted in a county with only
    98,213 eligible voters.
    * In St. Lucie County, FL, there were 175,574 registered
eligible voters but 247,713 votes were cast.
    * The National SEAL Museum, a polling location in St. Lucie
County, FL had a 158% voter turnout.
    * Palm Beach County, FL had a 141% voter turnout.
    * In Ohio County, Obama won by 108% of the total number of
    eligible voters.
NOTE: Obama won in every state that did not require a Photo ID and lost in every state that did require a Photo ID in order to vote. Imagine that!

The problem isn’t so much that we haven’t gotten over the Civil War. The trouble is that another Civil War seems to be brewing right now. We have a situation where the President and Congress have decided to ignore the Constitution and pretty much do whatever they like… so naturally we go back and look at the last time that sort of thing happened. There’s also a certain pride in the realization that flawed or not, the South decided to fight for its beliefs… and so did the North. History is a rather important hobby of mine, and I have a lot of respect for General Lee… but also for General Grant. Pride in the South doesn’t mean Hate for the North. Not these days, anyway (it might have in 1861, but that’s a different ball of wax). Political divides these days tend to be more Rural/Suburban/Urban these days rather than North/South anyway. It is simply a matter today of the fact that the South and the so-called “flyover” states are more rural in character. You will note that even in Texas, the Urban areas tend to go Left.

There are things we are ashamed of too. No Southerner I know or care to associate with would support slavery or Jim Crow. But there are things we are proud of too. My family has roots in Virginia dating back to Jamestown. I had ancestors in the Revolutionary War, ancestors who fought in the Civil War, and so yes, I have a measure of pride in that fact. That doesn’t mean I wake up every morning and pray to a Confederate Flag or some shit. Maybe some folks put a bumper sticker on the their truck, but it doesn’t mean they constantly think about it.

Oh and that bit about what the Muslim nations do… spend a few days on the Rott and see what we think of that sort of stupidity. Educated, decent Southern folk have some idea of the terrible price of slavery. A good number of the soldiers fighting across the world to bring an end to that sort of shit came from here.

People who stereotype other people on the basis of where they live are very stupid. For instance, John Edwards is a Southerner. Does that mean you’re like him? Or Bill Clinton?

Point me to where I said a damn thing about liking all Southerners. Oh, that’s right, you can’t. Nice strawman argument, eh? Look, I’ll spell it out for you anyway. Some folks in the South are assholes, you get douchebags in every part of the world and the South is no exception. There’s no stereotypical Southerner either, or if there is I haven’t met one. Hell, some of those assholes live in my neighborhood, and I’ve got a real beef with one who is best described as a Left-leaning, Prius-driving, Gun-fearing arrogant piece of shit who calls up the local HOA and county zoning folks like he was an informant for the Gestapo. Having “pride in the South” as a measure of respect for the place you fucking live in and the place where your family comes from… and liking everyone in it are two different things.

You seem to think the first Civil War is ancient history. It isn’t. I knew people who were alive during the war when I was little. My mother knew war veterans.
It takes generations to put the kind of devastation, both physical and mental, that was suffered by the South both during and after The War of Northern Aggression behind. When I was little the knowledge of the brutality of the yankee occupiers was still bitterly remembered by great grandparents, and the stories were passed down to the younger generations. My great grandmother was 5 yo when the war started; I was 10 when she died at age 110, and she remembered it and Reconstruction with a furious hatred for all yankees, especially Sherman (I was born and raised in Georgia).
Since you have such a problem with Southerners I hope you stay in yankeeland. We have enough problems with assholes that came from the north and fucked things up as it is.

With your posts on this subject taken as a whole you’re also exhibiting a typical yankee arrogant ignorance of slavery, the Confederacy, the War of Northern Aggression, and the modern South. There’s much more to the subject than the one dimensional history you were taught in yankee schools. (here’s a hint: slavery also existed in the north at the beginning of the war, and freed blacks were forbidden to enter many northern states)
And yes, we Southerners do consider this an important subject. Our ancestors and their homelands were ravaged and occupied by a brutal and merciless invader. To paraphrase the Jews, “Never forget, never again”.

just a little background on all this Civil War stuff.

There were very few (if any) Confederate line soldiers that owned slaves, like their Northern counterparts and I quote “they weren’t fighting for the darkies”. That’s their words not mine. Very few of the Confederate officers owned slaves, they were mostly career army and thus didn’t have a need for slaves.

True, Lincoln enacted the Emancipation Proclamation to justify the war as a war to abolish slavery but it was not popular among the rank and file of the Northern armies and desertions skyrocketed as a result of it….for the reason stated above. Both sides had larger issues that they fought the war over, most of them economically and politically based.

    HempRopeAndStreetlight says:

Oh… before you start… I was born in Idaho, and have lived in Wyoming and Montana my whole life. So I ain’t exactly a “neo-confederate” waving the Dixie-flag.

I’m a Westerner, Colorado born and raised. My ancestors homesteaded from Kansas and Illinois and the Isle of Man during the time of the war. I’ve been told that I had relatives in Kentucky that served in the CSA army but haven’t been able to track them down. I also have an ancestor that served in a Pensylvania battery at Gettysburg and mustered out in 1864 due to wounds received.

My stance on the war is this: I’m neutral in this conflict, I honor the soldiers and the sacrifices and causes of both side. I understand what BOTH sides were fighting for, and I can respect BOTH positions…..they each have their merits, the as have their flaws. I am glad that the North eventually won as I think we are better served as a nation with both northern states and southern states contributing to the greatness of this country. So, I’m not interested in fighting a 150 year old conflict anymore….we as Americans (northern and southern) have a bigger battle ahead of us…..we need to get past those old hatreds and look ahead towards the enemy that is gathering against us now.

I got just enough in food stamps to survive (I was 220 pounds and in excellent shape (the guys on my construction crew I worked with before I got hurt kept trying to get me to tryout for that all-new all-out type fighting) when I got hurt, and if it were not for not being able to excercise, I’d have lost weight at an alarming pace).

I still had my pickup truck but it hurt too badly to sit in it to drive, I couldn’t afford insurance nor gas for it, so when I did have to use it, it was for grocery shopping and back home.

For eight years I lived like a hermit. Very few of my friends could come visit me as they had their jobs and life and lived over 100 miles away.

Then one day a friend did stop by on his motorcycle. We stood there and talked for a short time until I told him I needed to sit down as standing more than a few minutes kills me. He told me to sit on his bike, so I straddled it (I used to ride and own bikes in my teen years and after I got out of the Navy in ’82). It was amazing the *lack* of as much pain as I was used to when it came to sitting on *anything*! I asked him if I could ride it up the street and back.

That was all she wrote. I got my mom to co-sign to get me a bike and I’ve had one for the past 4 years.

The point of all this? I had to sell many things to drum up the down payment scratch. This included selling my shorty AR15 (numbered 000600). It tore me up to do this, but as I said, I was desperate to be able to get out of the house once in a while to just go if I could afford the gas. The bike gets me 47mpg, so I can see friends once or twice every few months now, which is once or twice every three months I could see *anyone* before.

Yes, the bike payment eats a quarter of my disability check and my quarterly insurance is $65. I’ve, over the years (I’ve been disabled now for 13 years come mid February) learned how to be a mizer SoB and how I can walk that doesn’t hurt, all that stuff. I only eat my pain meds when the pain ghets too bad I can’t stand it anymore so I don’t become addicted and because I feel badly that the ‘working man’ is paying for them.

Out of all this though, I kept my trusty Colt 1991A1. The same one I constantly thought about sticking in my mouth for 3 and a half years. I go nowhere without it (I was attacked at the old house my dad was letting me stay in some years ago because I’d hollered at some kids in my yard to quit teasing my dogs. The father of one came and beat my ass good right there in my front yard. I wasn’t on the pain meds yet at that time so any small movement and I’d be in such agony it was insane, but I’d grit my teeth and tried to fight back. The law did absolutely nothing about it. Seriously. The cop did nothing, not even wrote a report). I wrote in another blog-type place, after seeing a half-hearted joke about seeing all of us that post in that blog in the future gulag, that the only way *anyone* gets my gun, is if they’re climbing over at *LEAST* one of their buddies who tried to carry out an anti-America law…*then* the PoS will have to pry it from my fingers. One has to be a fuckin’ pussy who won’t fight a government that’s going too far but *will* help enforce laws that deny us our rights.

Sorry that was so roundabout, but it needed the perspective of how I see things nowadays. No one, I mean that, no one will take my guns away from me for not breaking any laws of the Bill of Rights.

Oh…and I’m an atheist, heathen jew, btw. If the rest of the jews here in America (many being the children of camp survivors) want to keep being sheeple, then that’s their fucking problem. They’ll get absolutely no help from me!

Where did I say that you like all Southerners? I said that bit about Clinton and Edwards to prove my point about stereotyping – like when you condemned me for living in NY, and swept all of NY into one big shithole.

It’s called hyperbole. Get a clue. New York City is highly liberal, but many of the rural regions are quite conservative. Today’s divide is more Rural/Urban than North/South. But you know all that, I know that, and you know I know that. You’re trying an age-hold debate tactic wherein you intentionally interpret something seriously that should not be, and that marks you as a troll. A lot of folks, when debating, enjoy employing word-smithing games such as that. It doesn’t actually achieve anything. It’s more like literary masturbation than anything else.

So go ahead and spout all of your crap about “a house divided cannot stand” while the rest of us live in the real world, wherein there IS a divide already and the best thing we can discuss is what to do within that reality.

Those of you ganging up on Readerjp are directing your energies towards the wrong person. Cetera fired the Sumter shot with his Battle Hymn of the Republic, only to be directly answered by Fa Cube Itches. I’m not so sure that Cetera meant it as a slam towards southerners, but there is NO doubt about Fa Cube Itches’ intentions. That’s when Readerjp jumped in.

Don’t you just love analyzing posts and counter-posts in an 80+ reply thread? Blah. I don’t really care about the whole North/South thing, but readerjp did call the thunder down with his conservatives aren’t confederates, and his implications about slavery. I’ll grant there was provocation, but still. I don’t think anyone was advocating that sort of thing. But, this is the Rott, and people can and will say whatever they like ;).

Politics 150 years ago may have been polarized by North/South, but today they are Rural/Inner-City, with Suburbia as the No-Man’s Land. It just so happens the old North has an awful lot of Urban population. But that creeps into the South too, especially in places like Virginia. As an exercise in nightmarish prediction… imagine what a Civil War today would look like? Not pretty, that’s for sure. At least if the Civil War had ended the other way, we would have ended up with two more or less intact nation-states. One today would be an exercise in balkanization on an unprecedented scale.
