Mike M Funeral Arrangements Update

I’ve been advised that Mike M’s funeral will be held Thursday January 3rd. If there are any Rotties in the Portland area that would like to pay their respects please email me and I will provide you the location and time.

In lieu of flowers Mike’s wife has requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in his honor.

I’ve been thinking over the past days about what an impact Mike had on me, and on so many others, both directly and indirectly. I’m still at a loss for the proper words to do him the honor he deserves, and for that I apologize; to you, and to his family.

Maybe y’all can help me out a little. Words from Mike’s friends here would be a fitting tribute I think.

I don’t have your email, Crunchie. Please feel free to get it from Misha. If I can make it, I will.

I didn’t know Mike directly, didn’t know that he was facing such evil.

    Requiescant in pace.

Carry on Marine, for you have served you time in hell.

I’m annoyed. It sounds like I missed out on knowing a good man. This is most irritating.

As much as I’m not comfortable with bringing this up in a thread like this, I think it’s gotta be said.

I wouldn’t piss on WWP if they were on fire, and I’d just downed a case of beer. They’re anti-gun, and what do the bastards ‘running’ the WWP need with 400,000/year salaries? Also, their pass-through rating sucks balls.

Perhaps another alternative might be the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, which would be doubly appropriate for Mike M.

Thank you Rurik, that was exactly what I was going to suggest for those who did not wish to contribute to WWF.

I was unaware of the WWP issues. Still better than flowers.

Thanks for the updates. My dad had too many friends for me to keep track of.

Sadly, you are quite correct.. This is a process that seems to have happened all too often with charities. I used to be an enthusiastic supporter of Soldiers Angels. During the first years of the GWOT it was an extraordinary charity for supporting troops … back when it was run by Holly Aho and Patti Patton-Bader who were running everything personally. But then as their reputation spread and the organization grew, they fell into the hands of the the professional charity pimps, those lowlife schumering SOBs who put fundraising and further organizational empire growth ahead of the official mission. SA started wasting money on sending out fancy-shmancy challenge coins and appreciation certificates, and wasting postage on dunning letters to those who were turned off by the new strategy, and of course on salaries. I do not doubt that WWP also began as an honest and sincere organization, but was seduced by the trustifarian self-promoting, non-working, doo-gooders.

That is the sign of a life truly well lived, and doesn’t surprise me in the least.
