Darn’ Tootin’, Governor!

And another shout-out to the governor of the fine state in which we live, governor Perry, who knows what’s what and what works:

Perry drew a round of applause when he talked about Harrold, Texas, a community that lets teachers and administrators who are properly permitted and trained to carry weapons on campus.

He said he believes local school districts should be afforded that right, and he supports expanding the places guns can be carried.

“In the state of Texas, if you go through the process, have been trained, and you are a handgun-licensed individual, you should be able to carry a gun anywhere in the state,” Perry said.

We agree, completely.

Others across the country have called for mandatory arming of teachers, but we don’t believe that is the way to go.

To carry or not to carry is a personal decision, and whereas we certainly encourage more law-abiding citizens to do so and rejoice every time another one joins our ranks, we don’t believe the government has any more of an authority to force individuals to do so than they have the authority to take the right to do so away.

Having kids of our own who go to school, we certainly understand why some might insist that there was an armed presence there, but our proposal would then be to assign armed officers to those schools who choose not to “self-arm.” It doesn’t take many. Actually, all it takes is one. If the goblins out there knew that at least one armed individual was present at every school, schools would quickly disappear from their lists of places to commit mayhem.

Remember: Those animals are cowards of the worst kind. Any risk of resistance will make them piss their pants and run the other way.

End Gun Free Zones Unarmed Prey Zones once and for all and put the animals of our nation on notice that they will be shot and killed if they try to pull any shit. And then they’ll be shot again, just to make sure.

It is completely utterly fucking ridiculous that we, with data showing clearly that every single mass shooting but one (the Gabby Giffords shooting) was carried out in those Fish In A Barrel Zones, still have to debate whether or not they’re the problem, and we just flat out refuse to waste our time on idiots who still can’t and won’t see that.

When the correlation between two sets of data is not merely approaching unity, but has reached the point where correlation has built a house right on top of it, put in running water and electricity, started paying property taxes and is having a cold beer on the deck in the back yard, it’s pointless to waste as much as a second trying to “convince” those who still deny the existence of it.

As someone once said: You cannot reason somebody out of a position they’ve reached without using reason at all.

Get rid of those damnable Open Season Zones that cause the deaths of innocents every year and we’ll have come a long way towards actually solving the problem.

People sometimes joke about His Imperial Majesty’s vest that he has to wear when it’s hot to stay in compliance with the law, saying that we might as well have “Shoot Me First” printed on the back and, whereas they do have a point, our reply is usually “maybe, but unlike our schools, we don’t have ‘we guarantee not to shoot back’ printed beneath that.”

End the madness, protect our children.

An armed society is a polite society.

Thatisall.

there’s a picture with a story floating around facebook. The picture is of a U.S. Marine standing outside a school in front of the school flag pole. Here’s the story:

HUGHSON — Marine Sgt. Craig Pusley was on duty Wednesday. Desert camo fatigues, knees slightly bent, the young father stood a self-imposed watch at Hughson Elementary School.

One man. No rifle. No pay. No breaks.

“When I enlisted, I swore to defend this country from all enemies, foreign and domestic,” said Pusley, 28. He served two tours in Iraq, in Baghdad and Ramadi, and one in the Helmand province of Afghanistan before leaving active duty last year.
U.S, Marine Corps Reserve Sgt. Craig Pusley stands guard as kindergarten student Liset Corona, 5, walks to her class at Hughson Elementary School on Wednesday morning (12-19-12) in Hughson, Calif. “I swore to defend our county from foreign and domestic enemies.” said U.S Marine Corps Reserve Sgt. Craig Pusley. He says I plan to stand guard here during the start and end of the school day for 30 days. He says he plans to have his son Canon, 3, attend the school next year.

“Schools are kind of against the rules over there,” he said. Over there, he stood guard for 24-hour stretches with a “battle buddy.” The pair spelled each other through short breaks for bare necessities.

He has no battle buddy in Hughson. But after reading a Facebook post urging soldiers be posted at every school in the wake of last week’s tragic shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut, he decided to take action on his own.

To the surprise of his very pregnant wife, Kristina, Pusley got up early Wednesday and dressed in uniform. He walked out of the house and around the corner to the school at 7:30 a.m.

“I was just praying and hoping the principal would say yes,” he said.

Principal Laura Fong did. “I said, ‘Absolutely!’ In light of all that’s happened, this is especially the time to make sure we help students and families feel safe,” she said.

Kristina Pusley, expecting in two weeks’ time, brought future Hughson Elementary kindergartner Canon, 3, to visit daddy midmorning. “I’m proud of him for it,” she said.

From 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Pusley stood his post, greeting kids as they arrived and saluting the flag with the kindergarten class of Annette Diliberto.

“I just want to have a word to this community that I stand between them and any danger,” he said. Asked about his lack of firepower, Pusley said, “I don’t need to be armed to do this. I don’t have a fear in the world that if someone came here, I’d have the strength and the ability to protect them.”

School receptionist Angelee Martin said she spent the morning leaking tears every time she looked out at him. “Everybody feels so safe with him there. He just impresses me so much,” Martin said.

Pusley said he’s returning to Hughson Elementary Thursday, a minimum day before the school starts winter break. He may return in January, depending on how well the family’s newest arrival is coping, he said.

He’s a stay-at-home dad right now. The family is living on savings and his reserve pay, enjoying being safe and together after his years away.

Parent Danielle Batteate said having a Marine on campus was wonderful. “Somebody, out of their own heart, is actually protecting our children,” she said.

Other parents posted the news on Facebook, bringing well-wishers who offered the Marine cup after cup of coffee. But too much coffee would mean leaving his post before school let out, so a growing collection of cups sat cooling around the flag pole.

    Sgt. Pusley was on duty.

To carry or not to carry is a personal decision,

on the other hand wanting to be a teacher is also a personal decision but, the desire is not enough. you must have the training to just apply for the job. firearms training could be required as easily as any other. a friend of mine turned down a job as a science teacher because it would have required him to teach evolution without mention of creationism.
another possible benefit to requiring teachers be armed would be the mass removal of liberals who refused to comply.

when i went to school the teachers were armed but when the communist teachers union infected our schools they put an end to that with predictable results.
