(Reuters) – U.S. school districts have spent millions of dollars on metal detectors, security cameras and elaborate emergency-response plans since the 1999 massacre at Columbine High School, but almost nothing could have prevented Friday’s massacre at a Connecticut elementary school, security experts say.

Pictured: “Almost Nothing”

Just in case said “experts” are unfamiliar with what “almost nothing” looks like, which it would appear that they are.

Morons.

The only thing that makes sense would be to train and arm the teachers that are willing to take that responsibility on.
Which of course means it won’t happen. I am waiting to hear some pol get the conversation started.
Nice almost nothing you have there.

Three things confirmed. 1. The kid was a nutter / borderline sociopath. His PARENTS are responsible for this for not making sure those guns were OUT OF HIS REACH and nowhere accessible to him. 2. He murdered his mother then took her guns, as he was NOT legally permitted to own one. Homicide with an illegal firearm. 3.Yet another mass… Read more »

I think the approach should be that each school have a position dedicated that has the exclusive task of emergency response for each school. This would include medical, fire, and instances involving violence against the children. Pay them well, establish high end training, require excellent physical condition…a perfect fit for our retiring SOCOM guys. We can afford 80k per yr… Read more »

“Almost nothing” means “nothing they are willing to consider”. Like close supervision of people with mental illnesses. Or armed citizens. That would, like, EMPOWER people and deny the rights of those Speeeeeeeeeecial Snowflakes to live and live out their personal warped realities. . . .

I don’t think that was Columbine, but was in fact a different one. Otherwise, correct in all respects.

cmblake6, irish19, that was at the High School in Pearl, MS. Assistant principal Joel Myrick stopped Luke Woodham AFTER Luke had finished his shooting and was leaving to go shoot some more at the Junior High School. If Myrick had not had to run a quarter mile in each direction to his car parked off-campus (because it had a gu-un… Read more »

LC&IB Vulcanrider, MSgt, USAF, Ret says: Again, a simple case of only the bad guys having weapons, like Aurora, like the Mall in Oregon (and now the mall parking lot in LA), Nebraska, and those innocent kids in school in Connecticut… One little detail on the Oregon mall shooting. Yes, there was no return fire, but an armed citizen did draw down on the the perp, which apparently was enough to get him to shoot himself. So an armed citizen did in fact stop the situation from becoming much worse. Notice how this little fact has been virtually embargoed by the national media. http://www.kgw.com/news/Clackamas-man-armed-confronts-mall-shooter-183593571.html VonZorch Imperial Researcher says: One… Read more »

When the results of their failed social policies, their lack of solid moral values, their abandonment of God and their numerous hedonistic agendas come home to roost, they always attempt to pin blame on some inanimate object. Don’t believe their garbage, it’s the mind set and conscience of the country that must be changed . . . not the caliber… Read more »

The GFWs in this country WILL NOT under any circumstances admit that deterrence works because that would defeat their one goal. They have screamed since time immoral that is better to disarm than to arm. They did it after every war and they did it throughout the COLD WAR when they fought tooth and nail against any kind of nuclear… Read more »

Light, other than the movies (Assault on Precinct 13) there is this incident in a Detroit Police station. But, that is the only one I am aware of.
