Okay Rotties: call it

I’d ask that each Rottie post their gut call for November.

Mitt or Barry, over to you. Post reasons and any theories. this isn’t a “how will you vote”, I’d like to ask a realistic gut call on how this will go down. We’ve all seen the poll models, and they swing so far and so fast they resemble Joe Biden’s few remaining brain cells dosed with Viagra on a trapeze.

If you call it for Obama, that’s okay, what I’m looking for is beyond the hype, beyond who we WANT to win….so this close, folks, put it all away, think on it and give me your best call.

Note: You all know me well, I am not an Eeyore, or a doomsayer, but I will be frank and state that it IS possible for the SCOAMF to leg it for another four years, no one with any brains takes winning for granted.

My call is Romney, with a narrow margin. Reasons? My call is the beer glasses are off, and Obama has passed his use by date by a wide margin. Can’t give a concrete rationale other than a feeling that he went to the well once too often. Benghazi is a festering sore that will NOT go away, and add in the economy fuckups along with his past “history”..Mitt will win, but it will NOT be a landslide.

My guess is maybe 10 or more electoral votes. Nevada and Wisconsin will be a knife edge. Florida as well. Don’t ask me why.

Vermont and open carry: a 2nd amendment issue, looking at Obama’s history in walking all over that amendment, my feel is that it will go Romney..just and no more.

DAMMIT, Why didnt Romney use that as a massive lever? Not as much the NRA, but he didnt or hasnt accentuated that factor enough. Mitt should have used the 2nd more and highlighted the Constitution. Gun rights are a HUGE percentage in voter visibility, and a high priority issue..one that he could have used to CRUCIFY Obama on.

Over to you

Romney. Don’t know the margin. The youth vote is not motivated because there isn’t much “hope”. The morale of the nation overall is down. Also the “white guilt, moment in history” crowd will at the very least not turn out. After four yrs of the most racially divisive admin they are tired of being labeled racist for merely disagreeing and feel like they gave him a honest chance. Finally, as much as the media has tried to minimize the tea party, that demographic is stronger than portrayed. The socialists overplayed the race card, class warfare, and heavy handed behavior. Americans do not want a sanctimonious, bowing, President with a less than dignified attitude.

I think it will be closer than I prefer, and I think that voter fraud will be substantial, which will be reason that it is close. I maintain that the polls are skewed by folks not being truthful out of fear of being labeled racist.

Here in Michigan nobody is paying attention. The black community is unified for Obama but lacks energy. The Reagan democrats will either stay home or vote for Romney. The GOP will pick up all the close senate races, but I hope they realize that this is their last chance. If the GOP does not govern like the tea party tells them, the libertarians will suck the life out of them in two years.

Eeyore here… Here in NC, the early voting has been very one sided Obama. I know early voting isn’t everything, but it’s what made the margins last time. I never thought my state would be dumb enough to go Obama again, but… Early voting in the other key states have been overwhelmingly democrat too. It’s no longer a one day deal. “Get out the vote” can last 2 weeks and be very effective. Today I’ll go to the polls and cast my vote to offset one of them…

Overall, I think the blacks come out in droves yet again and SCOAMF wins again, narrowly. They may not be overly motivated but there’s no way they’ll sit at home and let whitey win and risk their obamaphones. The polls seem to be swinging back toward Obama too like Romney peaked too soon. I really hope I am wrong.

Obama has a good chance of losing Illinois. Mark Kirk (R-RINO) won his seat by about 60,000 votes, Pat Quinn (D-Hack) won by 32,000 votes in 2010. Obama’s numbers here are down 15%. If it pans out Obama loses Illinois it will be a landslide of gigantic proportions. 320+ electoral votes for Romney.

First, from the pdf of the 2010 Chicago election results

Giannoulias has Kirk beat 53% – 43% in Chicago with 708,500 cast of 1,370,000 registered voters

But for the purposes of this we need to use the Cook County number (Another pdf)

Giannoulias is up 64% -32% with 1,400,000 cast

State-wide the total cast was 3,700,000.
    General Election Results[52]
    Party Candidate Votes Percentage

    Republican Mark Kirk 1,778,698 48.01%

    Democratic Alexi Giannoulias 1,719,478 46.42%

    Green LeAlan Jones 117,914 3.18%

    Libertarian Michael Labno 87,247 2.36%

Back in August (15-17) a poll had Obama winning Cook County 49% – 37%
    Source: http://dailycaller.com/2012/08/20/shock-poll-obama-could-lose-illinois/

Governor Quinn’s numbers during the same election were similar:

    Illinois gubernatorial election, 2010[27]
    Party Candidate Votes % ±%

    Democratic Pat Quinn (inc.) 1,745,219 46.79% -3.00%

    Republican Bill Brady 1,713,385 45.94% +6.68%

Independent Scott Lee Cohen 135,705 3.64%

    Green Rich Whitney 100,756 2.70% -7.66%

Obama needs 64% in Cook County to overcome downstate. If this is any indication of where Obama is going, he be in Hawaii in January:

A new poll of Illinois’ 10th Congressional District, which includes parts of Cook County, however, suggests the August poll might not be such an aberration. The poll, from WeAskAmerica, finds Obama with just a 2 point lead over Romney, 47-45 in the suburban district. Obama won the district in 2008 by 23 points.

Granted this is mixing apples with oranges in that the 10th District encompasses both city and suburban, but if the 23 point decease is any indication, he’s toast.

“I was getting ready for work and there was a knock at the door,” Wood emailed The Daily Caller late Wednesday. “I opened it, and a guy wrapped a ligature around my neck, slammed my head into the doorway, and smashed my face into a mirror, telling me ‘You should have kept your [f*******] mouth shut.’”

Ok, let me take a crack at this.
My gut says Romney wins this simply because momentum is in his favor and the NSDWP has been unable to destroy him despite $100 million in negative TV ads. Like Peggy Noonan said today that Americans don’t date losers, we are seeing the ultimate example of perception becoming reality. Obama is on the ropes and instead of elevating his game and looking Presidential, he is appearing like this is some Southside Chicago Ward election and going nasty and personal.
Florida is solidly Romney. I wouldn’t worry about NC and it’s early voting as it is a traditional Democrat stronghold and tactic. They know they have to have huge early voting numbers to overcome the election day tsunami that hits them. I don’t think they will be able to manufacture enough votes to overcome the election day onslaught. We will know more about Pennsylvania on Thursday. If it is within 3 points with Rasmussen, Romney wins. Ohio will go Romney, momentum and the polls are showing that. I am not sure of the margin but I am sincerely hoping it is above 2% to keep those EC votes from ending up in court.
Nevada will go Obama and Colorado will go Romney. WIsconsin will go Romney because Ryan will go in and make all sorts of deals. New Hampshire will go Romney because like you said, 2nd Amendment issues.
While folks are saying NJ is in play, I think it will be close but heavy urban population in north Jersey will be too much to overcome and NJ goes Obama.
In the end, I believe Romney ends up with 300 EC votes and wins the Presidency. Why, you ask? Well yes, the Benghazi thing was important but I believe deep down people wanted/needed a reason to vote against Obama and the first debate gave them that reason. Obama’s non performance gave the people the reason they need to avoid any phony charges of racism. After America saw the real Obama and a viable choice in Romney the polls moved almost immediately. I don’t see them moving back and with Benghazi on the front pages everyday, I see the margin growing. Now do you guys see why I said before that Romney’s strategy on Benghazi was beautiful? It worked!!! Romney appeared Presidential and didn’t have to go in the mud over Libya which would be going into Obama’s world because Romney or his advisers knew whether or not Romney brought it up, the press would undoubtedly be talking about Benghazi and therefore he wouldn’t have to say a word while Obama’s numbers took serious hits. Great strategy!!

I’m thinking, even above the margin of fraud, this is Romney’s. Facts:
    No one seems to name a demographic that the Golfer in Chief will do better with than he did in ’08;

    Regardless of sampling bias in the D+2,D+6 or whatever polls, Mitt’s margin among indies of about 18-20%, would be equivalent to Reagan’s ’84 landslide;

    They spent over $250 million this summer to do nothing other than vilify Mitt which all turned into wasted money after the first debate. When it is a choice of an evil unqualified Mitt then one doesn’t even have to go into the alternative. Once that was washed away by the first debate it becomes a referendum on the Kenyan’s record versus someone who looks able;

Mitt has the cash to battle to the finish unlike broke McLame in ’08.

Do you cue up Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide”? Not just yet but it could be. When Rendell says PA is in play, and one (anomaly or not?) has a tie in Michigan, it really could be. Not just FL, NC, VA, IA, CO, NH, and of course OH, but we would love to see Wisconsin, PA, and MIchigan.

More importantly – Romney doesn’t need to have the cash like they did in ’08. Obama had a positive message then that was much more difficult to fight. Not to mention the tactics he’s using are much neater. Romney is sitting back, running the odd positive message ad, and letting his positions and debates speak for themselves. He looks like the adult in the room, as Misha put it, while Obama flails and screams like a jailbait chick pushed in a pool. He’s got more to work with and is using it more wisely, so he’s less likely to run out.

I’d be curious to see what was spent on election campaigning in ’08 versus today, by both parties, adjusted for inflation.

EDIT – The Washington Times has some interesting information on who’s got money and what they’re doing with it.

I don’t see myself as an Eeyore, but I’m calling this one for ear leader. Several things: First, I think there will be voter fraud such as has never been seen in history. Already, a tv station has called the race for Obama, and in NC, voting machines switched a vote for Romney to Obama. Second, I think there will be plenty of people who are afraid of the racial riots that would occur if Zero doesn’t get reelected. Third, two states now split their electoral votes; that could be just enough to put him over. Fourth, despite all of the negatives surrounding Obama’s administration, he is polling surprisingly well. Fifth, people are STILL blaming Bush for all the ills of ear leader’s administration. Sixth, so many people are starting to vote third party (like Gary Johnson), which will ultimately translate into a vote for zero.

One positive is that I see fewer Obama/Biden signs than the last election, but I also see very few R/R signs. Ultimately, for my state, it’s a no-brainer. Nebraska has voted red for years.

If these polls are correct (which I doubt, the few internals we’ve been able to see are dubious as best), and the trend in this state mirrors the rest of the country, R should pick up enough to win. If the polls are indeed biased by as much as the few I’ve seen the internals for are, I’d be much more comfortable calling it for R.

On the other hand, Team Ø seems to be getting pretty desperate, so that ups the odds that it’s going to be an R/R win. When they feel they have to run ads in Connecticut and Rhode Island, they must be pretty insecure.

Brendan, I’m thinking Romney by a landslide. Both Mitt and Paul Ryan attract huge crowds to their campaign events, whereas Il Douche and Uncle Choo Choo do not. Mitt has outraised Obama by 2 to 1. The polls that show Obama ahead by 3 or 4 have a D+6 to D+11 weighting, but the voter enthusiasm does not indicate that type of turnout. Obama has gone out of his way to piss off Blacks (his “evolving” position on gay marriage), Jewish voters (his treatment of Netanyahu, Israel, and his support of radical Islam), the middle class (energy prices, food prices, unemployment rate and job availability), women (“vote with your lady parts”? Really, Barry? Do you really think that women are just vaginas whose only desire is free contraception and abortion on demand?), the military (corpse men, injured vets should pay for their own healthcare, etc.), labor unions, such as the coal miners, and so on ad nauseum. In fact, the only constituencies he hasn’t pissed off have been the multi-generational welfare parasites, illegal aliens, convicted felons, cartoon characters, and dead people. So, it’s no wonder that he and his Party are dead opposed to voter ID laws and honest and accurate voter rolls.
The blacks, for the most part, will not vote for Romney, and they won’t vote for Obama, so many will just stay home this election. Many of the Jewish voters will break for Romney. Obama had about an 18 point lead among women voters, but that is now dead even. He has lost the independents big time.
Other indicators of a Romney/Ryan rout are bumper stickers and yard signs. In 2008, there were Obama/Biden bumperstickers and yard signs everywhere. This time, there are more Romney/Ryan yardsigns, and very few Obama/Biden, even in heavily Democrat neighborhoods, not only in Oklahoma (O/B didn’t have that much support here in 2008), but in Missouri and Illinois. A few bloggers and commentators have noted that Obama could possibly even lose Illinois. Now, wouldn’t that be a kick in the pants?

At least with a system like CTs where you have a paper ballot and the only computerized bit is an optical scanner/counter, if the results are questionable, there’s a paper trail to check, unlike the touch screens. I’d rather go back to strictly paper, all hand counted, than strictly touch screen.

I’d also prefer doing away with early voting, since the longer the time frame, the easier I would imagine it to be to figure out how to game the system.

As for why Romney didn’t use the 2nd Amendment /Gun Rights against Obama? He’s a statist, too, and he doesn’t like guns any more than the Obamessiah. Hell, he’s proud that he’s anti-gun.

If Romney wins, and we get a Republican congress, we can at least work to get people back to work

Don’t be too sure about that. There might be a quick bump in employment as businesses that can hire, but have been holding off, take on new employees, but the overall economic situation is still terrible. Assuming Romney does start cutting back on the government, the economy would contract by 12% or more (the government excess spending share of GDP).

Romney may get us on the path to recovery, but it will almost certainly get worse before it gets better, and that’s only considering our own domestic situation. If Europe/Japan/China decide to go tits up in some fashion, look out.

Interestingly, here in Soviet Monica, Democratic People’s Republic of California, gun sales have been brisk, to say the least. I picked up some ammo yesterday, and the gun counter guy at Big 5 said that a huge percentage of his store’s business of late has been gun sales. Stores in Culver City and the Valley are doing even more gun business. There’s also been a lot of ammo on sale lately, too – and not the traditional hunting calibers, either.

A black man I know sent me an email about a BET (Black Entertainment Television) production called “THE SECOND COMING” — of Hussein Obama.

Yes, that’s the “documentary”s real title. So yes, there are leftwads who are worshipping the Golden Calf. The Lord made the Israelites who did that wander in the Sinai Peninsula until “all that generation had passed away.” The good guys had to guard the Ark of the Covenant and keep the laws of Moses going until they reached the promised land.

But I cry for my nation. If this evil man is reelected, I don’t know what I’ll do. I saw Atlas Shrugged II in the theater this week, and it made me terribly sad — all that is being done to our dear country now, and the forces arrayed against us are formidable. The Evil Man has gotten millions of dollars from anonymous overseas donors who want to destroy our nation, and the Fourth Estate are the Taliban among us.

I sure hope we win. If we can keep punching through the EneMedia firewall and getting the TRUTH out to our fellow citizens, surely there are enough of us with balls and brains to prevail!

Only reason I could think is if one were going tobring a few extra ballots and be there to make sure that votes were cast for every dead person on the rolls and the boxes stuffed enough to aid him, maybe. But despite NOVA (northern VA, which we consider a separate state) and everyone up there connected to the govt teat, I think the military (lot of sailors in Norfolk), the relatively sane ones here in central VA (outside of the city), and the coalfields in the western part of the Commonwealth should give Romney a solid win beyond the margin of fraud

    1) ca. 31 October / 1 November, there will be an assassination attempt on Ear Leader. He will then declare Martial Law, and “postpone” the election.

    2) On 3 November, Soldiers from Fort Myer, “The Old Guard” will march to the Pentagon, going through Arlington Cemetery. Upon arrival at the Pentagon, they announce the “resignation” of Leon Panetta.

    3) The election is “un-postponed” later that afternoon, via announcement of some Army Major, a random member of the Society of the Cincinnati.

    4) The election goes off as originally planned. Several dozen “Election Observers” from the U.N. are arrested and charged with interfering with shit that is none of their damn business. Several “Election Observers” from the New Black Panther Party disappear, never to be seen again.

    5) PV: Romney 52, Odumbo 46. Assorted minor candidates amass a total of about 2 – 3 million votes.
    EC: Romney ~330, Odumbo ~ 205.

    6) The forces of darkness refuse to honor the election, claiming everydamnthing they have ever used as an excuse. A recount is demanded in all of the 32 states Romney won.

    7) On or about 1 December, Joe Biden is sworn in as the 45th President of the United States.

    8) On the 20th of January, 2013, Romney is sworn in as the 46th President, and immediately (at the podium) signs Executive orders repealing ALL E.O.s of Odumbo, granting waivers to each state for ObamaCare, and arrest warrants for Eric Holder, Tim Geithner, Ben Bernake, and all of the unconstitutionally appointed Czars.

    9) On the morning of 21 January, the Dow opens the week up 500 points, is shut down for a “cooling off” of two hours, re-opens at 11:15, and promptly goes up another 500.
