Happy 237th Birthday USN

You started from humble and meager beginnings and have grown to the most powerful force the world has ever seen. From the days when you weren’t much more than a few frigates and more privateers than commissioned ships, through the age of sail and into the age of ironclads, the Great White Fleet, all the way to today when one light cruiser packs more destructive firepower than an entire fleet of dreadnaughts, you’ve plied the seven seas keeping the lanes of commerce open and projecting our nation’s force on foreign shores so that they couldn’t project theirs on ours.

Us jarheads and you squids have had our friendly “differences” over the years, but we are proud as hell to be your teammates.

Anchors Aweigh my boys!

P.S. Thanks for the rides. :-)

Somebody had to get you to the war, Crunch. For the Marines always took it, the army held it after the Corps moved forward. I had many Marine friends, including one that died in ‘Nam. I will never forget one of them telling me, when they called for support, the gratitude felt as Navy fighters tore the living shit out of ememy positions, also locations so the grunts could finish the job……
I have read of horrendous naval battles fought, ships blown out from under them, men torn apart or boiled alive, firing guns as they sank………….
    Thanks Crunch. Caveman, MM3.

A feat that’s all the more remarkable when you factor in the significant handicap they’re suffering under with Obama lackey and all around morale gutter Ray Mabus as Navy Secretary.

Here’s to continuing fair winds and following seas, Sailors. Salute.

My great grandfather , grandfather , dad and his brothers and then me served our nation in the USN. I am proud , privileged and honored to have been a small part in such a great organization. Four years of my life that Ill never forget. My dad always said that the Marines were sea going bellhops —what is a bellhop :em05:

My maternal grandfather (mom’s biological dad) served in the Navy for 22.5 years, in WWII and Korea. He was in Pearl Harbor when it was bombed (he had just gotten off watch and was getting into his rack when it was bombed, and nearly lost an arm an ear), and was a Purple Heart veteran. I never got a chance to know him, since he died when my mom was a child (liver cancer). His service, however, also inspired me to serve, even though it was in a different branch.

Many happy birthday greetings to you Swabbies, Squids, and Tuna-Can guys from an Uncle Sam’s Flying Air Circus puke.

Let’s face it people: Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, and even the Weekend Warriors, when the SHTF we all pull together to give the other guys the smackdown. We all together are DA BOSS, bar none. Proud to have served.
