More of the Sure Signs that Romney is in an “Uphill Battle”

Since Obama and his paid underlings are so very very confident of their inevitable victory that they’re now paying “protesters” $11/hr.

In Ohio.

Yep. That sure is a sign of a confident campaign alright. And they didn’t even manage to buy very many rent-a-crowd members either.

Sigh. Time to step up on the Imperial Soap Box and be Morale Officer again, and Harry V we’re not, but here goes:

Today, we’ll talk about something other than the relentless propaganda from the Obama/Media cabal, skewed polls and the unintended consequences of our own Eeyores’ attempts to be “objective”, because we’ve beaten that horse to death already. That’s not to say that we won’t re-animate it in the future by sticking some wires up its tender bits so we can deliver another beating at some point in the future, because we probably will. We enjoy that shit too much, is all we can say. Because we’re sick. The good kind of sick. What’s that? How would you like to have these battery cables attached to your scrotum? Thought so.

No, let’s take another part of the inevitable and predictable cycle of a presidential campaign, the brutal attack ad avalanches.

Yes, we know that we’re already hearing, mostly from Eeyores, the plaintive wails of “why haven’t they started yet? We were promised they would start right after the conventions!” Also, flying cars. But we digress. Sometimes we hear it from ourself too, which is mildly disturbing when you’re standing in front of the mirror in the morning, trying to shave. Because we look forward to that bit. It is going to be so much fun!

But it would also be pretty much entirely useless to start it up right now, five weeks out. Because we all know, if we think about it for more than a minute, that the average voter isn’t going to remember jack shit at the voting booth unless it happened during the previous two weeks. Also, the effect of ad dollars spent now can easily be wiped out in a matter of days by any number of sudden unforeseeable events between now and November, because voters are fickle. A bump is only worth the cost if it’s still there on election day.

Now is not the time to be carpet bombing the airwaves with expensive ads. It would be a stupid waste of resources. Now is the time for slowly rolling out a few to establish a steady drumbeat to keep the juices flowing, but nothing more than that. And that’s what we’re seeing. Then, in the last two weeks before the election, you open the floodgates.

Also, if you’re living in a solid red state (like us) or a solid blue one, you’re not going to see any ads at all. It would be, again, a pointless waste of necessarily scarce resources. Why blow millions of dollars in order to lose by 7 points instead of 9, dollars that could have made an actual difference in a swing state? We’re just going to have to resort to YouTube and the campaign site for our thrills, but that’s OK.

Incidentally, and briefly forgetting our promise to not talk about polls this time, this is what you should be looking for on the TeeVee: If you suddenly start seeing Obama ads (and we’re not talking about the Ogabe Steno Pool Media here, we’re talking about actual “I’m president Obama and I approve of this message” ads), then your state is up for grabs, no matter what the everhowling frack the Obamedia and Eeyores are telling you, because Odumbfuck is not exactly flush with cash like he was in 2008, so he’s not going to waste a penny on ads in your state unless he and his staff think they can lose it. THAT is an indicator of which side your state is leaning, better than any “poll.”

So, even as you fight to keep your lunch down at the sight of another Obama ad, rejoice in the fact that you live in a battleground state that Teh One™ thinks he might lose. And if you live in a state that he picked up in ’08, rejoice twice as much. Just please, no running around outside doing the nekkid happy dance. You can’t vote if you’re locked up on public indecency charges. Unless you’re voting Democrat, of course, in which case you can and will vote even if you’re dead. Particularly if you’re dead.

So back to the impending avalanche of ads against Obama. It’s coming. Mitt has the money, although it wouldn’t hurt if you were to throw some shekels his way if you have any. We have, and we would have never thought we would do that.

Will it work? Well. We’ve been thinking, and we want you to think about it too. Remember the primaries? WE sure do. We remember only too well how Mittens deliberately, surgically ad-bombed one after another of our preferred candidates out of the race. And we hated him for it, still do, because, needless to say, he’s not exactly our Dream Candidate and he didn’t exactly play fair. We’re sure you all feel pretty much the same way as we very much doubt that any of you had him at the top of your list either, so you feel the anger and betrayal too.

But one thing we also noticed in between grinding our teeth and wanting to strangle him with our bare hands was how bloody effective his campaign was in those bombardments. He took the competition out, systematically, one at a time, and it never failed. Every time somebody would creep up in the polls, he’d call in an adstrike and they’d be gone after the next primary. Without fail.

At the time our main reaction, in between entertaining fantasies of beating him up with nail-studded fence posts, was “sure, and then he’ll go all McCain when it comes to facing the real enemy”, but we’re not so sure about that anymore. The more we study him, the more we’ve watched his attacks and counter-attacks against Obam-bam, the more we’ve studied his history before his presidential ambitions, the more we recognize a personality type we’ve seen many times before, and that’s the personality type we like to call the “fixer.” Somebody whose sole purpose in life is to identify something he wants and then do whatever it takes to get it. Somebody who sees a problem and then sets about fixing it. They can be giant arseholes, and we’ve certainly seen enough of that from him in the primaries, but they also tend to get shit done and they’re absolutely ruthless when it comes to getting it done.

Initially, we saw him as just another jackwagon who just wanted to be president because he hadn’t checked that off on his CV yet. He certainly does want to be president, we don’t think there can be any doubt about that considering how long and how hard he’s worked at it (while being a ruthless arsehole at times if that’s what he felt it took), but we no longer think that he just wants the job because it’s a cool title, the way Obambam wanted it. We think he wants it because he sees the current state of the United States as yet another problem for him to fix, he sees it as just another Staples, headed for the sewer, that he can somehow turn around. Another clusterfuck like the Olympics that he can somehow turn into a success story. He sees a challenge, and that is like red meat to a starved lion to a personality type like his, if we are reading him right.

And it also means that he’ll happily resort to whatever it takes in order to get to where he can take on that challenge because, fuck it, he wants it and he wants it bad. There’s a mess, and it needs to be cleaned out. Which brings us back to the impending ad-alanche of doom and dirty fighting. Will it happen? We’re sure it will, because he isn’t going to let anything get in the way of him charging in to show ‘em how it’s done. Will it work? Look at his track record from the primaries. Did it work then? It fucking obliterated his opponents. We don’t know how he did it, but we can’t recall a systematic campaign of destruction in U.S. politics as effective as that one.

Keep that in mind.

Does that mean that we suddenly love the Mitt? Not by a long shot. We disagree with him on a number of points just as vehemently as we always have, our unflinching and arrogant positions on just about anything under the sun haven’t changed one iota, we still believe that he’s not near conservative enough, we’re not even sure that he’s conservative at all, but we DO know that four more years of Obungles is going to fuck up this nation beyond any hope of repair by civil methods and that, at the moment, is all that matters.

If we are to even hope to be able to repair the damage that has been done without doing it the old fashioned way, which we’re fairly certain that none of us wish for, then we have to start by getting Obama kicked out of 1600 Penn Ave. And Mittens, sadly, is the only tool we have right now.

And we’re optimistic, to get back on point, that he has what it takes to utterly destroy that jugeared clownshoe in the weeks leading up to the election because, no matter how little faith we have in his conservative bona fides, we know that he is somebody who doesn’t enter a fight unless he’s determined to win, no matter what. Failure is not an option. He’s no “it’s my turn but I don’t really want to piss of the New York Times” doddering media whore like McVain, that’s for sure, and the debates will be highly entertaining, to say the very least.

We mean, seriously. Can you see O-Stutterfuck without his teleprompter lasting more than five minutes against somebody like Romney, because we sure can’t. Couple that with a relentless barrage of carefully aimed attack ads right before the election.

This is going to be FUN!

Thatisall.

Not pointed out by many, but look at the timing on releasing his tax returns. Another move like Solyndra.

Notice that talking point vanished literally overnight and even to the point where they were trying to negative spin that he had paid more than what he could have.

That was just a small tactical move, just wait until they haul out the theater and strategic stuff. Buy popcorn, lots of popcorn.

Jackboot is right. The timing on the tax returns was brilliant. He gives the libs what they want (and then some) but does it on his own timetable and therefore controls the news cycle on this. If I were O-Blam Blam I would be afraid, very afraid. O-Blam Blam is running against a guy who is a winner, a guy who truly plays to win and will accept nothing less. O-Blam Blam had to have watched the primaries and saw how Mitt absolutely dissected his opposition with a surgical efficiency. he knows he is next.
Obama if he is going to pull some martial law bullshit, he better do it now because if he waits to 2 weeks prior to election day it will be too late. At 2 weeks out Obama will be too busy being carpet bombed by negative ads in EVERY swing state that a “manufactured crisis” will be received not as a crisis that can’t be wasted but more of another in a long chain of events Obama can’t control ala Arab Spring.
    This is going to fun.

I am still trying to figure out how all of these polls are “skewed” — even the FOX and Rassmussen polls, which are already skewed to the Right.

“Too many Democrats in the samplings?” Has it occurred to anyone here that there might actually more Democrats than Republicans these days? The Republican Party has narrowed its scope so much that it has literally squeezed out a large number that used to identify with the Grand Old Party.

I started out in life as a Republican. Today, Ike, Goldwater, Nixon, Ford, and even Reagan wouldn’t pass muster in the GOP. Many of the former members of the GOP have quietly slipped out into calling themselves “Independents” but that label can tend to include people who have slipped out of the Democratic Party for much the same reasons.

The Democratic Party is much larger mainly because it has a HUGE tent that spans from the “far left” to the “Blue Dogs” and everything in between.

Yes…… with a huge BUT. I live in Pennsylvania. O’bumbles won this state last time around by 7 points, but every sane poll puts PA as a point or two race right now. With the new voter ID law and a shrinking population in Philly I don’t think there is anyone who has quite figured out how the vote is gonna go this year. I’ve seen a bunch of Obama ads, so I know he is at least a bit worried about PA, but nothing from Romney. Erasing a two or 3 point deficit in the end of October is possible, erasing a five to seven point one is not. Romney needs to spend at least a little here NOW to keep it competitive.

The problem is the “Far Left” has taken over the party so many of the folks that identify Democrat are staying home or voting in another direction. You say Nixon, Regan, etc….. wouldn’t find a home in the modern GOP, and you may be right to some extent. I know that folks like JFK and even Clinton to some extent would be hard pressed to catch a national nod in today’s Democrat party.

Virtually every “skewed” poll has Obama beating Romney. InTrade gives him a 78.8% chance of being re-elected, Nate Silver has him at 83.9%, and Electoral-Vote.com has him winning by a ridiculous margin. Even some on the Right have quietly conceded that Obama will likely be re-elected.

The interesting thing will be how the polls shake out next Thursday/Friday, after the debate. It is possible things will tighten up, but I wouldn’t count on it.

You can tell Romney knows he is in trouble, given the switch up in a few of his positions. An example would be how he was first for RomneyCare, then against it, and strongly against ObamaCare (which is virtually the same as RomneyCare) and then going to repeal ObamaCare the moment he gets into office, and finally coming out the other day touting his RomneyCare again.

Do I really care who wins? Truthfully, I would give Obama the edge over Romney, but not by much. I would be just as uncomfortable either way. Neither candidate is going to “fix” anything. Washington is broken and will remain so for a while. I do think that if Romney loses and takes some of the down ticket with him, the Tea Party is through. It might bring back the heart to the Republican Party again.

I am one of those people that thinks there is a much higher likelihood of Romney being elected than is reflected in the news coverage and in the polling. There are pissed-off people in every state of the Union. Some of the surveys would have us believe that Obama enjoys a margin among likely voters, then when you start digging into the details we learn that his numbers are dropping among moderates, independents, Jews and Christians, and that the enthusiasm bias (% of likely voters saying their candidate must be elected) in the survey results has done a 180 since the 2008 election, with conservatives now having the upper hand. Makes no sense – these things do not go together.

But it would be extremely naive to think that Obama and the liberal machine will lie down for this. In fact, if arrangements have been made to attempt to engineer the results of this election, then what we are seeing today is exactly the right way to play it – keep placing doubt in the minds of conservatives, so that the outcome will not be questioned.

In 2009, Barack Obama turned over virtually all responsibility and authority for foreign policy negotiations with Iran to Trita Parsi and his National Iranian American Council (NIAC). Founded by Parsi in 2003, the Washington-based NIAC is a powerful lobbying group that is “…widely considered the de facto lobby for the Iranian Regime in America.”

“Four more years of __________________ will destroy everything that is worth caring about in this country. Game over, in that scenario.” This is a statement that has been uttered by many people for as long as this country has been around. Virtually every person who has become president has had its group of detractors predicting the destruction and collapse of our country.

It only appears to be even worse now because of the technology that allows instant information and where anyone who can fog a mirror and bellow out an opinion can be a “pundit”.

We tend to get the idea that the world is worse today than it has ever been — and that isn’t true. It has always been like this. The only difference is that when a person farts in Australia you can smell it here in the US within seconds, with various descriptions of the smell coming seconds after that.

It wasn’t all that long ago that an event could take place in Seattle, and nobody would ever hear about it past Portland. It would be “Trayvon WHO?

That isn’t to say that our nation hasn’t been constantly changing since its inception — it has. Again, technology has seen to that. The world is a tiny place today, and a separation of oceans is about as isolating as a walk to the local 7-Eleven. In less than thirty years, whites will be a minority in this country and that is something you are going to have to come to grips with. There will be other cultures mixed in with our own and unless you learn to adapt, you will be miserable.

I can remember as a kid here in the Seattle area never knowing what a taco was. Or a burrito. Same with sushi, ph?, or anything close to that. Today, we can see taco buses on the corner, ph? and sushi is everywhere. Here in the Seattle area, I swear we have more people from China floating around here than any other people.

So saying that four more years of one person or another is going to be our demise is just not seeing what is really going on.

Sorry RINOs and “experts” you can guzzle a nice pot of Shut Your Fucking Snatch. You bunch of R-unts can go mute and maybe go motionless and back to the earth as fertilizer. We might be known as the 53%, and by some of you, the unwashed masses, hoi paloi, ragamuffins, serfs, etc…. Yet, WE THE PEOPLE, are going to get sick of your shit and we will get back in your face.

    2. Your arrogance is pissing us off more, and giving incentive. Between President Dumbass and his smart ass sneers, and his wife’s nasty-tude, well, it’s a turn off. And you telling us how bad our side and our candidates are is getting old. You haven’t stated why yours are truly better, you pulled the just because bullshit. You and the media act high and mighty. However, if you can get off your knees from being infront of Barry Hussein and unlock your lips from his sack, maybe, just maybe your contradiction of being high and mighty but actually being Obama’s oral bitches wouldn’t turn us off. However, as of now, your hypocrisy is riling us up.

    3. Not our first choice, but your negative ads are pushing us toward Mitt NOT Barry Hussein. It’s no secret me and His Majesty were not going for Mitt Da Mormon in the primaries, at all. However, he’s who we have. I say he’s better than McCain, somewhat, but I wanna see him tear up Ojugears in the debates. Media analysis and Obama cum-guzzling aside, your gushing over him and bashing Mitt, WHO IS MODERATE, is unifying not just with Mitt, but more importantly, we are going to do our best to DESTROY YOU motherfuckers!

    4. Negative Campaigns don’t always work. Dan Webster, in Florida, was trashed, slandered, and lied about by Alan Grayson in Florida’s 8th Congressional District. Alan decided to call Dan, Taliban Dan, because Webster dared bow to another God, who wasn’t a Cocky Kenyan Commie Cocksucking Cuntdrip. Dan also spoke on Ephesians 5, which Grayson cut, chopped and made it sound like he was for wife abuse and spousal homicide, yet the ENTIRE VIDEO made it out and the whole chapter of Ephesians 5, including ‘husbands LOVE your wives…’ rang our. Grayson LOST by over 15 % of the electorate there. Webster is projected to win this year also. Grayson is running again, like a rectal sore, he needs to go away but won’t…. Also, in Texas, RINO David Dewhurst aka Lt. Governor ran against Ted Cruz in the GOP Primary for the GOP Candidacy for the US Senate. Dewhursts people threw mud at Cruz. They had advocates do the same. Dewhurst went on the negative in the debates. Cruz told more truths. Dewhurst LOST by double digits, in the Texas Primary, and Cruz is going to be Texas’ next Senator. And, Ted, is Tea Party….. So, Barry Oblowjob, please, keep going negative and keep talking down to us. It’s having the opposite affect.

    5. Polls are bullshit. I’ve never been sampled, and many others. It’s not random. It’s complete caca- falls into the old addage- There’s lies, there’s damned lies, and there’s statistics….. Yeah, you talk high and mighty how the majority is with y’all….. Yeah, you said that in 1980 in Reagan vs. Carter, parrotted that AGAIN in 1988- Bush v. Dukakis, and in 2000 and 2004 you liars bullshitted how Bush would lose. He won, TWICE! and your supposed best candidates, Al Bore and John Frankenstein Kerry got their bitch asses handed to them. Yeah 1992, 1996 and even 2006 and 2008 were BAD. That was our fault, our divisions our weakness, but we learned. You motherfuckers have denied God, told Israel to fuck off, and are leg-humping every sheikh and mullah you can find. Pretty sad and disturbing. But know what goes up, for you, will go down.

And you fuckers are going to hit earth faster, than Ralphie May skydiving from a airplane at 10,000 feet or less. Remember the Yucatan Asteroid? Remember Carter in 1980 and Mondale in 1984 (whom the media favored as the winner then)? Yep, you gonna crash! And I’m gonna laugh in your smug fucking faces!

    Google the phrase “normalcy bias”.

Does it not concern you that Obama is completely indifferent to the coming tax cliff on January 1st, the implications of which strike fear into liberals and conservatives alike? Does it not seem odd that he is taking absolutely no action on sequestration? Half of the impact will fall on Defense, a scenario he himself designed during the debt cap debacle. Given what is happening around the world right now, deliberate reductions in defense readiness borders on insanity. Now that we have learned that the Administration had concluded within the first 24 hours that the Libya attack was Al Qaeda, yet boldly lied to the American public for many days afterward, are you not curious as to why? Does it not bother you that the median household income in America has dropped by more that $4000 (over 8%) since he took office, yet there are no plans to address this in any meaningful way? Our population continues to grow, yet our workforce is shrinking. This week’s data on the economy are chilling predictors that third quarter numbers will show that the US economy has slipped back into a recessionary pattern. The Fed just implemented an open-ended QE3 that is hastening the end of the status of the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. Way too many Americans have no idea what that means. If they did, there would be burning tires in every intersection. There is literally no leadership hand on the economic tiller.

We have many systemic issues in our country that will require serious effort to address, and electing his opponent will not produce a host of instant cures, but it is very clear to me now what Obama’s designs are for our country, and they are nothing a thinking American would want anything to do with. Four more years of what we are experiencing right now would be catastrophic. But it gets worse. No longer needing to worry about re-election, he will be busy keeping those ominous promises he made to Medvedev that were caught on an open mic, undermining America’s one true ally in the Middle East, stonewalling intervention in Iran’s nuclear ambitions, and accelerating the implementation of his vision of America as a cog in a world-wide governance machine. Our liberties will be in play in a way they have not been since the end of colonial British rule.

WHOA, Lil’ Rott, Not so fast. As I’m sure you know Governor Quinn (D) defeated Bill Brady by less than 32,000 votes winning only 4 counties of 102. Whereas Mark Kirk (RINO) defeated Alexi Ginoulious (sp?) D-worm) by 60,000 winning all but three counties. In Crook County, Quinn garnered 900,000 votes to Brady’s 400,000 with another 100,000 going to other knuckleheads. 2010 being an off-year election the machine still used all the tricks in the book to get out their votes.
    http://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/state.php?year=2010&fips=17&f=0&off=5&elect=0

This year being a presidential election, you must remember the police and fire in Chicago vote dem locally, Repub Nationally. The Chicago teachers can’t be too happy with Obama not coming to their aid, either. The suppression of the dem votes, as well as the youth vote is key- if they don’t turn out as they did in 2008- Obama is toast.

Of the remaining votes, 2.4 million outside Cook County, to cover the 500,000 Cook County vote margin, Romney has to pull something of the order of 63% which, if the Brady and Kirk campaigns are any indication, is very possible.

The poll of 1,382 likely Illinois voters was taken Sept, 5 by We Ask America. It had Obama at 54 percent to Mitt Romney’s 37 percent. Another 3.3 percent said they would vote for a third-party candidate and 6 percent were undecided.

    http://southtownstar.suntimes.com/news/miller/15010684-452/illinois-seems-lock-for-obama-but-his-numbers-down.html

Remember, Obama’s numbers are depressed and the TEA party has been waiting for this vote. A Romney visit to Jackson County would seal it for him, but for now, don’t tell the dems, they are about to get sandbagged.

We’re facing a big FEC fundraising deadline — after this, there’s only one more before Election Day.
Here’s why that matters: Your donation will go further now than it will next week. That’s because it will immediately be put to use — if your $5 (for example) goes toward hiring an organizer in Akron, Ohio, she’ll have more time to do her job and reach more voters. And that’s how elections are won.
I hope you’ll donate $5 or more before the September fundraising deadline:
    Thanks for everything you do.

Take a look at what unions are doing for Camden New Jersey.

The reason, officials say, is that generous union contracts have made it financially impossible to keep enough officers on the street. So in November, Camden, which has already had substantial police layoffs, will begin terminating the remaining 273 officers and give control to a new county force. The move, officials say, will free up millions to hire a larger, nonunionized force of 400 officers to safeguard the city, which is also the nation’s poorest.

Hardly a political battle of the last several years has been fiercer than the one over the fate of public sector unions. But Camden’s decision to remake perhaps the most essential public service for a city riven by crime underscores how communities are taking previously unimaginable steps to get out from under union obligations that built up over generations.

Nope, because OBAMA does not make legislation. That would be CONGRESS.

You assume that on January 1st, there is no going back, that once that magic date comes, everything is carved in stone and cannot be changed. It most certainly can be changed, and retroactively to boot. The Bush tax cuts could have easily been repealed at any time before its sunset date if the majority wanted them to go. But for political reasons, they were let to expire naturally — and it looks like they will.

There will be a whole new Congress at the beginning of the year. THEY will hash it out then.

Yeah. Right. Like I’ll ever get used to being spat at. Or almost ran over. Wonderful gifts of a third-world mindset.

And even MORE from those third-world mindsets.

A Border Patrol agent fatally shot a 32-year-old mother of five Friday in suburban San Diego as he rode on the hood of her car after she ran into him, authorities and family members said.
The agent fired after being driven several hundred yards on the hood, Chula Vista police Capt. Gary Wedge told The Associated Press. The woman was later identified in a police statement as Valeria Alvarado.
The shooting occurred about five miles north of the Mexican border as plainclothes agents were looking to serve a felony warrant in the area to someone other than Alvarado, Border Patrol Deputy Chief Rodney Scott told U-T San Diego.
Scott said the agent was stuck atop the car as Alvarado drove.

    The money shot,

“Fearing for his life, he discharged his weapon to get the vehicle to stop,” Scott said. No other agents fired.
Alvarado was declared dead at the scene, and the agent was taken to a hospital. His injuries were not clear.
After talking to investigators, family members including her husband and cousin told U-T San Diego that Alvarado was a housewife and mother of five children ranging from ages 3 to 17 who went by the name Monique.
“I love her to the fullest. That’s my heart,” husband Gilbert Alvarado said. “Where’s the evidence my wife threatened a trained officer? I want justice.”

Dunno dumbass, maybe the fucking FACTS that he was hit by your wife, with a fucking car, then stuck on the car as she drove the fuck off. Speaks LOADS for “culture”.

I am NOT saying we take the WORST of every culture — there is plenty of that in every culture.

You tend to think in black or white terms, and have no instinct for the vast in-between. It’s no wonder you are angry all the time. It appears that you spend your entire life looking for the negatives in everything — and you will invariably find them. In EVERYTHING, if you look hard enough.

I am only pointing out the obvious and undeniable facts here. Society has ALWAYS been in flux and ALWAYS will be. “Traditions” change, and new ones are started. Most are driven by cultural influences. As a “melting pot”, we try to incorporate the “good” and shed the “bad”. You do live in “interesting times.”

We are quickly becoming a minority in a nation that was originally formed by Europeans. This seems to strike a certain sense of fear into some of you. It would have sounded unheard of fifty years ago.

We are being settled by the Chinese, Indians, Russians, Mexicans, and other -ans. All have come here for the “American Dream”, I have a friend who came from Uganda, who works four jobs just so he can earn money to bring the rest of his family over here. I have never seen him without a wide smile on his face and so deeply happy that you can just feel it whenever he is around. He brings his culture with him but he also embraces the existing culture here.

Here is the thing, Lobo, nobody is forcing you to embrace any culture that you don’t want to. As a secular Jew, I still happen to like Christmas. I don’t care so much for Thanksgiving, and don’t celebrate my own birthday. I enjoy Cinco de Mayo because I love the food and celebration. America is a smorgasbord of culture. We can pick and choose as we wish.

But sure, there will always be those extremists who are intolerant of people who are different from them. I find it kind of ironic that our religious fundamental Christians are intolerant of the religious fundamental Muslims. I would love to put both on Easter Island and let them sort things out among themselves. Intolerance shouldn’t be tolerated by anyone.

You can admit it or not, but it is happening more and more…… people are coming here with their hand out and a shitty attitude instead of with their sleeves rolled up ready to work and join a community.

The problem is directly tied to illegal immigration. People are coming here and economically and socially can’t join the community as a whole. They become defacto slaves, and they act as such. Wanna solve the majority of the problem? It’s easy, enforce existing immigration law. Then we go a step further get a bit picky on who we let in.

I am about 95 percent in agreement with you here. Just as I shouldn’t be expected to adhere to their home culture, I am not so rigid as to expect them to completely embrace the “wider American culture”. We have a lot of Americans who refuse to embrace a lot of our American culture. The Mennonites and Amish come to mind. Same with a lot of our Asian population that has been here for generations. They don’t expect us to adhere to their customs and beliefs, and we tend to leave them alone for the most part.

I don’t know where you are seeing this, but around this area we have experienced a huge influx of people from all over the world come here and work harder than a lot of the natives — myself included. I mentioned my Uganda friend in the comment above — that man works his ass off because he feels like he is in heaven. I see Hispanic guys all over the place working their asses off doing basically menial labor, trying to get ahead. Some get together and pool their money and start up businesses. Most of them aren’t illegal, most have green cards or have become citizens. The different Asians have their own thing. Then you have the Sikh who tend to get into the transportation field with their taxis and town cars.

Did I mention that my friend from Uganda is a Muslim? I only know it by accident — he doesn’t talk about it.

Perhaps I just don’t know of anyone with their hand out. I suspect those people are an exception to the rule though. We have enough really stupid Americans who are like that though. The “Obama Phone” woman is one of those. (too stupid to realize that the free cellphone thing predates Obama by about twenty years) A sure sign that the program has been stretched waaaaay past its original intent of providing phones to seniors and the disabled poor for use in emergencies. Time to revisit and either put it back to where it should be or do away with it.

    But I digress.

I have found that many of the people I’ve met who have come from elsewhere actually appreciate what we have here.

    LC HJ Caveman82952 says:

    I despise the word entitlement.

I think that people get confused as to what an “entitlement” is. In a casual sense, the term “entitlement” refers to a notion or belief that one (or oneself) is deserving of some particular reward or benefit — “just because” and for no other reason.

But an entitlement is a guarantee of access to benefits based on established rights or by legislation. You can be “entitled” to practice your religion, “entitled” to be judged by a jury of your peers if accused of something. You can also be “entitled” to the benefits of a program such as Social Security Insurance or Medicare Insurance if you have paid into it.

Welfare? Not an entitlement. Food stamps? Nope. Free cell phones to loud ignorant women? NO!

You aren’t “entitled” to have a job, or a car, or a house. You have an “opportunity” for those things, and is dependent on you working for it. If you are physically or mentally unable, then there are programs that might assist you as part of our social contract. A society is judged on how well we treat the least of us, but it never should be a blank check to encourage laziness or sloth.

I’ve always felt that welfare should be temporary and subject to repayment once a person is back up on their feet. Whether that is a direct cash reimbursement or in exchange for labor, that can be dealt with either way. I’ve felt that “Welfare to Work” is somehow backwards. It should be “Work for Welfare”. In other words, there are plenty of public works projects that a person seeking welfare can be put to work doing in exchange for the basics. If you are working for welfare and you need more — get an actual job. This solves a lot of problems — people aren’t just handed money, and things can get done for a small amount of money spent. It is a win-win situation. If someone is physically or mentally unable to work, then they can be the only people who get a free handout. But that number is pretty damn small. I know of a LOT of physically and mentally handicap people who are not only able to work, but get damn upset at people if they are told that they shouldn’t work. I work with a paraplegic sound engineer who has probably the best ear for sound of anyone I know.

No I did not. Not in the context of the Amish at least, the “culture” of the original Europeans to settle here was vastly different. They have been steadfast to that original culture of their ancestors vice “refusing to embrace” any current culture.

Like I said, technically it could be conceived as splitting hairs but there is a difference – by stating they refused to”embrace” current culture you put them into a different category – one that lumps them into the same as recent immigrants who like La Raza or some Middle Eastern groups – IOW recent arrivals – that flatly refuse to embrace American Culture.

The Amish didn’t just immigrate – they have been here since the start – see the difference?

Bottom line: Is their culture different than the “American Culture” as a whole? That, by any reasonable definition, pretty much says exactly what I stated earlier — that our “American Culture” continues to evolve thanks to technology, and coming into contact with other cultures.

So the Amish et al choose to continue to follow their “original” culture, doesn’t detract from the overall point I was making at all. I am not the one “splitting hairs” here.

All of this is just an attempt to muddy the waters in my greater point here: That our “culture” continues to evolve as it assimilates other cultures of the world. I’m with you in the context of your overall position, butt unfortunatley there are some things that need to be “tweaked”. the burden of assimilation is on the assimalatee not the assimilator. Why are the streets signs in Dearborn written in arabic? Why do I have to press 2 for english? You come to my country for the benefits then you have to accept any potential negative (culturally speaking). It amazes me that humans tend to immigrate to a area to shed the negatives of their culture only to try to establish a mirror od their former residence. It is the human condition. I have no problem whatsoever with anyone praying to any “god” they desire. What I do have a problem with is when that “god” tells them its ok to kill, minimize or in any other way not tolerate another that does not share the same beliefs. Its just that simple. It is unreasonable to come into my house as a guest and expect me to modify my pantry to accomadate your cultural tastes. And that is where we are. These people are not contributing to the betterment of our culture, they are demanding inclusion whether it be positive or negative which undermines the essence of the original thing that motivated them to seek our shelter to begin with.

It’s the difference I mentioned above between LEGAL and ILLEGAL immigration. As a general rule, those that come here legally, even if the first generation has trouble assimilating…… don’t shit on the larger American culture. They work hard, provide for their families, and the second generation is completely assimilated. The problem comes in with illegals, cause they have no way to truly join the community, they become the lowest common denominator. (I know there are a bunch of examples otherwise, but they are exceptions) I’ve said it before and I will say it again, illegal immigration is a form of slavery, only in this case there is no slave master. It is a recipe for badness.

And that is of course be neither he nor anyone else can do so. In the Christian Order magazine, I saw an interesting side by side comparison of Jesus and Muhammed. One of the most poignant was this:

Jesus: Nobody died in his presence, ever.

Muhammed: Many died in his presence; he killed them.

While this is short on details, (and one can argue that the two thieves crucified with him disprove the point, but I think that is splitting hairs), it nevertheless I believe is an excellent comparison between Christianity and Islam.

There are a LOT of cultural attitudes that I don’t agree with, but the beauty of this nation is that we don’t have to adhere to any or all of them.I am a Jew who enjoys Christmas, but Thanksgiving, not so much. I certainly don’t tell others that they have to observe Thanksgiving, or Gay Pride Day — just because someone decided it needed to be celebrated.

An American custom is to care about who wins the Superbowl or the World Series. I could give a fuck about either, but far be if from me to tell you that YOU shouldn’t care one way or the other. We are all free to pick and choose our customs and traditions, and for ME that is pretty damn American as you can get.

Now you want to throw religion into the mix by bringing up Muslims and Christians. Guess what, Muslims are here and they have been for a long, long time. So have Jews — and trust me, as a Jew, I have seen the “benevolent” side of Christians growing up here in the 1950s.

That said, there is NO way that the American people will ever allow one religion to reign over another in this country — not even the “Christian” one. I know that the common meme is that this country was based on “Christian values”, but if you look closely, those values are found in virtually every major religion — even Islam. It is only the fundamentalists of each religion who tend to see things so starkly different.

Are there those on the Muslim faith who are extreme? YES, OF COURSE. But there are those in the Judaism and Christian sides who are just as Right-wing extreme as those on the Islamic end. Thankfully the extremists are just that — extremists, and ALL extremists should be isolated and if necessary, exterminated.

Oh Deej, the straw men do come out to party on your whole “culture” argument don’t they? I mean hell, we Conservs all must be “white, Anglo Saxon, Christians” who are bigoted and intolerant of all others to the point of terror at the very thought of burritos, bagels and baklava being served on the same street. “Eeeek, brown people! Guard your culture boys! We’re gonna get violated by Taco Bell and Einstein Brothers.”

Come the FRICK on. That is some simple-minded, sophomoric bull-business right there. Firstly, how in the hell are we all suddenly guardians of Anglo-Saxonology? My grand-cestors were Celts, an ethnicity about ten centuries older than Anglo-Saxons, and we damn well wouldn’t let you call us “English” to our face. Most Americans at this point aren’t purebred progenies of Plymouth Rock. We have had wave after wave of non-English (and non-English speaking) extremely diverse groups immigrate and we actual real conservatives (not the cartoon character versions you just drew) don’t give a rats ass where folks are from, what the look like, how “funny” their accents are or what their cooking smells like. How FRICKING stupid that I even have to state that obvious fact to you, to anyone…ever. Have you ever read the history of Irish in America? It’s not like we were white or English speaking or part of the culture when arriving either. Suddenly, all pale skinned people are just frightened, lily-white, country club devotees (oh, except you and your liberal “ilk”)? *Ha ha, I said “ilk”.

YOU just don’t get it. The “culture” of America isn’t about how many ethic varieties of foods you can consume in a five mile radius, how cool you think you are because you have collected a first-name-basis “friend” in every shade available or how swell it is to vilify other “white people” because you are all immuned to the false-accusations you lob since you are open-minded enough to vote for Marxists.

We are culturally Americans for much less superficial reasons. We are ONE NATION UNDER GOD not several ghettos patch-worked together by an oppressive national government. I say the “diversity” lie is just that. It is a fascistic weapon of cultural destruction used to suppress and marginalize the fundamental tenants derived from our American heritage, our REAL culture. You don’t know this heritage because you have accepted the leftist version of history and cultural assessment and therefore you accept and repeat their flawed equivocation based arguments as truths. You see Conservs as needlessly frightened for the sake of the nation because any and all change is just a good and maybe better to you than America 1.0. You don’t particularly like this nation when you really get down to it. You believe we are selfish, over-fed, intolerant, bigoted, ignorant, and just not worldly enough.

I say it is liberals/leftist who think in terms of black and white on this issue; America and it’s culture and history is always wrong and all other cultures are always right and at the very least not at all worse in any important way. Of course you aren’t frightened for the future of a nation that you don’t really, truly understand or care much for in the first place. If you want to fundamentally transform this nation, then you don’t love it. If someone said, “I love you, but I want to fundamentally transform you.” You would be pissed. America is pissed. I’m pissed for her. Not frightened…Pissed.

You don’t appreciate the ways in which this American culture is superior? Really? Individual liberty, limitless opportunity, religious and expressive freedom, economic superiority, right to vote and participate in government, rule of law and militarily secured existence doesn’t do it for you? THAT is our culture. That and our fundamental understanding that rights including life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are endowed by our Creator and inalienable even by the government itself.

What you don’t acknowledge is that there are many, MANY who don’t agree with that culture, the REAL American culture. They want to “fundamentally transform” us. The Islamic extremists being the most obvious and dangerous threat, but there are others and they aren’t all “foreign”.

But you keep lobbing those accusations. Anyone who espouses love for America is a racist, sexist, fill-in-the-blank-ophobe and you are oh so very nuanced with your shades of gray that aren’t really. After all, any old culture will do. Who cares what happens to the American ideal so long as America 1.0 is dead and buried just like you and Obama want it.

Here the whack jobs like that group out of kansas are openly denounced and actively minimised by the moderate christians and it is done without violence. Over there the moderates will not openly deny and shun the extremists. And why is that? Its cause the extremists will fucking kill anyone that does so.

Also I disagree with your whole “we will all be mulattos” theory. The cross race breeding is no where near a rate high enough to support the theory, and cross race breeding is disparged by every individual culture. This is also part of the human condition, the whole birds of a feather thing. It is easy to see that humans willing segregate themselves. We are more comfortable and secure residing and interacting with our own tribe. The tribe shares a built in commonality. I’m surprised that your knowledge base of applied psychology doesn’t understand this fundamental behavior.

The whole “one world govt / culture” theory is nonsense as the human will never give up its natural behavior. The best we will achieve is a tolerance of others and that is all. Bruce Donnelly:

Here’s another fact to consider. In the March primary, Obama got 402,495 votes in Cook County out of his statewide total of 652,583.
Meanwhile, the Republican primary candidates added up to 933,454 votes. Of these, only 198,320 came from Cook County. That consisted of 151,292 from the suburban Cook townships, with the rest from Chicago.

The Dem turnout in Chicago and suburban Cook was far below the contested 2008 primary, when there were 2,038,614 Dem votes in Illinois, of which 1,318,234 went to Obama. Of those, 743,686 of the Obama votes were from Cook county. The “undervote” in the 2012 primary in Cook County was around 8%, meaning that 8% of the few Dem voters who showed up chose not to even vote for Obama, even though he was unopposed. In some suburban townships the undervote was 15 – 20%.

The point is that Chicago voters may still support Obama, but suburban Cook is a different story. Romney could actually win Illinois because suburban Cook and the collar counties can combine with the downstate Republicans to defeat his limited base in Chicago, where many former supporters may be very frustrated.

As far as the moderates not stepping up to denounce the actions of the extremists, they do, all the time. You are either not hearing them or you are ignoring them. Case in point: right after our ambassador was killed in Libya, a LARGE group stepped up to denounce his killing. Many of them were the ones who were there protesting when the terrorists used them as cover to launch their attack. They had no intention of killing anyone or destroying anything — they were simply there to protest what another Right wing supposedly Christian fucknozzle had done.

Much of the time, our media doesn’t report the denunciations of Muslims against the violence. I would sooner watch Al Jazeera for news than our own “news”

The other was a military style attack using light and medium arms on two seperate but related targets that was visited by “protestors” AFTER the shooting stopped and four americans were deceased.

At one point the meme was to excuse the protestors as they were just poor undeucated people that somehow became aware of a video which at the time if the incident was obscure. Apparently (even though they can’t afford interwebz ) they learned of iths video and then immediatly began to work on their protest signs…..in english. Then as they were “protesting” decided that chanting “Obama Obama we are all Osama” seemed like the prudent thing to do. Wonder what they meant by that? They couldn’t have possible been uphappy bout that raid we did in pokeystahhn. Naaaaaaw. Oh yeah and this all happened on 911. Nothing to see here, move along. Move along.

The “video made em do it meme” is so intellectually insulting that it makes me want to slap the shit out of the willfully lying idiots that preach that utter hogwash.

Do tell. Just a few short months ago, you were bad mouthing Mr. Etch-a-Sketch like everyone else. Again, I challenge you to tell me exactly WHAT MITTENS STANDS FOR. (please don’t insult your intelligence by saying that you can find it on his fucking website)

The FACT is, Romney is a complete mystery to you and everyone else. He has been on virtually every side of every issue put in front of him. For every position you can state, I can show you where he has said the exact opposite.

    Wake the fuck up..

Yeah, and…? He’s still not the guy I wanted. In fact there really wasn’t a candidate I wanted. I do however recognize the fact that the current administration is such a complete fucking disaster of a joke that it needs to be changed now and guess what, it’s either Mittens (who did have the good sense to pick Paul Ryan, a REAL orator) or jugears McPuttsalot and his sidekick Dimbulb.

As for worrying what Mittens stand for what do you care? You and the rest of the schmucks voted for “Hope and Change” without even giving a shit what it meant. None of you cared about any policies or beliefs he held let alone give a damn about any details. None of you cared and still don’t care about the media carrying jugears on their stooped shoulders for four years as they try to carry him over the finish line again moreover none of you even care about his established record of dismal failure. So start questioning the man in the mirror before you have the cheek to question someone else.

Believe me, I could care less about your ass.

    You brought up the subject.

The “change” is — and continues to be — the unmitigated disaster that has been in place ever since Reagan. The “bubble” economies brought on by lower and lower taxes to the rich, the theory that if you give more money at the top, it will somehow “trickle down” the the rest of us schlubs. The idea that the government should be run like a “business”, which by its very nature is completely anti-democratic.

Did we get that “hope and change”? We got a little bit of it, but these things take time. A lot of people expected vast changes overnight and for the milk and honey to start flowing by February 1, 2009.

We definitely wanted a change from the previous eight years of Bush.policies. Remember that “BIG GOVERNMENT” that has a lot of you upset? Most of Bush’s “job creation” was to grow the government up to its largest size ever. He put two wars and Medicare Part D on the credit card, while simultaneously cutting taxes to the rich. At the same time he put the most inept people he could find into positions where they were doomed to fail, just so that when those departments did fail he could point out where “government doesn’t work”.

Unfortunately, Obama really hasn’t done much to change anything. In many cases, he has kept a lot of the Bush-era appointees in place. He pushed through a health care bill that was first dreamed up by the Heritage Foundation and later adopted and initiated by a governor who is now running for president and who claims he will repeal this boondoggle. (or as he did last week, claim credit for it)(or not).

Oh yes, the dreaded “Trickle Down” written in quotes.

DJ, you’ve told people many time that what ever topic they were ranting about was more complex. Well physician, heal thyself. Trickle down works, only it’s more complex than simply giving tax breaks to rich folks. THe business tax code, regulations, trade agreements, business law….. etc… all come into play. Once upon a time in America the biggest return on an investment you could get was to start a company and build something….. that is not the case any more. Wanna get people working? Create an environment where starting a business is once again the biggest return on investment.

    Yes, trickle down works….

Do you seriously not see the flaw in that statement? The government gives nothing, the rich, middle class and everybody else, earns what they have. There isn’t some big pile of government money that we are giving it all to the rich and nobody else, the goverment owns nothing , creates nothing, without first stealing the money from someone else.

So please stop saying that the government is giving all our money to the evil rich.

And were we not screaming about the fucking spending then too? Just because Bush did it, and it was wrong doesn’t mean Obama doing it x’s10 makes it right, He said he was going to cut spending , the deficit et al. YOU believed the lie, But like every other person I know that voted for Mr. Spread the Wealth Around, you can not admit you fucked up by giving the person with no real world experience in anything except for running for office, the keys to the most powerful country on the planet.

And you will vote for him again because it is easier to believe the lie of “we didn’t realize just how bad the previous administration screwed it up”, so give us 4 more years, So we can have more flexibility to do what we need to do.

And if you havn’t been paying attention I have already stated that I am not voting for either of these jackasses, I’ll write myself in and vote for the senate and house races.

If’n you mean President Obama (try to have just a little respect for the office) the evidence gathered does indicate that terrorists used the protest as a cover for their attack.
Now if you can sit there on your ample ass and tell me that a President Romney could have handled this any differently, then by all means, do so.

Oh fucking please! That DNC cow pie is decades old and has more whiskers on it than Methuselah. Plus it is one hundred percent wrong. Reaganomics not only pulled America out of it’s seventies doldrums it paved the way for the prosperity in the Nineties. Liked the Tech Boom? Thank President Reagan. Bill Clinton would have but he was too busy playing “hide the salami” with his pudgy, homely interns.

The only beneficiaries from Porkulus were the unions that helped elect him and his Democrat friends heavily invested in “alternative energy” scams. The only thing “shovel ready” about that debt nuke was the ocean of bullshit out of the mouths of the administration and his media flying monkeys. Remember that Richard Pryor movie in which his character has to blow thirty million dollars in thirty days, with nothing to show for it, to receive the three hundred million dollar inheritance? We just lived through a four year remake of that movie and it’s called “jugear’s Trillions”. Worst of all the only inheritance waiting after all of that wasted capital is the bill. I, and the rest of the country, aren’t interested in the sequel.

Who’s more ignorantly irresponsible? The original hiring manager, or the one that keeps the proven poor performers in place? Would Bush have been able to start two wars if Bill Clinton had acted on intel and mitigated OBL? Would Buoooosh had been able to “start” two wars if jihadists hadn’t hijacked and flown airplanes into the twin towers?
