US-commanded MFO in Sinai under attack — dead reported in compound
Israel media - Channel 2 – just reported that the US-commanded Multi-National Force Observors headquarters in the Sinai is under assault. Salafists laid
seigesiege to the building this afternoon and some 50 armed men stormed it. There is fighting going on in the building and there are dead inside.The MFO is the force that was established under the Israel-Egypt peace treaty. It is charged with guaranteeing the demilitarization of the Sinai.The MFO has two bases. I believe that the one under attack is in northern Sinai, built on an old Israeli Air Force base.The MFO has come under attack several times since the outset of the US-supported Islamic revolution there. The US approved and forced Israel to accept the deployment of Egyptian tanks in the Sinai some weeks ago as part of a much touted counterterror offensive of the Egyptian military. Its results were inconclusive but at Israel’s insistence, the tanks were removed a couple weeks ago. Egyptian President Morsi supports the remilitarization of the Sinai. It is hard not to see the strategic implications of this attack on the MFO.
As I emailed some of you earlier all flights out of Ben Gurion International Airport are sold out. President Barack Obama has bowed to the Muslim Brotherhood’s demand that the federal government suppress a satirical video of Islam’s prophet, Muhammad.
Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for the National Security Council, told the Washington Post that the White House has “reached out to YouTube to call the video to their attention and ask them to review whether it violates their terms of use.”
The request complies with the Sept. 13 demand and threat by the brotherhood, which now governs the Arab’s world’s largest country, Egypt.
“Hurting the feelings of one and a half billion Muslims cannot be tolerated, and… we demand that all those involved in such crimes be urgently brought to trial,” according to an English-language statement on the brotherhood’s website.
The brotherhood’s demand included a threat of additional violence during Obama’s re-election campaign.
“The people’s anger and fury for their Faith is invariably predictable, often unstoppable,” said the website.

Ambassador Chris Stevens did not have a Marine detail in Benghazi, Libya. But White House Senior Advisor and Obama confidante Valerie Jarrett has a full Secret Service detail on vacation in Martha’s Vineyard, according to Democratic pollster Pat Caddell.
That’s the pathetic foreign policy of the Obama administration, says Caddell today in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News. “Jarrett seems to have a 24 hour, around the clock detail, with five or six agents full time,” Caddell explains. “The media has been completely uninterested. We don’t provide security for our ambassador in Libya, but she needs a full Secret Service security detail. And nobody thinks there’s anything wrong with this. And nobody in the press will ask. What kind of slavish stoogery are they perpetrating here?
“This country has reached the point of absurdity. There are people dead because we don’t have security details for them. But she’s privileged to have a full Secret Service detail on vacation?”

While the U.S. media focuses on GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s reaction to the attacks on American embassies across the Middle East, the international media has focused its attention on the actual president, Barack Obama.
In a roundup of international opinion, German Der Spiegel featured this take from the conservative Die Welt:
“US President Barack Obama’s Middle East policy is in ruins. Like no president before him, he tried to win over the Arab world. After some initial hesitation, he came out clearly on the side of the democratic revolutions. … In this context, he must accept the fact that he has snubbed old close allies such as Israel, Saudi Arabia and the Egyptian military. And now parts of the freed societies are turning against the country which helped bring them into being. Anti-Americanism in the Arab world has even increased to levels greater than in the Bush era. It’s a bitter outcome for Obama.”
“Obama was naive to believe that one only needed to adopt a new tone and show more respect in order to dispel deep-seated reservations about the free world. In practice, the policies of the Obama administration in the region were not as naive as they may have seemed at times, and the Americans have always been much more involved in the Middle East than the passive Europeans.
