SCoaMF Lying While Accusing His Opponents of Lying

Because, what else can he do at this point? It’s not like the truth is going to help him and it’s not as if he has any accomplishments to run on.

Mr. Obama this week, for the first time, entered the fray. Campaigning on Tuesday on college campuses in Iowa and Colorado, he told thousands of supporters not to believe the opposition’s attacks because, “how do I put this nicely? They will just fib.” On Wednesday in Charlottesville, Va., he ramped up his complaint, winning applause from the estimated 6,500 people.

“Sometimes they just make things up. But they’ve got a bunch of folks who can write $10 million checks, and they’ll just keep on running them,” he said. “I mean, somebody was challenging one of their ads — they made it up — about work and welfare. And every outlet said this is just not true. And they were asked about it and they said — one of their campaign people said, ‘We won’t have the fact-checkers dictate our campaign. We will not let the truth get in the way.’”

Here’s what “one of their campaign people” actually did say:

What Mr. Newhouse actually said was, “These fact-checkers come to those ads with their own sets of thoughts and beliefs. We’re not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact-checkers.”

Erm, oops.

But at least we know now exactly where Deej got his exact talking points from when he used the exact same line as Jugears in an earlier thread.

Quoth he:

One of the most ironic statements made by the Romney campaign came out yesterday: “We’re not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact checkers” Translation: “yeah, we are lying, but some people will believe us”.

Sounds awful familiar all of a sudden, doesn’t it?

Oh, and for those still wondering why we don’t give a flying fuck what PolitiFucked.org says about “facts”, go ye and read.

Thatisall.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Honey Boo Boo” scored more viewers in the key 18- to 49-year-old demographic than the RNC coverage on any one of the individual broadcast networks. But, of course, aggregate coverage of the RNC across networks topped “Honey Boo Boo’s” numbers

John Nolte at Big Journalism has done an excellent job of compiling the bias of the so-called ‘Fact Check’ orgs. Like Politifact rating it a lie when Mitt Romney said a President who had never been to Israel…..had never been to Israel.

    That actually happened.

Hmmm. was this post about ME?

Here is a question for you: Who exactly would you choose as a fact-checker? Someone who you agree with 100 percent, or someone who actually tells you what the facts are — even if they point out that you might be wrong?

I tend to go with the one(s) that will tell me the FACTS — even if they are inconvenient to what I might personally believe. I don’t just choose one source, I look to see what the general consensus is. When I am looking for facts, I am NOT going to go with someone’s opinion.

The main two fact checking sources, Politifact and Fact-Check dot org, are not afraid to point out where anyone might be lying. They are also not afraid to change their minds if facts stop supporting a stance they previously took up.

The trouble we have in this world is that there are a LOT of “Low Information Voters” who will only believe something that fits their preconceived notions — even if the actual FACTS are a compete 180 degrees opposite of their beliefs.

Facts are FACTS. There aren’t two sides to a fucking FACT. If you believe there is, then you are fucking stupid, and probably should be kept away from sharp implements.

Most fact checkers tend to reference their sources. Both Politifacts and Fact Checkers dot org do. Media Matters tends to post the actual un-cut audio or video to prove their point.

Son, Honey Boo Boo is just ONE show out of many. When you compare the RNC Convention coverage across the ENTIRE spectrum of television broadcasting, it was a minor event against the entire spectrum. The DNC will also be a minority coverage, BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE JUST DON’T GIVE A SHIT.

The fact that the fucking CARTOON NETWORK has a higher viewership than FAUIX News should tell you something.

But hey, HERE is a fucking topic you should expand upon: Can anyone here articulate what exactly a Mittens Presidency is going to do? I don’t mean generalizations, I want DETAILS. C’mon, my gullible friends, , tell me what Mitten’s “PLANS” actually are.

You bring up a good point, this seems to be a big problem with my friends on both the left and right and sometimes I actually find myself falling into this trap as well. The biggest problem I can see with politics these days is that people are too polarized to either the left or the right that we often miss the opportunities where the left and the right can compromise. Back in the 80′s President Reagan and Speaker Tip O’Neil frequently worked together in order to solve problems. In the 90′s President Clinton had to work with Speaker Gingrich and somehow, other than the government shutdown of 94, things got accomplished. Today, Bipartisanship is dead. For better or for worse it’s dead.

Sir, I have one bone to pick with you. You state that polti-fact is biased but you use a conservative source to prove it’s biased. How can you justify using a potentially biased source to debunk a potentially biased source?

I’m not a fan of Obama but I have yet to see much from Mittens that will convince me that he is going to be different or better. Fortunately I still have some time before the deadline to mail in my absentee ballot so I might be persuaded to hold my nose and vote for Mittens but most likely I will vote third party. Won’t make a damn difference anyhow because barring some act of god Romney won’t lose Tennessee because I decided to cast a protest vote. Also, my congressional district is heavily Dem so it won’ matter if I vote third party down ticket either. So yeah, I kinda don’t give a shit because essentially my vote doesn’t matter very much. It kinda sucks not being from one of those magical “swing” states as opposed to a flyover state like TN.

    A fair point.

My first problem with PolitiFucked was that, if they are truly unbiased and are to be believed, Republicans lie 9 times more than Democrats. That alone ought to make eyebrows lift.

But, acknowledging that such, while not likely, is certainly not impossible, one then has to study particular cases where Republican statements have been deemed “lies” by PolitiFucked and look into the details. Which is what the article does with a mere three examples (which weren’t even among the ones we’ve seen over the last few years) where it is clear that they’re not “fact checking” what was actually said but rather what PolitiFucked deemed that they actually meant to say or just some other completely irrelevant claim that they never uttered in the first place.

Thank you sir, I appreciate that you answered my question and did not interpret it as a “gotcha” question because that was certianly not my intent. I’m not a big fan of a “fact-checker” because in my mind it does raise the question “Who fact checks the fact checkers?” . I try, but sometimes fail, to keep to the old saying ” Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see”. I try to apply this to not only liberal but conservative sources as well.

The biggest problem I can see with politics these days is that people are too polarized to either the left or the right that we often miss the opportunities where the left and the right can compromise.

The real problem is the inherent nature of politics in that it is very much personalized. Like the old adage goes, Politics and Religion should never be discussed in polite company. People tend to take contradictions to their political views as a personal challenge of varying degrees depending on the individual in question.

As for the compromise part that can’t happen at least right now because there is no middle ground between the two sides. The two sides positions are diametrically opposed to one another with the metaphorical Grand Canyon in between. Furthermore the current configuration of the left wing in America is locked into an ‘all or nothing’ mode. They want their vision of America to come to fruition without any deviancy or modification from their model. Whenever the left talks of compromise it is for the purpose of advancing their agenda only. A prime example comes from the Eighties when President Reagan voted for amnesty of illegal aliens in exchange for immigration reforms and border security. Amnesty happened but the rest never materialized because the left had no intention of following through on their end. The left wants their Socialist-based, Apartheid system of governance combined with their continued assault on American culture through Multiculturalism and social anarchy.

Look at their pasts and compare and contrast.
I’m no Romney fanboy and I’ve said and written some pretty nasty things about him. As I learn more about him I think I may have misjudged him and been unjust in my assessment of him. He’s too liberal for my liking but he does want what he believes is best for America and wants the country to be prosperous and strong. On that basis I can put disagreements aside and be allied with a fellow patriot I disagree with for a common cause.
Mitt Romney was raised to be a patriotic American, to embrace capitalism and to be charitable and generous. His history, as told by the people who know him and those he has helped, show him to be a good and decent man who gives freely of himself to those around him, not for public acclaim, but because it’s the right thing to do. His business success shows that he understands how the economy works and what it takes to be prosperous. He is the quintessential self made man.

    This:
    http://www.mittromney.com/

Romney may be light on specifics in his speeches so far, but he’s operating from a capitalist worldview. That alone is enough information to know that his economic policies will be a vast improvement over those of the communist in office now.

Barack Obama is a red diaper baby, raised from birth by Marxists (genuine Communists, actually) to hate America and everything it stands for. His rhetoric and his actions show that his goal is a diminished America with a lower standard of living, unable to assert hegemony in the world. You really need to watch 2016 Obama’s America.
He regards earned success as evil and government as the source of rights, wealth and prosperity. His actions as President show a hostility to freedom that is impoverishing the middle class. (this is a feature, not a bug) His “economic stimulus” is a textbook example of the broken window fallacy.
He has spent millions of dollars to keep many details of his past hidden. Why? You don’t spend that kind of money to hide things if you have nothing to hide. He has never earned anything in his life. Everything he has or is was given to him. Who are his patrons? What do they want in return?
So it all boils down to this: Do you want to live in a capitalist country with capitalism’s track record of prosperity, or do you want to live in a communist country, with communism’s track record of misery and bloodshed?
The choice we have to make really is that stark.

I wholeheartedly respect your decision and if my state of legal residence was in a state where I believed my vote would swing the election one way or another I might have decided to join you in your support of Romney, though only halfheartedly. Bottom line is Romney doesn’t need my support to win Tennessee so I would rather vote 3rd party because in the words of Eugene Debbs (Ok, so the guy was a Socialist but that doesn’t make the following quote any less true) ” I would rather vote for something I want and not get it than vote for something I don’t want and get it”.

No, no an average voter. I generally have disdain for the average voter because they put as much thought into who they are going to vote for as they do whether they should get a large coke with their value meal or what tv program they want to watch. However, I do share their disdain for the political process because as I mentioned earlier if someone lives in a particular state then their vote doesn’t carry much weight. Overall though, I’m very disenfranchised with the overall process. The two major parties have moved so far to the left and right that there is no room for a guy like me anymore. I joined the LP in 2007 as a form of protest, though the joke was on me because no-one cared. Heck I supported Ron Paul because I thought that it would be a good way to kick the establishment in the nards. I especially loved how the establishment wimps started wetting themselves when he started rising in the polls.

The rub lies in not knowing what others will do. You could be inadvertantly de facto voting for what you don’t want, regardless of your logic.

I’m not thrilled with Romney either but I’ll not toss my vote to the wind by voting for what hasn’t a chance in hell of winning. If there’s the slightest chance the Lawn Jockey in Chief and First Wookie might get to stay in the president’s DC residence for another four years due to the possible multiplication of my actions, I’ll vote for the lesser of the available evils and buy more ammo.

Off subject, what pisses me off the most is the Oath of Enlistment recited by our miltary personnel when they sign on to “protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, both foreign and domestic” – heavy on the domestic.

The communist pile of dogshit in the White House is most certainly an enemy of our Constitution as evidenced by his actions. I’d like to know just exactly why our fucking fucking military has not taken action.
