Pardon Me for Being Nosy… [Updated]
… But I have a couple of questions.
I promise it won’t hurt.
I am working on a project. More specifically, a theme for this site. I’m not looking so much at a facelift, but a major change in the foundation and architecture.
What I need from you are the following five things:
1. What operating system are you using?
2. What is your display resolution?
3. What browser are you using, and what version is it?
4. Do you ever use your smart phone to view this site?
5. BONUS QUESTION. Any features you’d like to see added or removed?
This information will be helpful to me in what to design for. It isn’t as though you are giving up state secrets — I have a fair idea right now.
[Update] The new HTML5 jukebox cannot be embedded in the side bar at this time. I do have a plan for it later. So for the time being, you can use the Pop-out button to access a stand-alone version of the jukebox. It will also take me a while to get the entire collection of songs put back on it, so be patient.

Occasionally. I use my tablet here more than my phone. Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF-101, 1280×800 resolution, built-in browser, Android 4.0.4. Phone is Samsung Exhibit II 4G (a. k. a. Galaxy Exhibit) , Android 2.3.6, 800×480 resolution, built in browser.

Suggestions? The search box results (when I use it) are TARFU, and the format cuts off the title if it wraps to a second line (at least on my pc). I use it to search my old comments but it doesn’t work well – something better would be great. Image embed in posts would be awesome. Put the Emperor’s twitter feed on the home page too.

Don’t change font when mousing over a link. It’s annoying when I mouse over a link that’s at the end of a line and the size change sends the link to the next line and I have to chase it around. That’s about it.

Just so that people know/realize, XP is NOT where you want to be any longer — especially if someone is still trying to get by with Internet Exploder. Even MicroShaft has ended any future versions of IE for XP. IE8 is as far is it goes for XP and it will not play well with any of the newer sites coming out.
Basically, the end of the line has been reached with XP. It had a fine run, better than anyone could have ever hoped, but seriously, it is time to move to Win7. Even you Vista people — the upgrade is like what, $70? Heck, you can find Enterprise versions for $50 on Craigslist if you aren’t too concerned about licensing.
At any rate, I expect to be designing towards the Win7 / OSX / Android platforms using modern browsers. I may (with emphasis on the “may”) work in a fall-back for those of you who are still clinging to your TRS-80s and Apple II computers. Okay, not THAT far back, but you get the idea…

Hey hey…what’s all this negativity toward smurt phones? Besides, I don’t have a smart phone… I have a Mobile Communication device! Financial circumstances are such that I only use my “MCD”. Its running some version of android, after that don’t know and too damn lazy to figure it out. But I remain concerned by all the hating haters hating all up on de po oppressed smurt phones.
