If the Lapdog Media can get away with knee-jerk assigning blame for the Aurora shootings to the “extreme right” simply by finding somebody on the Internet associated with the Tea Party who happens to have the same wholly unremarkable name as the insane fuckbag of scum who did it, then we sure as fuck ought to be allowed to immediately politicize the everloving shit out of it.
Besides, our argument at the very least has merit.
The evil sub-human nut job went through a door marked with an exit sign (first infraction) to enter an area where firearms weren’t permitted (second infraction), where he committed a brutal act of mass murder (third infraction).
Yet if the fascist left and their retarded media siblings do not immediately jump to insisting that this “proves” that we need to outlaw private possession of guns (more laws for future murderers to ignore), then you can slap our butt and call us Shirley.
Personally, we refuse to draw any conclusions until it has been conclusively proven that Eric Holder didn’t supply the murdering animal with guns.

How in the hell can one guy...ONE GUY……inflict over 70 casualties in one place. What in the hell is wrong with society that no one even thinks of trying to stop this bastard. With him being outnumbered at least 100 to 1, the odds are against him and I don’t care how heavily armed or armored he was….15 people, 10 people, maybe even 5 people stand a good chance of taking this guy down and either killing or disarming him.
Do you remember what happened on that Norwegian island a year or so ago? some lone gunman came on and literally had his way with 600 people there. 600 to 1!!!! the odds were and he killed over 10% of them while the others ran and hid and texted everyone to tell them what was happening. I remember the story of a girl who hid behind a rock, the same rock the gunman was standing on and she hid there and texted everyone that he was right above her……put your goddamned device away and find a rock or something to take this guy down with.
now before you all go and say that’s an easy thing to say….that I’ve never been in that situation before…..well, I have. There was a shooter at a block party that I attended, took exception to 4th of July fireworks display that I was helping to light and hung over his fence and blasted away at us with a pistol. I cleared the teenagers who were lighting, walked through his line of fire and cleared out some elderly neighbors, then went through his line of fire again to get to my family and make sure they were safe. I am no hero, and I am most certainly not bulletproof, but I couldn’t run and take cover in a neighbors house like everyone else did, there were people that I know and love that were in danger and they needed to be taken care of…..that’s what I did, it’s called giving a shit about your fellow man and getting off your ass and DOING SOMETHING.
Did I pay a price for that? yes I did, I still have the nightmares 12 years on but things are OK and if put in that situation again, I would do it again…..it’s what you’re supposed to do as a human being, not cower and text or take youtube video, you put an end to it so no one gets hurt….especially when you outnumber the asshole by so much. There is something fundamentally wrong today that one person can kill so many in one place and no one does anything…..there’s just something wrong with that.

I reside in a state that has no concealed carry permit. And I would never violate the law or the wishes of business establishment by carrying a concealed firearm. At least that either party would notice. As a poster pointed out that’s why its called concealed.

I’ll admit that I often entertain similar thoughts when such episodes pop up. My short answer in this case is that the bad guy had a detailed plan, while most likely no one else had any plan. Then, by accident or design, his plan fit in well enough with the content of Ratman’s Big Erection that potential targets seemed first not to realize the danger.
Now, If bunches of us were to go to a movie, we might have contingency plans. And, in retrospect, I imagine what I might have done on my own. I’ll leave the specifics for another time.

Fight or flight – in a majority of the population now a days you’re going to see flight take the drivers seat, people simply don’t think of any sort of plan of action, “I’m going to see the opening of a movie”- and the thought process stops – they enter a theater and worry more about getting a good seat and twittering how excited they are vs knowing where the closest exit is – the closest point of concealment to take – what options they have to fight off danger if something should happen.
People today have been utterly lured into a flase sense of security – they live in tiny little bubbles of it and when that bubble gets burst they simply have no coping skills to deal with the situation. They are, despite Homeland Security and the Array of gooberment agencies out there supposedly “provding protection”, woefully under educated in matters of personal security.

you both make great points about why nothing was done to stop this bastard, we as a society have been conditioned into false security and we don’t know what to do when that security is violated….schools teach kids and teachers to duck and cower and hide, not end the situation, there are mandatory drills to instill this into everyone in schools.
But, at some point as he made his way through the theatre, there had to be a lot of people BEHIND him….now granted, the natural reaction would be to let him pass and get the hell out of there, I’d probably do the same. Remember when Gabbie Giffords was shot and that asshole was spraying bullets that….when he stopped to reload….a couple of people rose up and brought him down.
I’ve been in a couple of situations where the natural reaction (as taught in the schools) would have been to duck and cower, but I was brought up to believe that if I had the power or the means to do something in those situations that I needed to step up and do something…..not sacrifice myself, but do something.

In WWII, an entire Dutch town surrendered to a single downed Luftwaffe pilot. He had a pistol, they had no firearms. When American paratroopers recaptured the town during Market-Garden in 1944, they were floored when they heard the story. One guy with a gun can do a lot against a large group.

are part of the problem – we can spend trillions on color coded terror alerts – harrassing travelers at airports, and tapping phones – but those same agencies provide zero efforts in actually training Americans to be prepared for actual terrorism.
