Oops, They Did it Again. Ogabe Campaign Pushing Baseless Slanders In Lieu of Their Actual Record
Yes, we know. You’re shocked, aren’t you?
We’re referring to the recent attack on Romney accusing him of a felony (until he proves himself innocent, which is how it works in a People’s Socialist Court), stating to the FEC that he left Bain before he actually did. Which, of course, turns out to be yet another load of bullshit. But don’t take our word for it, let CNN and three Bain execs, two of which support Ogabe, explain.
But hey! It’s all fair! After all, “some said” that there might be a “there” there, so it’s up to the accused party to prove that there isn’t, because that’s how justice rolls, no?
In a similar vein, “some say” that Ogabe is an incompetent, barely intelligent choom head doper who only ever managed to end up somewhere other than a back alley with a rusty needle in his arm, a beneficiary of Affirmative Action who would otherwise never have amounted to anything, a gay coke fiend with a predilection for underage boys and [insert your own wild allegation here]. And it’s up to him to prove that this isn’t so because, otherwise, we’re “just asking questions”, right?
So, Ogabe, have you stopped raping 9-year-old boys while shooting heroin? Just asking questions here.
Thatisall.

I read the exact same article – and miracle of miracles, Romney stood up for himself! Probably his campaign manager’s doing, but still!
Now, the Romney campaign is calling for an apology from the Obama campaign and a retraction from the Boston Globe.
OK, his campaign manager did.

One of my most important rules is to never forget how prone the Dembulbs are to “projection”. You can always discern their plans and their fears. In suggesting that Romney has committed criminal acts, COOTUS may be suggesting he and his campaign staff know they have already done so. If they fear post-electoral prosecution the best pre-emptive counteroffense might be to threaten Romney with prosecution for something or other.

Good question!
LC Mike in Chi says:
Oh, I thought that since everyone else was posting nonsense, I would do the same…
There are two ways to look at this. We take Romney at his word that he wasn’t involved with Bain Capital since 1999, because he doesn’t want to be associated with the business practices of Bain between 1999 and 2002. In which case he perpetrated a felony by filing as the CEO and sole officer of Bain with the SEC during that period of time.
-OR- (and probably more likely)
He lied when he said he wasn’t involved with Bain Capital during that time because he didn’t want to be associated with the business practices of Bain between 1999 and 2002.
Take your pick, because there really isn’t a third option — the filings are there for everyone to see.
Now most of you might say, “what’s the big deal? So he made money by ripping the guts out of companies, loading them up with debt, sending the work overseas and then filing bankruptcy and walking away with his pockets full of cash. The man is a business man.”
But here is the problem. Romney is trying desperately to run away from that characterization by trying to claim that HE wasn’t involved in Bain when Bain was buying up companies, gutting them out sending work over seas, taking out loans and then filing bankruptcy. THAT was the business model and Romney doesn’t want to be associated with it now.
In the 2001 SEC filings, Bain described Romney as being the “sole stockholder, chairman of the board, chief executive officer, and president.” In other words, Romney WAS Bain.
Another form in 2001 has Romney owning 100 percent of Bain Capital collecting a six figure salary and his title as “Executive”. For a person “not involved” he appeared to be quite the opposite.
The long and short of it is this:
Romney can claim he wasn’t involved with Bain during that period, and that’s fine. That would mean he is admitting to committing a few felonies by lying on his SEC filings. In the alternative, if he isn’t admitting to committing a series of felonies, then it means he is lying by claiming he wasn’t involved. Which slander do you want to choose?
Oh, and never mind that in 2002 he gave sworn testimony in a hearing as to whether he had sufficient residency status in Massachusetts to run for governor:
“There were a number of social trips and business trips that brought me back to Massachusetts, board meetings, Thanksgiving and so forth.”
Contrast that with now:
“I was in Salt Lake City for three straight years. I don’t recall even coming back once to go to a Bain or management meeting. We were, I was out there running the Olympics and it was a full time job, I can tell you that.”
You guys know in your heart of hearts what this man is all about. The guy is famous for being all over the board and there isn’t ONE FUCKING THING you can pin this guy down on. Not one. He is every thing to every one, and it all depends on what time of the day it is and who he is talking to.
He might wear funny underwear, but at least he doesn’t have a Muslim-sounding name…

-OR- (and you’d know this if you’d actually read the post before knee-jerking spasmodically)
You could ask Bain’s execs, two of which are Obama supporters.
But what the heck do they know?
Emperor Misha I recently posted..Oh Just Fuck Right Off, Will You?
Emperor Misha I says:
Oh, you mean their CURRENT execs? So lemme get this straight, if THEY are telling the truth, then Mitt lied to the SEC. I
drawdrag your attention baaaaaack to the SEC filing where, if YOU had bothered to read it you would have seen the part where Mittens was the “sole stockholder, chairman of the board, chief executive officer, and president.” There were no other executives at that time. And I really don’t care who they support. The fact that they support Obama should be questionable enough as it is. I am just going by how all of this was filed with the SEC and Mittens PRIOR statements.
Remember, Misha, Romney is an Etch-a-Sketch, and has had more positions on an issue than the Kama Sutra. You cannot sit there with a straight face and tell me that this guy is on the up and up.
See, here is the thing, Misha. I am guessing that if given a choice, you would have MUCH rather had any of the other Republican candidates that ran in the Primary, right? Like say, Rick Perry? What did Rick Perry have to say about Romney’s business practices back when he was still in the race? Was he right then, and wrong now? How about Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, or Rick Santotum? Were they right then and wrong now? How about four years ago?
C’mon, Misha! I don’t even have to try in order to come up with soundbytes of Mittens contradicting himself — sometimes in the same day. The fact that Mittens can get two Obama supporters who happen to be current Bain executives to come forward and defend Romney only shows that they are more interested in protecting Bain, and not as much about supporting Obama. Political loyalty usually stops at the wallet.
I honestly don’t care who wins in November. A large part of me wants Mittens to win — not only for the comedy of it, but because it will only spell the end of the Republican Party, if not the modern Conservative movement. That large part of me doesn’t want Obama to win because it too would spell the end of the Democratic Party.
If we are lucky, BOTH sides will die.
I haven’t really made it a secret that I think that the next four to eight years are going to be the roughest we have ever seen. Not only here, but throughout the world. I strongly believe that we are headed for a major reboot.
I don’t know if it will necessarily be a “bad thing”, as much as a “necessary thing”. Sometimes relationships end for no reason at all. Many times they end amicably, where the only thing the different parties agree on is that they need to split up in order to remain friends.
I see that happening soon, on a few different fronts — and I know that many of you see it also.
Does that mean we are obliged to hate each other over our differences? I don’t think so. My wife and I split up eight months ago and we are still best friends.
Okay, that is enough of MY drivel.
My point is, quit trying to defend the indefensible here. Romney is a putz and a goniff.

Now THIS is funny (and why President Mittens will restore my faith in comedians):
From Meet the Press this morning:
How does one retire “retroactively”, and when can you actually do it? Can he decide tomorrow to “retroactively retire” back in 1996 if he wanted to?
This is a great skill. What other things can be decided retroactively? Oooo! I know! Mitt can get us out of this crushing debt by retroactively not borrow money! He could also retroactively get us out of the Great Recession by not having it.

After doing a little more reading on this, I am going to concede that Mittens probably didn’t have much to do with Bain after February of 1999. Or at least the day-to-day operations. He did still collect a salary (which is different than collecting dividends from his stock) which makes it appear as though he made operational decisions. That, coupled with the SEC filings, does fuel the argument that Romney was still connected to Bain after 1999.
And he was. But apparently not in any real capacity other than lending his name and perhaps signing a few documents as the need arose.
Apparently, the SEC does not require an owner to be the operational decision maker either. He could be the CEO and Chief Bottle Washer, but that doesn’t mean that he has to do anything or even be there.
So there, I reverse myself.

It is also not the first time that I have retracted — unlike most everyone else here.
It still doesn’t change my estimation about Mitt Romney. He has an even chance to become president right now, and I think that he will be no better than the one we currently have — and probably worse. I also know that if he wins, it will guarantee a Democrat for 2016, so GO MITT!
