The famous quote from Marse Robert rings true today as it did on that bloody day in 1864 at a Place called the Wilderness

Dear Governors, Rick Perry Joins Governors Scott, Jindal, and Haley Showing You The Way

If anyone was in doubt, we in Texas have no intention to implement so-called state exchanges or to expand Medicaid under Obamacare, I will not be party to socializing healthcare and bankrupting my state in direct contradiction to our Constitution and our founding principles of limited government.

Indeed, God Bless Texas.

    My history was a little off. The quote came from the Battle of the Wilderness not Antietam. Although the Texas Brigade did suffer the most causalities during that fight in the Cornfield (over 80%), more than any other Brigade, North or South, of the entire war.

    So, I wondered when the SCOTUS decision came down, if this was what Roberts was after all along. By invalidating the Federal Government’s ability to financially penalize the states for not implementing expansion, he left a door open for the states to do just this.

    I hope we will see more states follow in these big footsteps, and repudiate ObamaTaxCare.

    Could this finally be a re-awakening of the importance of state’s rights, and increased efforts on the part of the best of our governors to seek greater independence from the Federal nanny state? This would be one of the ways the US could get it’s republic back.

    Neither Florida nor Montana will implement Obamacare either. Montana doesn’t surprise me but Florida does. I’m so glad that my husband and I will be “making our escape” from Californistan this week and settling in an anit-Obamacare state :)

    Exactly what my thought was. He’s been a very strong conservative, by and large, and he knew the only way to kill it forever would be to give it back to the voters, giving it to the states.

    I think what General Lee said was “Texans always move them”. Said when Lee sent the Texans in to close a breach in his lines at the Wilderness…..

    I think SCOTUS justices may have felt it was too much of a political mess to strike the law down and decided, “Fuck it, states don’t HAVE to implement it!”

    Immediately after the SCOTUS ruling, Governor Heineman came out and said that we would not be implementing the exchanges here in Cornhusker country. I hope he sticks to his guns. He was around to see what happened to Chuck Hagel and now Ben Nelson, when they sold us out. The same thing could happen to him.

    Well, here’s what seems to be the official scoop on Montana….the legislature wouldn’t implement a state exchange. They are doing research and will make a report and/or recommendation in 2013. They only meet every other year. Lots still to learn about my new home.

    Those people in anti-Obamacare states with initiative powers in their constitutions need to get up a petition drive to amend their constitutions to forbid their states from implementing any of the provisions of ObamaCare. That way, their legislatures can’t stab them in the back and implement it anyway when legislative control passes to the other party … and it will, sooner or later.
