Deej
I, like all of you, promised Deej that I would not make a big deal out of his condition, and I’m not. He’s still the same old Deej as far as everything else goes. But his wife just left this in the open thread.
My husband of 45 years is currently in a coma following a liver transplant. This was the place where he counted the most of his friends. While he is a fervent agnostic, I ask for your prayers for his recovery.
So please pray for Dave, and when he comes back remember our promise to him.

@Haranguer: I don’t know if the coma is normal, but husband of 45 years is a pretty rare sight nowadays. Here’s hoping for many more.

I miss him……..sure is quiet around here sometimes without Dave to check blood pressure, other vitals…
I thought about him this morning, sent good thoughts his way……..

Besides, I like him….
his family has weathered more than their share of recent tragedy and loss…….
So I pray for them.

I’m glad he got his transplant! Liver transplants are TOUGH – and as others have said, he may be a Lib, but he’s OUR Lib. Partly because he has chosen to be a Liberal because of his intellectual analysis of issues. He lacks the hypocrisy and dogmatic dedication to idiocy that marks modern Liberalism. I think that’s why he fits in well here.

Sometimes the patient is purposely put in a coma for a while after traumatic surgery.
‘Sure hope this is Deej’s case.
I’m not inclined to believe he’d give up any discussion this soon: Last word kind’a guy n’ all.
The Empire goes quietly for days on end, turn your back to attend oter matters, and all hell breaks loose.
My appreciation has always been limited, but still … as Caveman said, Deej is our Liberal and the House troll. So today even Rurik prays for Deej to recover.

I have some good news to report. DJ came out of his coma about six hours ago. The doctors have been giving him some tests since then, but I was allowed to go in and see him for about ten minutes this morning. He isn’t talking yet, but he is aware of his surroundings.
Right now he is resting, and I will be back there around five this evening.

I am looking forward to his return. There is a decent chance that he got a Republican kidney, and I’m curious to see what that may have done for him.
A little late to the news, so I’ll just send up a prayer for his speedy recovery.

In major surgery cases, ICU staff often put patients in a drug induced coma, to ensure they keep a close eye on him, do post op observations, and to allow the body to heal. It’s SOP.

I am happy to report that he is now out of the ICU and in a room. He is talking a little now, but his throat is sore. I am sure that he will have some choice words to say if he finds out that I posted all of this here.
I’m certainly not going to tell him, if you get my drift.
He wants his laptop right now, but I keep telling him that it is charging right now. He usually drifts off to sleep before he remembers again. I will probably let him have it when I go back later this afternoon.
Other than that, the doctors are happy with the progress he’s making. They say he may be able to come home on Thursday. He won’t be walking for a while, so I will have to rent him a chair for a couple of weeks.

Well, it would be a lot less stress if he didn’t see it. I know how he is on these things. He tends to get wound into a tight knot when people fuss over him. I think it is a man thing.

I heard that they had liver and onions in the cafeteria downstairs the other night.
I am doing all right considering that I have yet another scar on me and that I am not OEM any longer. I probably ended up with a Republican knock-off liver.
